Superb
A wonderful place with a magnificent view of the mountains, the sea and Volos. The hotel is located in the highest part of Makrinitsa. Right in front of it begins the eco-path from which you can go down to the center of the village, but in places it is quite steep and returning on foot would be it was quite difficult. So definitely the only way to get around is by car. But otherwise the hotel is very charming with a nice atmosphere of the bygone era. Our double room was comfortable and very clean. We had a lovely little balcony with a view of the whole gulf of Volos. The owner Akis is very kind and responsive. Great place.

Good
Great spot with an outstanding view of the village as well as of the city of Volos and of the gulf in front of it. Very cozy place, giving every feeling a traditional village should give. Very quiet and the guys in the reception always polite and helpful.
The room was a bit small but most probably it was what it could be, given that the Archontiko was an old traditional house in the first place. The road from the village to the rooms was not the best there is but, after your first try, you will get used to it and it gets better.

Amazing view, good value for money but difficult to reach, and management not present
View was great, room was comfortable, internet/wifi was good, place was quiet, and value was good for one night.
A few things I personally didn’t like. Manager was not there, so I checked in on my own, and he wasn’t there during check out either, and the person he appointed didn’t even now how to charge my card. Even though breakfast was included, owner did not make it too clear that menu was in the room, so I could select the breakfast and send him via text my order late at night for the morning. Bathroom was very small and very outdated - the vent was pretty dirty, and always on whenever you turned the light on. No actual parking - you need to park a few meters up hill, next to a burned down car. Finally, to get to the hotel is very complicated. The road is very narrow and you gotta prey no one comes the other way. Also, if Google Maps tells to go via the north route, don’t take it - the road converts into a tiny pedestrian path where not even two people can fit.

Unique location, welcoming hosts, breathtaking views!
incredible views! peaceful location. Our hosts were very welcoming and accommodating. We didn’t have a car during our stay and Agis was very kind to drop us/pick us up from the village for a couple of days as we were travelling with two small children. As other reviews have stated, the road is very steep up to the guesthouse, not too much of an issue for adults who are used to walking, but harder if you have small kids. The guesthouse was very clean and lots of thought has gone into the decoration. The communal area where you could make tea/coffee was great, and an added bonus for us we had it to ourselves during our stay. We were very happy to here for a few nights in a family room.
Breakfast wasn’t provided, this could be clearer in the info on booking.com. We didn’t realise until late in the day as we just assumed. The local bakery however delivers daily freshly baked pies for a cost - lovely, but carb heavy, and a little tricky when you have small kids to feed first thing depending on what time he arrives. What would’ve made our stay a little easier with small kids would be having just a bit of choice available at the guesthouse first thing - fruit, yoghurt. (Ideally included within the cost of the accommodation). You can of course buy supplies in the village although choices are limited, and we didn’t have a car, so that made things a bit harder for us. Not a big issue and not one to put you off booking, but just make sure you are organised if travelling with small children!
