Kings birthday weekend break

Very quiet and peaceful spot. Uninterrupted view of the water. We enjoyed sitting outside on the outdoor furniture watching the boats go by and the bird life. Plenty of space in apartment. Nice short walk into the village for meals movies ect. Easy to use heating as it was a cold weekend.

A larger T.V. would of been great.

We traveled a long distance to visit Akaroa and the stay has dampened our entire holiday mood’s. Really shit!

1. Upon arrival, we have to hand carry our luggages and climbed 27steps before reaching our room. when we sounded our disappointment to the caretaker who was a lady, she simply replied: All because you have chosen the penthouse studio unit! 2. The property is quite a distance away from the town Center. 30 minutes by walking. 3. The property did not have some very basic things such as bathing liquid, tissue paper. Also, the room is not even air-conditioned. 4. Most of the electrical appliances are of certain age. Some of them could not even function properly. 5. The funniest thing is, the bed room doesn’t even have curtains or blinds. One can see from outside through all the bay windows. The room is therefore totally ‘Transparent’! 6. The caretaker was not friendly at all. We stayed at the property for two nights. The was no ‘hello’ or ‘good morning’ or smile or other form of greetings whatsoever. We don’t think she understands what is ‘service’ and ‘hospitality’. 7. We paid NZD 470 for staying at the property for 2 nights with all the above ‘benefits’. 8. We will not forgive ourselves for booking and staying at such a place and being treated like dirt! 9. We will be extremely careful in future when screening and selecting properties listed by booking.com.

Akaroa on the Beach review

Beautiful location, great facilities, some lovely walks straight out of the door and still close to restaurants and cafes in Akaroa.

The downstairs apartment is a lot darker than the penthouse apartment. Definitely recommend booking the latter if you have a choice, but using the two for an extended family trip worked well.

We were located in a fantastic area with amazing views.

I had to sleep on the fold out bed as my friend slept in the bedroom and it wasnt overly comfortable with minimal sleep

The Location is perfect, Located on a very quite part of the road. nice easy walk back to the restaurants and shops would defiantly stay there again

Lovely location and gorgeous views of the sea just across the road

The view lived up to expectation. beautiful in the summer with the big trees

I am an Asthmatic and unfortunately I did not check the flooring which had carpets through most of the Apartment. it was too cold in Akaroa to open the Unit up so the next day my Asthma was really bad, sadly we had to leave. The Owner offered us another stay which was very kind.

A comfortable spacious stay with wonderful views.

It was clean and tidy, we noticed there was no heat pump and thought it would be cold, as no drapes on front windows. We were pleasantly surprised the 2 x heaters kept the place very warm and toasty. The views were great and the beds were comfortable.

The toilet did not flush always which was a nuisance. The stairs were steep and quite dark in the lower stairwell. Parking spaces, with shared driveways, were confusing when arriving in the dark.

great spot for the atmosphere of Akaroa

location on the harbour edge. comfy bed, great pulsing shower Close to the town and movie theatre . Due to covid there was a lack of tourists so many restaurants etc were closed, but still a lovely town

wifi not too good. kept dropping out. Everything else was great.

Disappointing

Bird song. Location was OK. Kitchen living area was good.

Very poor insulation between floors. One could hear every footstep. Had to ring the owner to complain about noisy people upstairs. The following night was better. My rating would have been higher but for the noise issue.

Amazing location, right at the harbour on a quiet street. Nice apartment with lots of space and every amenity. Host was very communicative, and check in was easy.

On the ground floor apartment, floors were creaky above so you could hear whenever someone was up in the night. Didn't bother me at all, but my partner didn't sleep so well.

The view was stunning . It was lovely getting up in the morning and and having breakfast on the deck, in front of the sea. The bed was very comfy

Perfect location. Quiet, comfortable, private, cozy and relaxing.

The location was perfect. Right on the waterfront with uninterrupted views and a one minute walk to the water. Amongst large trees with plenty of birdsong. A perfect place to relax and unwind. Quiet, comfortable, private, cozy and relaxing. Highly recommend.

Different experience 👌could be better

The bed was nice and very comfortable

View was better than expected!!

The quietness and peaceful. The view was absolutely stunning and relaxing. The sky, mountains, and staring at sea view all day was something. The huge trees in front the property made us feel like being in the forest. Loved the rustic look of the property .

I find the photos advertised in booking.com is misleading. It was disappointing when I first arrived because I was looking forward to chilling at the huge deck from top view but we got the lower unit. When I brought it up With Mary, she made it sound as if it was my problem for not seeing properly but then later I went through her reviews and most of the customers had a similar experience and disappointment as I did so she is aware of it . Perhaps, She should advertised individually for each units rather than grouping together as it is very misleading and disappointing nevertheless the lower ground still had spectacular view and enjoyed my stay there.

Apartment had a pretty view amongst the trees.almost felt like wd were in the forest!Everything that we needed was there .. I especially loved the Frida Kahlo bedspread !!

I had booked the wrong apartment... I tht was had booked the top apartment but when we arrived it was the bottom one ( which by the way was still very nice with a lovely view over to the lake..) The photos on Booking .com , I thought , were a bit misleading ,so I complained To mary as I had been really looking forward to enjoying relaxing on the Sunny deck shown in the photos, after a long 12 day toad trip.... Mary was very upset that we werent happy and apologised she went our of her way to help sort it out and make it right..

We liked the fact it was only a short walk into town so we didn't have to take our car

The sofa in the lounge wasn't very comfy.
