Fabulous hideaway home

Peaceful location with steam trains in the distance Delightful hut. Loved it

The area where the fire pit is situated is shady. We moved our chairs into the sun (on the lawn - hope that was OK)

Cosy hideaway.

The hut was tastefully decorated and furnished with lots of thoughtful touches to add to the comfort and experience. The location was great for exploring the area. The pre visit information was detailed and very helpful with prompt responses from the owner to any enquiries. We arrived on a wet and windy night to find the log burner set for a fire. Such a bonus. The hut was toasty warm and cosy very quickly. We will return!

The whole experience was charming.

Everything was perfect could not find a fault with anything. Attention to detail was amazing.

When a well thought out small space in a great setting gives you all you need.

Cake (!) Bacon and eggs etc supplied were nice and the location was great. Made us fell very welcome. The hut is small, and we were a little worried it might be too small until we got there and saw how well laid out it was with everything we needed. The hut sits in its own space among the trees but still close to the owners home for help if needed Theres no television, but there is music on tap and frankly we were glad to be rid of the news! We found the whole stay very relaxing.

Very comfortable and cosy. Karoline and Nick had thought of everything from the practical, like the wheel barrow for transporting luggage from the car to the hut, to the little touches to make it all feel very homely.

Not great with “delicate” china, and low hanging lights are not good for tall people. Would have liked some decent sized mugs

The charm of our accommodation enhanced our four day stay immensely.

Secluded and cosy, this hut was a dream find! Our hosts went out of their way to add little luxuries and touches, all much appreciated. The hut itself was beautifully kitted out to a high spec., clean and tidy, with everything you would hope to find.

Not a criticism, but a comment..... The space is small , with only one exit route from the bed(!) so it's best to pack light and to have got your head around this before you walk through the door !

A lovely break.

Very comfortable. Great attention to detail. Lovely breakfast goods left for us. Bathroom was a good size for the size of accommodation. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Everything you need had been thought about and needs met. Perfect combination of location and tranquil setting. Amazing attention to detail. Perfect location for a romantic getaway and we also had the weather but would also be a cosy atmosphere in winter. Will definitely come again. Well done Karoline and Nick.

Unusual but delightful, even on a rainy day when we mostly lazed about in the hut reading.

As stated this shepherd's hut is luxurious particularly with amount of food provided, lighting, kitchen ware, comfortable bedding, useful information, lovely setting. Very friendly owners.

There wasn't much to dislike!

What a lovely stay. Set in beautiful gardens, the Shepherds hut was ideal for our short break. Nice touches with cake and basic provisions added to our great experience. Location was also perfect for us with easy access to coastal towns and fabulous beaches/salt marshes. Great walking country. Thank you to Birkfield House for making our stay so memorable.

A beautiful little home from home, we couldn't fault it!

We loved everything about Chez Marguerite, it was such a novelty to be able to stay in this beautiful shepherd's hut. We loved the wood burner, listening to the owls hooting at night, chatting to each other, there is a radio, but no TV which in our eyes is a good thing, it was lovely just to get away and relax. Chez Marguerite was everything we hoped it would be and more, for that reason we hope to go back again!

There was nothing not to like, the weather could have been better, but that is hardly the fault of our hosts! We've experienced Chez Marguerite in the rain and high winds and that didn't deter us, it really is a special place to stay!
