We jad such a fun and relaxing stay with my family age range 7-73. Plenty of things to see and do a wonderful view from the home. Well maintained and beautiful grounds.

Our family of six adults, one child and two dogs spent a magical week at this lovely home. The house has views Holmes Harbor from nearly every room as well as multiple places on the extensive grounds to sit and enjoy the garden and water views. The large and well supplied kitchen was perfect for preparing meals to have on the deck. We never even wanted to go out to eat! The well maintained stairway to the beach is long and steep, but there is also a trail and John, the owner, let my husband use the golf cart to avoid the stairs. We've stayed at several beachside homes on Whidbey, but all of us agree that this one is our favorite.

What an amazing place to stay, the views from inside and outside of the house are stunning. We had a lot of fun using both fire pits, the property is so well kept it is like staying in a park. We really enjoyed playing golf at the local course, and also thoroughly enjoyed the winery down the street. We all had a great time, and we will definitely be coming back, the host has been doing this for a while and it shows. What a great place to relax and have fun!

The landscape alone made this place worth the stay. If you’re looking for pool tables and arcade machines, this isn’t the spot, but if you want a perfect backdrop with your morning cup of coffee, this is your place! We enjoyed strolling through the beautifully landscaped back yard leading down to the water. The stairs are steep and it’s a real workout coming back up, but the yard, sitting areas scattered throughout the property, the large hot tub overlooking the water, and the lack of noise from other houses/cars/people made this place a dream spot for us. Our host John was incredibly accommodating and communicated well with us. Definitely recommend this peaceful home on the water to anyone needing some “serenity now” in their life!

Our ladies group of 14 enjoyed 3 fun filled days and nights in this lovely home. We prepared meals in the well equipped kitchen with space for gathering, dined inside and outside, soaked in the hot tub, enjoyed the water view and gorgeous landscaping, walked the 100-plus stairs to the beach, and slept comfortably in the beds and additional floor mattresses. And 5 bathrooms were appreciated! Plenty of parking too. The owner was friendly and responsive. The pictures in the listing are accurate.

Our stay at Harbor Hideway vacation rental was amazing. The property is more stunning and beautiful than the pictures show. We spent most of our time on the deck overlooking the beautiful garden. This is the best stocked vacation rental that I have ever experienced. John, the host, checked in to make sure we had everything we needed. This property is close to shopping, beaches, etc.

My husband, daughter, son-in-law, dog and I enjoyed a fantastic week at this home on Whidbey island. There were beautiful views from each of the living spaces and throughout the property. The kitchen was well equipped and we cooked many delicious meals. The hot tub was large and situated with perfect views of puget sound. The spacious yard was beautifully landscaped. The bedrooms were large and private as they were spread on three levels. Kitchen looked out to a spacious deck with fabulous views and was beautifully equipped. The owner, John, greeted us on arrival, was a gracious host and respected our privacy. All of us left with good memories and we hope to return.

This was our first time to Whidbey Island, John’s hospitality help make the stay enjoyable. The house accommodated 13 family members with no problems. We all enjoyed the s’mores made at the fire pit, the exploration on the beach and the quiet. Thanks John for a great vacation!

John is a master of attention to detail and every little quirk of the gorgeous house is well explained, labeled etc. We could have done nothing but chill in the back yard and on the patio, enjoying the gorgeous view, abundant birds, super-tame deer, and John's lovely pet cat and dog and the numerous lovely lounging spots scattered about. We each had a favorite getaway spot. The space is very well designed for group dinners, multiple people getting breakfast at the same time, and enjoying the outdoors from indoors as well. The common areas and the lower level bedrooms do not have AC but the windows do provide good airflow, which was fine for us because the weather was perfect with temps between 55 and 77 but if it was persistently in the mid 80sor more it may have been an issue.
The handicap accessible suite on the main floor worked very well for my uncle - if there's anything that seems lacking just check with the owner and it's probably tucked away somewhere!! if not I'm sure he would make it right.
The location was fantastic- great access to Freeland, Langley, Coupeville and many great natural areas. Parking is easy even with 3-4 vehicles. There's nothing really within walking distance - you need a car, but all important needs are addressed within just a few minutes drive. The only shortcoming was that the TV isnt really made for large group movie nights. Nothing but good memories!!!

The entire property was amazing! You immediately feel relaxed when you arrive. Lots of space to hang out both inside as well as outside. The landscaping and views are beautiful. The house is very accommodating to large groups - everyone had a comfortable place to sleep and every bedroom has an attached bathroom with shower. I highly recommend and would stay here again!

This place is simply amazing. Like beyond words amazing! Once we arrived we did not want to leave. Even for dinner!! Hot tub is large and close to the house but still has water view. The steps down to the beach are a veritable great of engineering - but safe and secure! 4 bedrooms each with their own bathrooms!! Very well appointed kitchen!! Could not have been more perfect for my birthday girl's weekend!

This property exceeded our expectations!! It is beautiful, comfortable, roomy and the views are spectacular. Very well equipped. The hot tub is covered so is usable no matter the weather. The stairs to the water worked very well. They are a little steep in areas but our 3 & 4 year olds had no problem (and neither did the 68 year old!! We had a group ranging in age from 2 - 71 and it worked for all of us! You can't go wrong with this getaway. I would absolutely rent this property again.

We spent a wonderful rainy weekend at this property. Our group was 6 moms who had been friends for 10 years. The place had many bedrooms, bathrooms and pull out beds so we didn’t have to share. Lots of perfect spots to gather around and share or play cards. The home has clearly been well cared for and loved. The grounds were beautiful. So many good stories passed between us in the sitting area, on the deck or around the dining table. The kitchen was well appointed and we had serving trays, cookware galore! The checkout procedures were very detailed and extremely reasonable given the size of the home. Thank you very much for sharing your property with the VRBO community!!

We stayed for the weekend with 7 adults and 5 kids to celebrate a milestone birthday in our family. There was more than enough beds that every person had their own comfortable place to sleep. The kitchen was well equipped so we were able to prepare all the meals we had planned and the dining table allowed us to seat all 12 of us together. The views were stunning and the beach (and all those stairs) were enjoyed by all. Thank you to John for the use of the golf cart so that Gramma could also enjoy time on the beach.

Great stay in Freeland
We really enjoyed staying at this house. It was well maintained and very comfortable. There were eleven of us including three kids. The views were incredible. We went clamming on the beach and ate steamed clams as well as clam chowder. The jacuzzi was large with a view of the water. We had a fire in the fire pit three nights with the wood provided. My entire family was sorry we had to leave. John was very responsive and even let me borrow his golf cart to go to the beach. Beds were comfortable and the kitchen well equipped. There are two great groceries within 10 minutes. Deception, and Ebey parks are within a 45 minute drive for some great hiking. Highly recommend.

Perfect Family Vacation Home
It was an absolutely perfect week at John’s VRBO, and so much to do: kayaking, hiking, hot tubbing, yard games, s’mores over the fire pit, etc. We saw Orcas the first evening! John’s property is absolutely pristine, and it was the best equipped house we’ve ever rented. John was awesome, letting us use the golf cart to haul the kayaks down to the beach and making sure we had everything we needed. We’ll definitely rent it again!

This was a gorgeous setting for our vacation get away. We were close enough to Seattle for our Seattle based daughter to come and go as needed. Groceries and restaurants were close by. The gardens on the property were amazing and well tended. The house was well appointed and the space was comfortable and perfect for our group. The owner was friendly and helpful. Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. There was not one thing that we could have needed that was not available. The grounds of the property are absolutely stunning. We had some older family members who had trouble climbing up the stairs from the beach but John (the wonderful host) provided a golf cart for us to use. We enjoyed clamming on the beach (equipment for this is available too!), sightseeing around Whidbey Island and taking in the natural surroundings (deer, bald eagles, porpoises and more). There were accommodations for all. We were a party of 7 and were totally comfortable. Overall a fantastic time. We highly recommend this rental property!

The property is so peaceful and and relaxing—with gorgeous views of the water, a garden-like yard with nooks and crannies for moments away alone or with friends! We loved the accommodations, the amenities, and the location. The house is really well put together, with plenty of comfortable beds and lots of space. We were able to hold group meetings comfortably, have recreation time in the hot tub and around the fire pit, and to cook meals together in a very well stocked kitchen. The home sits on a beautiful piece of property looking over the water. There are several spots to hang out, but we like the big deck and the hot tub. Home was very clean and the beds were all comfortable. Lots of kitchen accessories to make cooking for a family easy. We enjoyed our time.

The house and property are very well planned. There are outside areas that are flat for playing games, multiple paths leading to different little areas for quiet moments and the stairs down to the water and rocky beach. The three levels in the house are great for having bedrooms on each level providing privacy for everyone.
