Drewhouse (The Pods) is a uniquely designed beach house providing luxury while still being close to nature. Set on an acre of pristine native forest in the Sunrise at 1770 estate near Agnes Water, the Pods were designed by Simon Laws of Anthill Constructions .
The house was recently featured on Dreambuild (ABC1) as Beach Shack and also appeared in the September 2012 issue of Vogue Living and more recently on channel 10's The Living Room. To see the Dreambuild episode, google 'youtube pods 1770'
The Sunrise resort has two horizon pools overlooking the ocean, 4 tennis courts, poolside barbecue kitchens and playground just for residents and guests. It is an ecologically sensitive, award winning, gated community, Sunrise's rules on domestic animals means that we cannot accept pets (no matter how small). On the other hand, if you like native animals, then you'll be pleasantly surprised by their number and diversity.
Mature Bloodwoods and Cabbage Palms create a natural garden near the ocean and the famous Springs beach, near Agnes Water, the most northerly surf break on the east Australian coast. You can relax around one of the three pools overlooking the ocean, surf or fish or walk the 4 kilometers of beautiful beaches,
Living, sleeping pods and luxury bath house are separated for privacy and quiet but connected by a wooden covered walkway. Please note that you walk on the raised walkway to get from bedroom to bathroom to kitchen. The wonderful bush land setting and mild sub-tropical climate is full of birds and wildlife, including black cockatoos and grey kangaroos. Rainwater tanks, solar hot water and electricity make this passive energy efficient design a low environmental impact.
The house provides the perfect base from which to walk to the many secluded beaches to which Sunrise has private access. Drive on the private internal roads to one of the beach clubs where you'll find on the north side not only a beautiful suspended 25M pool, and children pool but free tennis and volleyball courts, modern amenities and luxury BBQ huts with solid dining settings and magnificent ocean views.
Life at The Pods centres around the main living pod with its expansive covered wooden deck and circular marble dining table. Move seamlessly through wide doorways from the modern kitchen with 5 burner gas stove, fridge with ice maker, espresso machine, water cooler and quiet dishwasher to outside dining on the shady deck. At the other end of the living pod is the entertainment area. Relax on the generous built in sofas, watch TV or streamed movies, listen to music or play board games. The sofas are also perfect for an afternoon nap or as a bed for an extra guest or two.
The beautiful bathroom pod features walls and floor of Italian travertine with a wall that opens so you can lie in the bath and look at the trees. The deep bath and art glass door that opens in or out allows you to shower inside or 'outdoors'. Water is from rainwater tanks and the leaves from gutters can sometimes leave a slight colour in the water. Rest assured this is a sign of the fresh rain water.
The two bedroom pods hold three single beds each with the easy conversion into king sized beds from two singles. Linen is provided for both single and king sized beds. The floors are of polished native timber and the insect screened windows slide to open an entire wall width to the forest outside. Linen, towels, doonas and bed throws are provided.

Loved the property, the lay out, expecially the kitchen, living and deck area just perfect, the only downfall of the property is that all the ceiling fans need a major overhaul and a couple of fans on the deck would be a great investment. Our Happy Place
This was out 4th and longest stay at the Drewhouse. The Drewhouse and the Sunrise at 1770 eco estate is our happy place. We have been coming for 10 years it's that good! We have had our honeymoon, baby moon and anniversaries here, so is such a special place to us. This time we visited te beautiful Lady Musgrave Island, but really I could have stayed inside this estate the whole time and would have been happy. We will definately be back.

Best Australian Holiday
The Pods are undoubtedly the best place we've ever stayed. Everything about them, from feeling so nurtured and cosy in the main Pod, whilst feeling totally secluded, to the sound of the waves rolling into the nearby beaches. We loved the concept, architecture, and the surroundings to the point that we could've just enjoyed the Pods all day without ever venturing out. We'll be back!

Bush and Beach Escape
The property is gorgeous, well equipped and has beautiful aesthetics. It is probably better suited as a summer house though, as the cold trips outside to the bathroom pod in the middle of the night in the dark would not be everyone's cup of tea. The facilities, tranquility and beaches are divine.

Supendous property, amazing location
I was so excited to come here, but iy was even better than I expected. The house was so enjoyable and beautiful, we loved discovering all the little design details which gave our stay a very personal feel- not surprising, as this house was built for a sister and brother and their families who love this area! I love the way the sleeping quarters are separate from the living quarters which gives you privacy from each other and it is just you and the bush outside the windows. I normally feel a little bit nervous walking by myself away from the main house ( we used to own a farm), but because I knew this was a private gated community I felt safe walking on the walkway to my bedroom at night. Because the beds are so comfortable this makes for the ultimate recharge and restore holiday!! Living room, kitchen, luxury bathroom and deck were stunning too, and we loved being in nature but with a big twist of comfort. My boyfriend enjoyed the kitchen because it had everything! We adored the infinity pool looking onto the beach and spent happy hours there swimming,sunbathing and having a bbq breakfast in the cabanas adjoining the pool house. My 83-year-old mother is not super mobile, but could negotiate the graduated pool steps. In fact the whole place would be reasonable wheel chair friendly except for the entrance walkway at the house (we put wood at the beginning of the walkway to create a tiny ramp so my mother could negotiate it herself). For me, I enjoyed the trail walks on the rocks by the beach. Lastly, the excellent espresso machine was so welcome! We had intended to take a fishing/snorkelling trip but we hardly left the place it was so nice, and my mother said it was the best holiday she had ever had- even better than Bedarra Island (which is super luxury)!! This place is great for families because it facilitates communication and just being together, whilst giving you space to to your own thing if you want to. I would love to return again with more of my family. We really did enjoy every minute, thankyou so much! Marian is an excellent communicator and very accessible, and she and her brother also provides lots of ideas, instructions and advice in the information pack.

Drew House was a perfect getaway. The house, location and amenities were all top quality. The pools were an absolute standout. Communication with the owners was also superb - thank you. The coffee machine made the mornings even more perfect. Will definitely be going back....

Beautiful as always
We just got back from our holiday and I wanted to let you know what a lovely time we had in Agnes again – the Drewhouse is so beautiful, such effortless style and such a connectedness with the bush, our daughter loved the beach clubs of course – it really was what the doctor ordered after all the craziness of 2020. Our friends fell in love with it and I am sure they will back to stay as will we.

Great house in a very special location
We loved our stay here. Being on holidays we wanted to experience something different to our home life. This house and it's location within a really special eco estate provided that. The configuration of the house worked well and we especially loved the outdoor area where we spent most of our time. It was also well equipped, especially the kitchen with sharp knives and a great gas cook top. Beds were comfy with good quality linen and bath towels. Numerous birds came to the bird bath and privacy was good so we really experienced being in the bush which was very relaxing. The estate also has 2 gorgeous horizon edge pools accompanied by well equipped cabanas you can use to have a BBQ. The beach is stunning in a rugged way and feels private. Not your average holiday house and it won't suit everyone but we loved it and hope to be back!

Such a magical little spot. We love Sunrise at 1770 and it was so good to stay at Drewhouse. We all loved the bathroom with the bath looking out into the bush. The pool and facilities were immaculate. The boys were pretty hot without air conditioning but apart from that - loved it.

What a Special Place!
We loved the architectural detail throughout this property! It was such a unique experience staying here amongst the beach bushland. The beds were comfy, the bathroom pod was lovely, and the living area and large deck made the most of being outdoors in the peaceful surroundings. The position was amazing with turtles laying eggs on the beach in the estate. The horizon pool and bbq cabanas had amazing views and were really well designed, we enjoyed breakfast and lunch there. The beach access was via boardwalks and there were lovely coastal walking tracks from beach to beach. We loved our stay here and hope to be back soon.

A M A Z I N G
My family and another family with 4 kids in tow (under 4) recently stayed at The Pods and I must say we enjoyed our stay thoroughly. Communication with the owner Derek was impeccable. The Property Manager Greg was very friendly when checking us in and giving us tips on where to go in the Estate (the whole place is to die for). There is also a place to wash your car in the Estate!
The Pods were very clean and tidy with everything you would need in a home away from home. The kids enjoyed going to the secluded beaches and swimming in that amazing pool with that fantastic view of the ocean.
If you are looking at getting away from the hustle & bustle of City life I would definitely recommend visiting the Pods.

Still a Gem
We stayed here some 11 years ago and was surprised that the property hasn't dated at all. The design, colours etc... are timeless.
It was a real bonus that there were some, in fact lots of cooking ingredients, sauces etc... this makes cooking easy, I left my basic cooking stuff there for your next tenants. It's great to see the cleaner doesn't take these home for her self. The place was super clean, everything worked well.
Dealing with Derek (the owner) made the booking process very efficient and simple., thanks for sharing your place with us.

Near perfection
Everything about the drewhouse is perfect, we loved the interaction with the landscape, as did our 3 kids. The house is spare, but perfectly formed. Everything you need is supplied, and nothing more. The estate facilities are immaculate and underplayed in any mention, however the house is the real star, its perfectly detailed and is a ideal island in the bush.

Every single moment was a highlight
After a long drive from Brisbane and a stressful week of work, we arrived at the Drew house, and we could not believe, from the first moment we put our feet on this property, we felt like being on holidays: Relaxed, far away from work and daily routine...... We had a wonderful time at the Drewhouse. The house itself is fantastic, and Sunrise at 1770 is spectacular: The Beaches, the pools, the playground, the tennis courts....But one of the highlights for me was to sit on the huge deck, enjoy the silence, the nature and the feeling of perfect privacy, and even on a rainy day, I was fascinated by the colour of the bush in combination with the sound of the raindrops falling on the huge roof.
I slept so well, I cannot describe it. And the kids: they have been in heaven. 5 Days was too short, we will be back :-).
On top of that, you will be in touch with the very friendly and welcoming Owners, who put a lot of love in this place . Thank you so much for everything!

What an experience!
My Son, his wife, our grandchildren, my husband and me greatly enjoyed our stay in your unique Drewhouse. It was even better than promised on youtube, the video of which had already been extremely promising. What a fantastic idea to have such a house built in this absolute paradise. Architects should travel there and learn what can be realized!
