About this apartment rental
Just 15 min. from historic Beaufort, 5 min to Hunting Island State Park; 57 miles to enchanting Savannah, 69 miles to thriving Charleston and 12 miles to Parris Island. Beaufort offers all the down-home charm of an older, southern city minus the really big crowds. (However, with more than 2 million visitors per year, it's not entirely disregarded.) History, architecture, the waterfront, a healthy local arts scene and great local restaurants separate Beaufort from other low country locales. Named the cutest town in SC by PowWow.com as the poster-child for adorable towns, it has all the Southern charm you could ever dream of: friendly people, a low-country culture, a slow-paced lifestyle, Antebellum architecture and Spanish moss as far as the eye can see. Décore: Ocean Blue ceramic floor tile, Serta pullout sleeper sofa, Serta pullout side chair, 58" smart TV with Roku in the living room, flat screen TV in the bedroom, sailor blue bedroom furniture with a queen pillow-top bed and a nautical theme. This first floor vacation condo features a screen porch overlooking one of the island's 3 pools with a view of 3 mile long private, uncrowded beach and morning sunrises. Just 70 yards over the boardwalk, over the sea oats/sand dunes and you're on the beach!! Pets must be well behaved and preapproved. Pet owners planning to bring pet(s) must reserve with a credit card. Pets may require an extra cleaning fee, especially long-haired pets. Close to rookeries with hundreds of herons and egrets. We love to relax and enjoy the warmth of the sun, cool water and carefree attitude in a quiet neighborhood atmosphere with 24-hour security guards at the gated entrance. Take long walks on your own sandy beach. All the pleasures and privacy that a hotel cannot offer. 11 GOLF COURSES WITHIN 15 MILES. And golf is only one of nearby Beaufort’s drawing cards. Just 10 minutes away Camelot Farms provides Equestrian Adventures. It won’t take long for you to discover why movie makers so often choose the Lowcountry as a movie set. Forrest Gump, The Prince of Tides, and The Big Chill are but a few of our credits. Spend a week, especially when there's a festival going on or you can get a taste even in a few days thanks to well regarded tours. The condo was like a home away from home, very clean and inviting. It rained our first night there but the screened porch was a great way to spend a rainy night. We even got to enjoy watching a school of dolphins swim while lounging on the beach. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a peaceful, serene place to enjoy some down time! We wanted to have a nice long weekend at the beach and be able to take our dogs. This host allowed us to have this wonderful experience.

The apartment needs some update, the balcony door is impossible to open, the digital device at the front door is not working. Smells weir when you come in

Although the condo needs to be updated, it was clean, kitchen had all the things I needed and the view was beautiful. Very close walk to the beach. I would suggest a small outdoor high top table to enjoy the view while sitting on the porch. The bag chairs supplied were uncomfortable and sit to low to be able to see the beautiful view this condo has to offer.

Do not recommend to anyone sensitive to moldy dusty smells. The moment you walk into the apartment you are hit with an overwhelming smell of mold. Turned the heat up and opened the sliding porch door which is hard to open. The ceiling popped and cracked when the heat was on. Dust was everywhere. Could not sleep due to the smell and dust. Contacted the owner who sent a cleaning lady the next afternoon. They sprayed air freshener to cover the mold smell. Could not sleep the second night because of the awful smell. Left the apartment in the middle of the night because of the health hazard of staying in the apartment. Contacted the owner who said she would refund the days I didn’t stay. Now she has back tracked and said that a contractor did not note mold therefore she would not refund partial payment. Expensive lesson to learn. Pay attention to the reviews if you want to have an enjoyable vacation.

We would use the condo again. Easy access to areas in which to walk dogs. They had more fun than a dog should! Very clean and adequately equipped for kitchen needs.

I was at Harbor Island by myself for a bit of repite care. As described in some of the reviews, the condo condition is a little older and a little worn. Because I was there for a month I did some cooking at the condo. It is not as well equipped as other places I have stayed. There were no large pots or skillets. Very few bowls to store or cook with. And very limited glasses, silverware and cereal type bowls. Towels were older worn towels but there were plenty. I will be renting again in the future but bring some of my own supplies with me. I had many supplies with me this time but not cooking ware. Owner was very nice and called to make sure everything went well when I arrived. Thank you Anne.

My husband and I decided on a spur of the moment trip to get away for the week. I wanted to get pictures of the full harvest moon over the water. We found this first-floor condo on VRBO and booked it immediately. We were happy to find one that allowed us to bring our dog. We had some trouble with the keyless lock but called the owner and she helped us fix the issue immediately. She also checked with us later that evening to make sure the condo was clean to our expectations and that it was equipped for all our needs. Unfortunately for me, on Wednesday I began to feel ill and felt rough for the rest of my trip. I spent more time than I planned in the bed, but I can honestly say the mattress was, by far, the most comfortable one I've slept on since we've been coming to Harbor Island. I was feeling really sick when we left and failed to pack my jewelry. The owner was very sympathetic and saw to it all my things were safely returned to me. In spite of my flu, it was a restful trip.

We went for Labor Day weekend and we’re able to enjoy the peace and quietness of the island and meet new friends! 10/10 recommend!!

Good price and good location. Clean.

We were pleased with the condo. It was very convenient to the beach and pool. We found that it had most everything we needed. We prepared most of our meals there and used one of the grills outside one evening. Sure the interior was dated and some places needed minor repairs but everything was clean, the bed was comfortable and everything was functional. Overall we were happy.

I knew this place was older from the pictures.
But… I’m sorry to say it’s really old inside.
Very shabby. And Not in a chic way at all. Wallpaper peeling, stains on the walls, Tile is loose and grout is missing.
The basic cable box has a poor connection and cuts in and out …not many channels. So,
Bring a smart tv ,DVD player or fire stick if you plan to watch a movie or tv.
The two couches are very uncomfortable.
The mattress is uncomfortable.
This is not the beach you can swim in either, it is near the sound of the ocean which is different.
Hunting Island beach is real close to this location…. And that is where we decided to have our beach day.
The location is beautiful and that is the best part about this place.
Parking fees, plus other fees = this place is more expensive than you think.

Me and two girlfriends stayed for a moms weekend. It was unbelievably hot and during the day the tide is out so far it is like a half mile walk before you ever even reach water! 😳 Both coffee pots in the unit are broken, so that was a sad start to the day. We had to drive each morning to go get coffee. Other than that the property is very dated but clean.

Great value!
This property was very nice for the price. It is in a wonderful location and access to the room was very convenient (and we were right next door to the laundry room, which is a plus). There were a few minor inconveniences, like the coffee maker didn't work, and we had trouble with the door lock code so we had to use the key, but overall it was a great stay for the price. Thank you!

Terrible
First of all the host never returned ONE call I made to him!! No pass day of arrival. Property is beyond need of updating!! Grout between tiles was filthy! Looked like black mold under bar along with a surge protector that was rigged up! No Ice maker and trays (2) of them were broke! Stove was old and foil under burners was nasty. Coffee maker did not work! Wall paper bucked up and outside of front door was filthy. I was disgusted at this property and ended up staying with my sister up the road because of this! If you desperately needed anything then good luck with getting in touch with the host Ty.

We enjoyed our stay at this rental. Location and access to the beach are very difficult to beat.

Derelict
The property was abismal. Pet hair is fine although my dog does not shed. I'm ok with outdated decor but not ok with CSI-style blood stains on the mattress and human hair on the sheets; that's more DNA evidence than I can shake a GCMS machine at. I didn't check for skeletons in the closet; that would have been fun. We did not stay one night. The host refunded part of the stay but keep over 400$ in fees. Until this site sorts out a way to check the properties, I'm done; VRBO can kiss my reservations. I did not expect this in America. On a good note, you will enjoy the beach and the screened in porch... Maybe just sleep out there, perhaps. The photos are as old as Methuselah. The same bed comforter shown in the photos is there today.

Check in was simple! Condo was clean and very well stocked, we had everything we needed to include a wagon and chairs for the beach! The view was wonderful and it was a very safe community. I will definitely visit again!

Relaxing respite
The condo was nicely decorated with beautiful artwork by the owner. It could use some updates, but the rental price reflected that. Location overlooking the dunes and the closeness of the boardwalk access to the beach was very good. There are at least 3 choices of pools, including the large pool at the Beach Club. All in all a very pleasant stay.

We stayed on property for Memorial Day weekend. The furniture is dated, some tiles are loose or cracked, but the property was clean and functional. Owner was quick to respond to questions. If you work remotely, don’t plan on relying on the WiFi in the evenings. I don’t fault the property owner but I don’t believe the HOA has put in a system that can support the amount of traffic and users in the evenings. It interferes with television viewing as well. The pool and beach were great and you were located steps from both.

Bare Bones
Condo hadn’t been cleaned (towels and linens piled on the floor, kitchen a mess) when we arrived and WiFi didn’t work. Both were fixed the following the afternoon, but were a huge pain since I was trying to work remotely.
Ignoring those issues, condo was fine for a place to sleep. If you plan to cook, bring everything you need- knives, stockpot, all spices (Including bringing your own salt and pepper), oils, aluminum foil, Tupperware, ... We were planning on cooking meals, but that was undoable.
The location is fantastic, and the beach is beautiful. The condo was a good homebase for exploring the area but I couldn’t/wouldn’t use it for anything more than a roof over my head at night.

We were very impressed with property and the unit we stayed in. Convenient to pool and boardwalks, also good parking. The landscape was beautiful and sidewalks were so easy, especially for we older ones. The unit was very well equipped to more than meet our needs. The internet did not work which was very disappointing to us. Knew it had been out for some time but were told it was fixed. Hope to visit Harbor Island again.

Short walk to the beach and pool!
The property was clean and in a very convenient location to the beach and outdoor swimming pool. There were lots of towels, sheets, blankets and kitchenware. The inside, while comfortable, is outdated.
We had problems with the check-in process. The passes were not at the security gate at check-in. It took a few calls to the owner to gain access inside the community. Also, the TV and WiFi weren't working during our stay.

The apartment was fine. After reading all the "peeling wallpaper" reviews, we didn't find it to be that bad at all. Yes, older, but clean, comfortable, and well stocked with everything we could possibly need. The down side was that we had to leave 2 days early because the Wifi did not work; even after conversations with the owner, we still could not get it to work. Our reservation was until Tuesday but we had to leave early on Monday to go home because we needed the Wifi to work remotely. The other disappointment was not with the apartment but with Harbor Island. It used to be a quiet relaxing place but apparently they are now renting to large groups with loud noises until 3am so sleeping was not as easy as in past years. But we still love the place and will go back again, maybe even to this property if they get the wifi issues fixed.

Long weekend getaway
The location was great the beach was not crowded and the area was safe. The condo was a little old and therefore had some wear and tare as expected. there was a broken tile in the bedroom that may need to be replaced so no one cuts there feet on it but overall was as expected. The condo was clean except for the bathroom smelled like someone had vomited, I suspect from previous renters and the cleaning people were probably unable to get that smell out. The renter was great responded very quickly to all of my questions and concerns. Overall the location to the beach and state park was ideal and my family enjoyed our little getaway.

Much needed getaway
My family and I were in much need of a getaway from our busy lifestyle. We heard about Hunting Island state park from a friend and quickly started looking for a small place to stay.
Judging by the pictures , homeaway looked like a great spot that fit our budget. I read reviews, which were mixed, but for the most part positive. Annette was great with accommodating the changes in dates we requested and did so in a timely manner. Check-in was great. My family and I felt at ease knowing that there would be someone checking all vehicles entering the property 24 hrs a day. The grounds were quite and clean. Once we made it to the condo we had a little trouble accessing the knoxbox for the condo key. It took a few trys but eventually we got it. After entering we found it to be a little chilly but had no issues bumping the thermostat up a bit. We did find truth to the previous reviews about needs for an update. There were several places that the wallpaper was peeling off, broken floor tile in different rooms, mold on the ceiling in the bathroom, kitchen cabinets that wouldnt shut all the way, a kitchen drawer that had broken tracks, beach chairs that were rusted/torn, broken porch chairs, stains on the curtains, and stains on the couch . We never could find the wifi that was listed to use. Those things I could overlook for the price we paid and the short time we were there. However, there were two other things I found that bothered me...one being that when I pulled the fold-out bed out for my 12 year old to go to sleep I found a sheet that was covered in sand and hair still on the mattress. Needless to say, I removed it and replaced it with one from the linen closet. ( it did make me worry about the cleanliness of all linens) The second thing was when my child found an opened beer can behind the blue couch on the day we were leaving. We had not had any alcohol in the condo so I know it had been there for a while. I'm sure that these things would be unexceptable for the owner if she had found them so I hope that my review is taken as constructive criticism. If these things were all addressed I believe the condo would stay booked with a waiting list. Harbor Island is a wonderful place to visit and the area is extremely inviting but the condo itself needs to be addressed.

Great Location to beach
Location is perfect to beach and pool 1 st floor corner unit can see ocean over dunes 20 steps to pool.
However this units decor is a mishmash of clutter . No rhyme or reason to the wall art. If your OCD. Don’t let it get to you.
