Great budget option in Funchal

Excellent budget option. Clean, friendly staff, great location. Perfect for a couple of nights whilst exploring the island.

Only small criticism is the shower had no cubicle, just a curtain so the bathroom floor got quite wet when taking a shower.

Tolle Lage um Funchal zu erkunden

Geräumiges Zimmer mit bequemem Bett und toller Aussicht auf Funchal. Im Zimmer gab es einen kleinen Wasserkocher. Haben spontan für 5€ pro Person Frühstück dazu gebucht. Dieses wurde auf einem Tablett mit einer kleinen Auswahl an Wurst, Käse, Obst, Jogurt, Muffin, Wasser, Kaffee etc. serviert. Dachterasse mit schönem Ausblick. Perfekte Lage um die Stadt zu erkunden!

Wir hatten ein Zimmer direkt neben der Rezeption. Leider insgesamt sehr hellhörig. Das Badezimmer war sehr klein/eng. Kein Föhn verfügbar. Parksituation eingeschränkt. Es gibt rundherum kostenlose Parkplätze in den Nebenstraßen.. diese sind allerdings schnell besetzt. Parkhaus in der Nähe (4,50€ Für 24h). Personal an der Rezeption nicht jederzeit verfügbar.

Razoável.

Gostei da limpeza, mudavam a cama todos os dias. Tive direito a toalhas limpas todos os dias.

As fotografias não correspondem ao local de alojamento. Corredores muito velhos, muitos pisos para subir sem elevador. Muito barulho. A casa de banho cheirava aos esgotos. Horrível. Tem fita cola para tapar buracos no teto. Serve para uma dormida rápida. Mas não voltava a lá ficar. Não corresponde ao esperado.

Calma

a localizaçao é muito boa e os funcionarios do mais simpatico que há. Sempre disponíveis Voltaria com toda a certeza.

O predio é muito antigo e ouve-se bastante barulho e estao a construir dois hoteis muito perto e o barulho de obrras incomoda logo pela manha.

A hot oven

Dining terrace has a nice view of the town, and it’s walking distance to water and shopping centre

One of the worst experiences I’ve had. Rooms were like oven!! We had a twin room on the 3rd floor, 4 flights of unstable stairs, and there were no proper ventilation in the room. Only one very tiny fan between the two beds. I asked for at least another fan which they gave me reluctantly, after I argued about it. It was unbearable. Stairs and corridors were full of dead cockroaches. Lucky we didnt see inside the room.

Good choice for low budget travelling!

Value for money, for such a good price I was happy to be able to book a single room with a private bathroom!

Considering the price, there is nothing to complain about. The beds are not the most comfortable and there’s construction works happening next to the building, but neither of those things really bothered me to be honest.

We didn't expect much for that little money, but it was very disappointing regardless.

Good location, nice staff.

Terrible wifi. Very uncomfortable beds, bed-springs pressed against our backs. When the guests, in the room next to us took a shower, the water in our bathroom turned cold. The floor is very creaky and due to the thin walls you can hear everything. To get in the shower you had to step over the toilet. There were a few hangers for clothes in the room, but there was nowhere to pack our stuff in the bathroom, and no place for towels to dry. At ten o'clock in the morning they hammered something in the corridor for two days out of three we were there. Our view looked out onto a construction site where work had been going on since eight o'clock in the morning, quite loudly. The workers kept staring through the windows.

Exceptional

Great value and very friendly, helpful and accommodating staff. I was able to leave my bag early and late. Great value in a local area but still close to everything. Good wifi and comfy bed.

Superb

Rosa is the best friendliest host ever, obrigada !! Prerry restored and decorated room in an old house. Nice terrace. Thank you for letting us use rhe kitchen.

The house is on a road and next to the main road so you have a lot of traffic nouse. Nights were calm though. Old house means squeaking wooden floors ;) But nothing to complain about the hospitality!

Superb

Staff very helpful and friendly,. Lovely white bed linen and towels. Breakfast good value at extra 5 euros with fresh fruit, fruit juice, yoghurt, cheese and ham, 2 rolls and coffee or tea.

Pillows not very comfortable as filled with foam chips. Necessary to advise older guests that lots of steep steps with no lifts so not suitable for some. Also mattresses quite hard so again not everyone's taste.

location was great and my room had a balcony with some nice views which I wasn't expecting. When staff were around they were friendly and I liked the fact that as I arrived late I could still get access to my room and check in the next morning.

There is a really bad musty smell that affected all my clothes and didn't help with my throat- it was more irritated. Also, I did appreciate having a private bathroom but the installation of it didn't feel perfect and added to the smell and humidty. At night there was still lights that I could see in the hallway and through the persiana which could affect people sleeping. I felt some information was left out by the staff that I felt could have been given when checking in

Very good

Cheapest option in Funchal. For that price everything is ok. Not bad location, clean place. But was very cold in the room. ( They have blankets)) Was staying in Funchal in 2 other places same week- cold inside was only here.

Good

Nice place to stay, very handy for the centre of Funchal and buses all over the island. Room had all that was needed, and there was a kitchen for use of guests too. Room was cleaned daily.

It’s an old building so you can hear the plumbing running through the pipes at night, but this was not a major issue for me.

breakfast at additional 3,5 euros was good.

they sent the entrance code when i was on the plane. i did not have internet access. when i reached i waited in front of the door. another guest came, opened the door, called them, gave the keys and showed my room.

Basic stay above Funchal - but not too far from the center

+ close to bus terminal + nice view to fortress + easy to walk down to city center or shopping center

- construction site next to room - no fridge - location bit difficult to find in the dark

Charming Guest House with perfect location.

This is a genuin establishment of Funchal with a long history. My room was of limited size but with a very comfortable bed and two windows with nice views. My mornings with breakfast at the terrace looking at sunrise was just unforgettable. Mama Rosa make you feel as a VIP guest. I did like to stay in a part of town with bars and restaurants visited mostly by local people. 3 minutes walk to airport bus.

Maybe AC to use for heating in the winter mornings.

Location!. IT WAS AN EASY DOWNHILL. WALK INTO TOWN. It was quiet at night.

The unit was in need of some upkeep. The bottom of the door was rotting. There was evidence of a past water leak above the bed. This gave a mustiness to the air quality.

The whole room was black mold. This can be harmful to health. The beds are very uncomfortable.

I had a pleasant stay. The location is central. just a short note: to walk to the city/downtown will take 10/15m

the staff is helpfull

my mattress of my bed in the first was quite painful cause I could feel the suspension. I got another room and in there it was better. also I had a very nice view in the second room.

Beyond my expectations, I had a very good stay.

I liked it all. Nice location (very close to the city center and specially to.SAM bus station and a big shopping center). Room with all you need and also silent. Very nice staff.

A very silly and minor thing (and just because I am being asked :)), that for sure depends on one's taste: the pillow could probably have been slightly more comfy

View from the balcony is good. Place is clean and tidy. Feels like a nice old school hotel experience.

It felt like the staff felt that me being there was a chore for them, they weren't unfriendly or unkind but there was a definite vibe of this is too much effort to be worth it.
