Excellent

This place is amazing. Right on the beach, large rooms or bungalows on the beach, child friendly. Host is very helpful and friendly as well as the staff. The restaurant was closed during our stay but there are some places close by that you can reach by walking on the beach. Beautiful place were for sure we will return.

Lovely location on the beach!

The location was great, right on the beach and some lovely restaurants close by! Lovely welcome drink and help with our bags to the room.

The room, bathroom in particular, had alot of ants!

Ein Traum direkt am Strand

Ibisbird Guesthouse ist ein Traum! Vom Check in, mit einem gekühlten Willkommensgetränk, bis zum Check out - war der Aufenthalt perfekt. Die direkte Lage am atemberaubenden Strand hat mich täglich verzaubert. Die Zimmer sind schön und sehr sauber. Wenn man das Zimmer gereinigt oder frische Handtücher möchte, dann genügt eine kurze Info an der Rezeption (bildhübsche Empfangsdame in einem traditionellen Sari). Die Mitarbeiter sind sehr aufmerksam und freundlich. Bei meinem Aufenthalt war sogar eine deutsche Praktikantin des Eliya Kinderheims zur Unterstützung des Teams anwesend. Die Besitzerin des Guesthouse (Mrs. Angelika ist eine Seele von Mensch) kommt aus Deutschland. Sie hat nach dem Tsunami mit ein Kinderheim gegründet. Dieses wird ausschließlich von Spenden finanziert. Man kann das Kinderheim auch besuchen - was ich auch gemacht habe. Großen Respekt an Mrs. Angelika und ihr Team für die Leistung im Guesthouse und Kinderheim!

Un bel endroit pour un séjour reposant

La chambre était très grande, les lits double très confortables. Ce guesthouse est situé au bout d'une rue, ce qui renforce le sentiment de calme et d'être privilégiés. La plage est propre, des transats sont mis à disposition Le personnel est charmant: la réceptionniste est magnifique dans son sari traditionnel, le personnel prêt à aider.

A great place to enjoy and relax

I had a fantastic stay at Ibisbird. The bungalow was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The beach is basically right in front of your doorstep and you can enjoy yourself all day long. It is a very quiet place and the beach is almost empty. Perfect. I ate nearly every day at the restaurant attached to the hotel. The food is vegetarian and very delicious. All the of the staff was super helpful and friendly. Would love to come back.

The location is amazing, we had a stunning beach front bungalow which was very clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful they organised us a fantastic trip to see the turtles. The restaurant also has some very good food at a reasonable price.

For the price, it was clean, comfortable and upon the beach. It was basic but sufficient for our needs for a night. The staff were friendly, hospitable, smiling and quite eager to please. They were doing their best.

1. No food was available. 2. The staff did not know about our booking. 3. It was off season and the staff said the resort is actually closed. Why did Booking.com allow the booking then.

Perfect view

The palm trees, the view, the houses, everything is wonderful. We had a fire on the beach and a barbecue on the beach in the first evening. I will definitely come back.

Perfect peaceful beach house

If you like beds, this is the right hotel for you. The beds in the rooms are huge and so are the magnificent beach beds. Those are the only reason you need to chose this hotel. Everything else is also fine at this place. Restaurant is decent, rooms where clean and the staff was helpful if not the most friendly at all times.

Location was right on the beach

Room with a seaview had a view of sand rather then sea. Fan in the room works but makes a lot of noise. Bathroom no hot water Bedlinnen with stains

i guess we were one week to early ( before the main season starts) so most of the hotel was not ready yet

The location with the direct beach access are really nice. lucky for us we were 3 days alone in the resort. breakfast an the coffee was very good.

due to a defect cable there was no wifi connection. the bathroom wasn’t very clean and most furniture had seen better days.

everything was perfect.

the location was good, breakfast was delicious. You can rest on the beach. you can hear the noise of the ocean waves. Owner helped as to attend some activities.

Great for budget but don't expect high standard

Location at the beach is superb. Nice view for the garden and ocean. Staff are nice and friendly. They care a lot about cleanliness around reception and at the beach.

Bed bugs. I stayed for 3 nights and unfortunately at my room I got bitten many times - neck, face, arms and even the legs. Till the very last moment I thought it can't be bed bugs but unfortunately the doctor confirmed it. I travel a lot and that never, even in Africa, happened to me before. I stayed in room no 1 upstairs. Also, they should care more about travelers experience. Like when there is no power for several hours (due to government issues) to at least give candles to every room. To light up the place. It seems more like motel not a hotel. Also, in my opinion it's a bit unfair to ask for a payment in different currency ($) and then rip off for the exchange into rupies (seriously, they set an imaginary dollar's exchange rate for 210 when it's actually 300). Not cool behaviour.

The location is perfect and beautiful, 15 min walking from the city.

There is no kitchen for public use, as it is marked on booking.com Big disappointment for us, because we always look for places with a kitchen. One day the door locked, so we got stucked in our room for half an hour until we solved the problem on our own. They moved us to other bungalow, but first thing we saw was stinky water coming out from the water exit in the bathroom. Problem solved after some time, but we didn't get any compansation for the lost time. Personel was ok, but just ok. They were sometimes mean to us.

terrible never ever

the room doesnt match booking description, small, dark, placed underground level, no tile floor, two beds, dirty mosquito net with holes, only one plug which could have been used for phone charging, no hot water, dirty bathroom, ventilator so noisy that we werent able to sleep, booked for 3 nights, we stayed only 2, no offer for compensation (we said, we didnt want back money, but we wouldnt pay for motorbike (as compensation), bike was returned as rented and with half tank (we didnt get full tank when renting), view from room wasnt garden view but rubish site and back side of kitchen, room was too hot and even when opening all windows no fresh air let in. instead of brushing sand they shoul care more about maintanance

The location is really nice at the beach

The rooms are old and and we get some dirty towels. After asking we got new and clean towels. At the reception was a menu with prices for softdrink (coke = 200). We ordered some of them and the gave them to us. At the end it costs 300 per drink, because they gave us the 400ml plastic bottle and not the 300ml glas bottle, without saying anything I would not reccoment to stay there. To expensive for what you get

Nice beach, quiet location, beautiful territory. Basic bungalow with all necessary facilities.

It was great to stay at Ibisbird, if we come to Sri Lanka once again, we will stay at Ibisbird.

The object is nicely located, the view is great. The owner is very helpful.

The breakfast could've been abit better, but it was okay. Do not worry about it, because there is a lot of restaurants nearby.

Great location!

If you intent to work over internet, mind that hotel stuff turn off internet from time to time, and if you want to have somewhat reasonable internet connection, they will force you to read a note about harm of 5G technology on the environment (they don’t have it though), an then charge you 5$ for internet, and turn it on… but for a while :(
