About this cottage rental
Spectacular views, private boat dock, partial Air-conditioning, 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, Long Pond Cottage is located on the shore of Long Pond; a glacially formed lake. The largest lake on Mount Desert Island boasts miles of shoreline and spring fed fresh water. Unobstructed lake views welcome you at our cottage. Privately owned shoreline and Acadia National Park share this pristine lake. Hiking, biking, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, swimming and water sports are out your front door. The cottage sleeps 6 with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a full kitchen, BBQ, a deck at waters edge and a private boat dock are all included. Our family cottage is fully equipped for your family's convenience, including cable tv and WiFi. We welcome clean well behaved dogs who will love camp as much as their human companions. Our kitchen includes new appliances; stove and cooktop, microwave, toaster, blender, coffee maker and normal kitchen utensils. There are two bathrooms with tiled showers (one has a shower bench). There is also a new washer and dryer. Canoe and kayak rentals are available on the Lake. Our private dock can accommodate all manner of watercraft up to 22 foot fishing boats with its bumpers and cleats plus a swim ladder for easy access to the water. The entrance(s) and access to Acadia National Park are a few minutes drive. Within the Park, historic carriage paths, hiking trails, horseback riding, biking, and miles of Maine ocean shoreline await your adventures. Close to Bar Harbor, Southwest Harbor, and Northeast Harbor there are many restaurants offering something for everyone's taste. Our family favorites are the fresh lobsters, lobster rolls and everything blueberry. Organic produce, in season, is available throughout the island. A treasure of the island located between Seal Harbor and Northeast Harbor is the Little Long Pond leash free walking and hiking area donated by David Rockefeller. Each day enjoy the spectacular views from the deck or dock. No matter whether you choose to tour the island of Mount Desert, shop in the historic harbor towns, participate in ocean activities, each day you will come back to find families of loons, ducks, and bald eagles awaiting you. Allow time for your canoe or kayak trip to Rum Island, watching the sunsets and sunrises from our deck, viewing the stars at night, and your afternoon swim in the lake.

The cottage had gorgeous views and was the perfect size for our family. Mornings were spent fishing off the dock in the beautiful lake and enjoying some quiet time while having coffee. The cottage was spotless and Lori made sure we had everything we needed. We can’t wait to come back!

Long Pond Cottage provided a delightful home base for us and our pup. It was comfortable, well-equipped, and convenient to everything. Lori was super responsive and helpful. Being right on the lake was lovely and made kayaking easy and fun. We would definitely stay here again!

Lovely property, as advertised. Well stocked and comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay, and Lori’s info sheet was very helpful to us as we navigated the area.

We spent a week at this beautiful place. The view of the lake is amazing. Such a peaceful spot. The house was immaculately clean and well stocked. The owners were very helpful and considerate. The beds were comfortable. The house is in a good location to cover all of MDI/Acadia National Park. We were able to drive to all nearby activities and then come back to the house for a peaceful evening on the lake. We had 4 adults on our trip and did not feel crowded. Highly recommend.

We recently stayed at Long Pond Cottage for a mother daughter vacation with our two dogs and it was everything we had hoped it would be and more. The house itself is the perfect size and very comfortable, with absolutley everything you could need. The natural light and views from the windows make the place feel surreal. Then add in the loons floating by and calling up and down the lake, we thought we were in heaven. The location is perfect with most of all major area attractions in Acadia and Bar Harbor only 15-20 minutes away! I cant recommend this vacation home enough and cant wait to return next year!

Lori was a super host - provided a bunch of good info prior to our stay and was quick to respond to a small issue while we at the cottage. Kitchen was well stocked (had access to everything we needed) and grill worked flawlessly. Beds were comfortable and heat worked well when needed.
We had a fabulous stay - rented kayaks for the week and enjoyed exploring the pond - Rum island, sunsets, etc. The rental place is a short 10-15 minute paddle from the cottage, so no real need for delivery service, although it was offered. Dock at cottage made it easy to enter and exit the water. Hiked several trails in Acadia and all trailheads were within 15-30 min drive. We were there right around the new moon and night sky viewing was phenomenal from deck and dock.
It was always nice to come back to peace and relative solitude of the cottage after a day of exploring. Lori was a great host and their cottage is a real gem!

One of our favorite places we’ve stayed… great view. Couldn’t ask for a better backdrop to bbq dinner each night. Sons caught lots of bass. Hiking all around us and plenty of places to go eat… fantastic cabin and area for vacation

Beautiful home right on Long Pond! Such a comfortable, quiet home. Communication with owner was above and beyond. Having everything on one level was so enjoyable- hard to find in Bar Harbor. Loved the individual thermostats. Furniture very comfortable and warm throws great for curling up to watch tv or sit out on deck. Kayak rentals at end of pond. Delightful vacation!!

We had an amazing stay at Long Pond Cottage despite a few days of dreary weather. The location is tranquil and relaxing, and we loved watching the activity in the water. We enjoyed hikes near the cottage as well as those on the other side of Mt Desert Island and the Carriage Roads for biking were very convenient. The cottage itself was furnished with everything we needed, and we were content to enjoy the games, puzzles & view on the rainy days. The quality of kitchenware was upscale, and a coffee and tea bar, as well as a speaker for playing music were an unexpected bonus! We appreciated Lori’s suggestions of activities, and she was terrific to work with as the island prepared for Hurricane Lee. We highly recommend this cottage!

House was brand new, clean as a whistle, and everything was just where you’d want it to be! Easy in and out, and a nice layout for friends or family… a pleasant central area with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths off it. Very well planned out and right on top of the lake with lovely views!

Everything about this cabin was perfect! It is situated right on the pond- you can hear the water lapping throughout the cottage! The cottage is spotless, comfortable, VIEWS abound and the kitchen is FULLY equipped. My family and I had the very best time hiking Acadia in the mornings then coming back to swim and paddle in the lake! We had coffee alfresco each morning on the lovely deck where we could see and hear the resident loons and give an occasional,"good morning," and a wave to the boaters and paddlers passing by. We spent lots of family time playing cards and board games on the deck and inside around the beautiful farm table. And the icing on the perfect cottage was that our host is a lovely person who was responsive, helpful and completely accommodating!

We had an amazing stay at this house on Long Pond. The house is so nice, with a terrific view of Long Pond, as well as being super comfortable and spacious, and well appointed with anything you need to make a rental house feel like home. We spent the whole week pretty much looking at, on, or in the water. Kayaking and fishing were out major activities and we loved how close the dock was to the deck and the house to make that as easy as possible. Our dogs loved hanging out on the deck too.

We had a great week despite the rainy weather. The house was perfect for a rainy week because of the beautiful windows and lake view. The house had all the comforts of home but felt like vacation. I highly recommend!

Clean, very well-stocked accommodations. Home sits about 2 feet off the lake offering wide-open views of Long Pond. Very quiet location. There were lots of puzzles & Board games available. Owner did a great job of providing extensive info about restaurants and things to do on Mount Desert Island, and was very responsive. Had a wonderful week and would definitely return!

One of the best properties we have ever stayed in. It is very clean and has everything you might need. The house is very organized and functional. The best part is the location! Close to everything, but very peaceful and relaxing. The views are outstanding! I would highly recommend this property to others.

A beautiful cottage to decompress, breathe, listen, and share my love of Acadia with my three 20-something daughters and husband.
Lori (host) was incredibly helpful with information and ideas and responded quickly to inquiries.

All good, nothing negative. The most well supplied, organized, comfortable, and did I mention, most amazing Long Pond experience. Phenomenal views, you are literally right on the edge of the shoreline. Loved watching kayaks and fishing boats pass from either the living/dining room, kitchen or deck. Also loved watching the changing weather. Close to all that make MDI amazing including beautiful harbor communities and of course, Acadia National Park!

This is our second stay at this beautiful property located on crystal clear Long Pond. The house has everything you could need to enjoy Acadia National Park. We hiked, fish, swam, and enjoyed the surrounding communities. But our favorite memories of the trip are watching not one but two rainbows as the sun set, as well as watching the sky dancing of pair of bald eagles beginning their mating ritual. Just magical!

We were 2 couples, 2 sisters and brother in laws. The home was just perfect! Clean and such a lovely location on Long Pond. We spent hours on the deck and dock. The weather was spectacular, and the house was appointed with everything we needed. We so appreciated all the special touches. So close to Bar Harbor and Acadia and then other harbors! Lots of lobsters!!!
We would highly recommend Long Pond Cottage and would rent it again in a minute!!!!

Long Pond Cottage was absolutely perfect in every way. From the moment we walked in, we were in awe. It's a *gorgeous* property with incredible views. It was spotless and is clearly cleaned and kept up with great care and pride. We've stayed in probably 10 vrbo properties throughout the years and this one - by far - was the cleanest and most well-stocked. Everything we needed was there. Seriously, everything. I can't say enough about how thoughtfully outfitted the place was. The kitchen had everything we needed to make some delicious meals, the bathrooms had all the basics (and backups of everything, which we didn't need, but it was on hand), plenty of cleaning supplies, and extra blankets. The dock and the deck were perfection and wonderful spots for morning coffee, afternoon drinks, and stargazing. Reliable internet (one of our party needed to work here a couple of days and had no issue with wifi), tv, games, and puzzles also were available.
The location, aside from being gorgeous, is perfectly situated to everything on the island. We've been coming to Acadia for many years and this was the most convenient spot we've stayed in. 15-20 mins to Bar Harbor, just under 30 to Sand Beach, 5 minutes to Beech Mountain, 10 to Southwest Harbor and 10-15 to the quietside mountains (our favorite). Close to great food spots and grocery stores (IGA in SW Harbor, Hannafords in BH).
Lori was a pleasure to communicate with and very accommodating. I would be thrilled to stay again anytime. What a gem this place is.
I should also mention that our dogs had a blast jumping off the dock, swimming in the pond, and lounging on the deck. It was hard to get them in the car to leave! We love our pups and seeing them live their very best lives was a special part of staying here.
I whole heartedly recommend this place to any and everyone. Truly the ideal spot to immerse yourself in the very best this magical island has to offer. I can't wait to return.

We were very happy with our stay, this house is great, right on the water with dock. It had everything we needed for cooking great meals. It’s very centrally located and it was easy to get to all of our activities in Acadia and Bar Harbor. Lori was great to work with and responded very quickly to any questions we had. We highly recommend this house.

We had 4 generations staying in the Cottege. Great grandma said “it was the best week ever”. Great grand daughter had her first “swim”. The check-in process was simple; show up and enter the door code. The cottege was spotless. There was everything we could need. We usually bring a sharp kitchen knives and fry pans, but there was absolutely no need. The view is beautiful, and we rented kayaks and paddle boards for the week. It is a relatively short row from the rental place to the cottage. Water temp was 67 degrees, so swimming was refreshing, but very enjoyable. Great grandma was in the water almost every day. We had a couple self-inflicted issues during the week, but the hosts were able to fix them immediately. We bought seafood (swordfish) in Portland (Central Fish Market) on the way up, and bought lobsters from Hodgdon Seafood during the week. Both excellent and fairly priced. 2 1/2 pounders! We ate outside at Abel’s lobster pound and enjoyed great food (Lobster Chowder!!!!!) and a beautiful sunset. Stopped for bagels and pastries at Milagros just before Southwest harbor. Very good. The line of the week that summed up the stay was “ I feel like I don’t have to go anywhere”.

The cottage is lovely. Situated on the edge of Long Pond the view of the lake and mountains is spectacular. We rented kayaks which was a great way to explore the lake.
Everything was provided. The kitchen is exceptionally well equipped. I can’t think of anything we needed that wasn’t available. I could have easily stayed another week…or two.

Part of me doesn't want to tell you what a special place Long Pond is so it doesn't get too crowded! This place is right on the pond and was recently redone so well. Everything in the place is top notch and well thought out. Lori even bought us a Lobster Pot when I asked her if she had one. Good people, good place. Highly recommend

Our stay could not have been more perfect. Clean, comfortable, and a remarkable view of Long Pond. We loved sitting on the deck every morning and saw a bald eagle quite frequently. Lots of hummingbirds as well. Swimming was great and we rented a kayak & canoe for the week to take full advantage of Long Pond. House had everything we needed with lots of towels, games, and more. Could have stayed all summer!

24/7 Lakeside Beauty
Loved the loons, the watercraft, the early-morning light across the lake, the full moon rising, swimming and kayaking at the doorstep. House was immaculate and well-laid-out for a family, with every kitchen need well-stocked. Location is perfect: on the quietside of the busy island but within easy driving distance of everywhere you'd want to go. There are plenty of trails within easy reach, groceries and good restaurants in SW Harbor, without fighting the congestion of Bar Harbor and environs. We spent two relaxing and happy weeks we will remember with pleasure.

Very comfortable stay in a perfect location
We had a lovely time at the cottage. It was clean, modern, and well-appointed. Being right on the pond afforded us beautiful views and very convenient paddling adventures. The area was quiet while still in good proximity to Acadia and other points of interest. Lori was an excellent host, staying in touch and making sure we had everything we needed. I hope to have a chance to visit again!

Perfect spot for exploring Acadia
My family of four stayed with our two best friends and their two dogs. The house was the perfect size, clean and fully stocked with everything we would need. Houses are scattered throughout the woods along the lake but felt like we had a great private space. Lori the owner was the best communicator I’ve encountered through vrbo. Very detailed in maintenance and care of the property and overall just the perfect setting for what we were looking to do: hike, bike, boat, fish, be outdoors and relax. No doubt we will return to this cottage!

A Great Brothers Reunion
The house was wonderfully appointed with everything we could want... even bald eagles! Beautiful lake front property and so close to everything Acadia and Bar Harbor has to offer. Clean and comfortable house that I will be coming back to. I highly recommend this jewel to anyone looking to enjoy the beauty of Maine!

Peaceful Cabin on the Lake
This beautiful cabin is located directly on Long Pond. It is on the quite side of Mount Desert Island and is perfect for relaxing in a peaceful setting. Every morning we awoke to stunning views of the mountains reflecting in the still water – great for pictures. It is close to the National Park Canoe Rental location, and we watched canoers floating by each day. Everything in the house is very modern with all new appliances, washer and dryer, refrigerator, and stove. The beautiful kitchen cabinets have self-closing doors. The only thing that is missing is a dishwasher, but some dish soap is supplied. They even have set up a coffee bar for the Mr. Coffee style coffee maker and there was a generous supply of coffee and coffee filters. The wifi is fast with a strong signal which was important as I needed the internet to check emails. There is a nice TV, but we didn’t watch it. The beds were very comfortable (probably the most comfortable that we have experienced with VRBO rentals) which is very important for anyone with a bad back. There are 2 bedrooms with queen beds and one with two twin beds. All linens, towels, and pillows were soft and of good quality. We stopped in Ellsworth to stock up on groceries at the Hannaford Supermarket and were pleased to use the professional grade cookware. There are plenty of good quality dishes, glasses, and silverware. There is also a good set of knives. There were a lot of spices in the cabinet including salt and pepper, but if there are specific spices that you know you like, you might want to pick those up ahead of time. Overall, this was a great cabin and highly recommended.

All Around Amazing
We've been renting on Mt. Desert since 1995. Of all the many nice homes we've stayed in, this is the nicest. The owner put so much love into its design and outfitting it for frequent guests, and we suspect everyone will delight in different details. For us, we loved how the interior colors of natural pine, cloud white, and sky blue worked with the wrap-around windows to make us feel like we were still in nature even when inside. As people who love to cook, we loved how the kitchen had everything we could ever need. And we loved the small touches like the natural light bulbs in the master bathroom, the minimalist railings on the porch, and the most ingenious grill cleaning brush we'd ever seen. This is the perfect location to explore everything Acadia National Park and Mt. Desert Island have to offer. On top of all that, the owner is responsive, helpful, and gracious. You can't go wrong. Just make sure that you don't book your next trip before us!

Gorgeous views of the lake
The cottage was in a beautiful location with great views of the Lake from the kitchen, dining and living rooms. Very clean and updated. Had all amazing dishes, utilities and we cooked 3 meals there and had everything and more - did not have to bring anything really. Loons we saw multiple times a day and even saw one swim under the dock at the beginning of the week. Very close to Acadia and Bar Harbor - would highly recommend.

Tranquility
Long Pond Cottage was the absolute perfect place for our family to relax and enjoy each other. The view is spectacular and the cottage itself is gorgeous and perfectly Maine! We had plenty of space and everything we needed for the week was available (paper goods, pots and pans, cooking utensils, storage for leftovers, soap, shampoo/conditioner, cleaning supplies, games, puzzles…even a hairdryer). The cottage was very clean and has recently been renovated so everything feels fresh. The beds were very comfortable and there were plenty of fans for warm days. The TV was huge…but who needs a tv when you have an amazing view just out the window! We spent a ton of time on the deck and dock with our feet in the water watching the loons, eagles, and kayaks go by. Lori was fantastic to communicate with and checked in with us after we arrived to make sure we had everything we needed. We highly recommend Long Pond Cottage and will stay again if we return to Mount Desert Island!
