Cheap

Location. You have to take expensive water taxi to go to the beach. Walls are thin, noise from the guests, school and mosque

nothing

they make you pay in advance because they know otherwise you won’t stay there. the worst accommodation in 6 months travelling. insects in the room, wall like paper you can hear all the neighbours, cold water (still ok), bad smell in the room, bad location on the island, had to ask someone to call for us because nobody was there to welcomed us when we arrived, kettle available but no coffee or tea what a joke and overall it’s really expensive regarding the poor service

An amazing view and great place to stay.

A great budget option in the Perhentian Islands within the Fishermen Village. The property stands above the village giving sweeping views of the village, the sea and Besar Island. The property is a 5min walk to the main part of the village and there are numerous restaurants available and small shops. Also, a great snorkelling site is within a 10min walk with lots of anemone coral and anemone (Nemo) fish - right in front of the Nemo Chalet. Rooms are basic but very comfortable. Air conditioning is quiet but powerful. Anis was a wonderful host. She came to greet me at the jetty on my arrival, helped me book a local snorkel excursion and also my return boat ride to the mainland. Some previous reviews criticised the steps leading up to the property. I disagree with this criticism. I agree that the steps may be a problem for weaker unfit people or for travellers who need to carry 20kg cases up the steps. If you fall into either of these categories it might be better to go some where else since getting up the steps may be a struggle. I'm moderately fit and was only carrying an 8kg backpack so had no issues whatsoever. I counted about 70 steps going up the hill to Perhentian Anis' View.

The only criticism I have is that the walls are very thin. My neighbours liked staying up late and watching movies on their lap tops and chatting until the early morning. Not sure if the owners could do more with sound proofing the rooms. I'd suggest bring ear plugs in case you are unlucky and get noisy neighbours.

You get what you pay for

- solid wifi and electricity 24/7 - good A/C (quiet)

- extremely thin walls - no drinking water dispenser - no hangers in the bathroom - no mirror in the bathroom - no soap/shampoo provided - limited storage space (there was only one small bedside table)

No customer service

I messaged the hotel about my problem with booking and they only replied after 10 days, bad customer service.

Property doesn’t reply messages, doesn’t help their customers. bad experience.

Good

Stayed here for one night as came to the island early. Extremely basic but as advertised and had no issues whatsoever. Bed was comfortable enough and had AC. This is in the fisherman’s village so you can get quick boat taxis to Long beach if you’re looking for cheaper accom!

Anis is very polite and sweet, the accomodation was also good but unfortunately it's on top of the mountain, going up and down was abit tiring but overall it was a comfortable stay, will definitely recommend it...

Not very clean

The staff is nice

The guesthouse is located at the top of the village so be ready to climb a lot of steps, the time that I stayed there they run out of electricity two days in a row; so no A/C for half a day!! It wasn’t that clean, specially the showers it seems like they don’t clean it very often and they have a bad smell

The view

It's pretty far of everything, mainly a local village. Facilities quite poor for that price, just head to the island and find a cheaper place there, there are many more than on booking and Hostelworld etc. When we arrived at the accommodation, nobody was there nor knew we made a booking. The bad rating is also for the snorkeling trip, where they told us to walk to another beach 5 Minutes before the start. The walk took us 15 minutes and we still had to wait, that's just annoying.

The property was in the fish market where all the local people live, so you could easily find a taxi boat to move to another beaches even at night time. Anis was very clean and the wifi was really good. The fish market one of the only sites with internet conexion

The price and I had a clean room. But don’ expect miracles. Overall the quality of hotel and guesthouses on perhentians are worse than on mainland. And the price is higher. Here it was oke

The walls are superthin. So you here everything your neighbours are saying, or worse, doing. First night i woke up because neighbour had alarm at 5. instead of putting it out, he snoozed like 7 times. second and third night, i’ve neem woken up because of couple having sex. And, i’m an easy sleeper - but it was annoying.

The upper balcony has superb view of the ocean and the village below.

Some problem with AC thermostat control, i was near freezing in the middle of every night. A portable/wall mounted fan might be useful as a backup ventilation in case the room had gotten too cold .

don’t expect much from this property

the host was very nice the pillows were comfy

the property needs little things guests have been requesting for years! like hangers in the toilet when someone showers or in the room. there’s a kettle outside in the common area but that’s it! no cups nor sugar nor nothing so you can just boil water that’s it! we couldn’t even get a spoon we understand that Anis doesn’t want anyone to eat in the room to minimize the risk of having insects like lizards or roches the location is high up needs climbing over 40 stairs no suitable for old people we had children so it wasn’t also easy but ok the room doesn’t have anything. no tv or a closet or toiletries you get what you pay for. only a towel for the duration of the stay no room service but to be fair to the host this is what you have to expect when you pay a discounted price for your stay Anis’s sister has a restaurant and we used to eat there as well they are very nice people
