Great location but disappointed with condition of hotel and staff

Great location

Room I had was old and of need of maintenance. Was told I had to wait over an hour for dinner even though restaurant was over half empty. Was charged wrong amounts for breakfast and staff were not very responsive when asked to do anything. Have staying at this hotel on numerous occasions and this was certainly my worst experience

A pleasant and comfortable stay in a vibrant area.

Lovely modern interior in an historic building in the heart of Leith. Room comfortable and spacious with nice touches. Staff very nice.

Lots of noise on early Sunday morning from brewery opposite. Prices steep but that just seems to be Edinburgh now, breakfast £21 per person seemed way over the top.

Good hotel for a nights stay as the location was perfect for our Saturday night arrangements

Room was modern and clean. Bar service was very slow, always had to wait ages on drinks. Breakfast staff were very friendly and efficient, 5 stars to them.

Bears little if any resemblance to website photos of rooms. Not feel like a stylish Malmaison anymor

Convenient and easy car parking. Easy access to trams to city. Pleasant area to walk around with convenient shop nearby, as well as reasonable selection of restaurants

Hotel dirty, rooms not cleaned properly (carpets not hoovered). Plumbing noisy and shower constant fluctuating hot/cold. Generally worn out and tired looking rooms corridors and hotel generally. Lift make squeaking noise and bounced on entry, exit. Breakfast charge a rip-off and not very comprehensive choices, restaurant staff not welcoming.

Could be a lovely hotel but dark and drab inside and feeling corporate. Beds were not good, shower and bath difficult to get into, no water available anywhere, staff looking stressed. No information about the city, tram etc.

Location ans shower pressure

Price, cleanliness, TV didn't work, sink leaking, bathroom freezing cold in july.. We received an "upgrade" I'm glad I didn't get to see the original room.

Their will always be Sunshine in Leith !

Interesting building with great History! The interiors don't reflex the building which is sad! The decor is pretty dated and tired! Never met one Scottish member of Staff!

It's a great location! Breakfast was good!

Comfortable facilities, staff very obliging . Food breakfast excellent choice .

Too hot and stuffy

There's no air con and the room is absolutely stifling to the point you can't sleep. You can't open the windows because of the noise outside throughout the night and bottles being emptied into bins early. We chose the hotel because of location to restaurant we were going to but I'll look for another one next time

Visited Leith malmaison before on an Edinburgh visit. Decided to have a Leith only visitand decided

The room was great but a little cold. Tried to ramp up the radiator but as the room was large it took a while to warm up.

1)Il bagno della camera non aveva la doccia e il lavabo era posizionato all’altezza ginocchia …. 2) alla reception sono stati molto disponibili e carini, ma è mancata un po’ di attenzione per i clienti che parlano una lingua diversa dall’inglese e che non parlano un inglese fluido, mi riferisco semplicemente nel parlare con calma l’inglese oppure di aiutare la persona nella comprensione 3) poca equità nel prezzo delle camere

Children do not stay for free in this hotel as it is advertised . You ll have to pay for an extra bed plus half the pric

Old rooms , shower wasn’t clean , food at the restaurant and breakfast were below average . Prices are misleading they are hidden charges .

Thought it was going to be so special - however it was quirky and a little tired.

Check in efficient

Room was nice but small and pretty basic. Bathroom had no fan so steamed up and toilet seat was insecure.

Excellent and would definitely recommend to others and stay again.

Leigh was super nice with lots to do and see. A lot of interesting history around the area too. The hotel was fabulous. They accommodated us with our dog well. We were welcomed to eat in the bar for dinner and breakfast with the dog present, which was great. Also want to say the food was excellent and well priced.

There was nothing I didn't like, it was all great.

Location was very scenic we were able to get a bus to the city centre.

the property was fine the staff were rubbish

although breakfast was supposed to be at 7 o’clock. the door didn’t open until 7:05 and it was another 25 minutes before I got hot food. I was therefore late for work. I spoke to front desk but they said to take it up with Booking.com

ok, room servise so not good enough offering at 9.30 at night.

Well i did leave mr reading glasses worth 145.00 , when i called reception from abroad they said no one had handed in, so ready between housekeeping and me leaving they vanished. No one ever got back to me about this so this has left a really bitter taste. Thanks

Not a very comfortable stay.

Large room. The cooked breakfast food was delicious. Very friendly staff.

Not very well heated. Pillows were uncomfortable. Request to change bedding and broken shower gel bottle did not happen. Takes a long time to have room service from ordering to delivery. Shower takes a long time to heat up and temperature control doesn’t work very well. There was only one person taking orders at breakfast and it was a long wait to order then once ordered it took a long time for the food to arrive. Can’t watch TV while on the bed. Bed side charging only for usb-a ports.

Nice hotel - fitted the bill. Would stay again - just not in Room 205.

Loud whistling noise from extract duct in bathroom. Room 205. Went on all night and till following mornings departure. Room heater barely kept room warm enough despite being on full.

Comfortable Stay

Prompt check in. We were given a free upgrade. Room was comfortable as were the bed and the pillows. Arran Aromatic toiletries in bathroom. Breakfast was well cooked and tasty.

Shortage of staff in bar and restaurant. At breakfast the restaurant was very busy and somewhat chaotic; did not feel very welcoming as we had to wait to be acknowledged whilst maitre d’ spoke to another member of staff. This was not unique to us.

Low-level electrical noise spoiled our stay on this occasion, unusually.

We usually stay in Malmaison because we find it reliably good and consistent. On this occasion all but the noise factor was as expected.

We stayed in Room 309 and that must be on a different side of the building to where we had stayed previously (and since) because there was a noise that kept us awake all night which has never bothered us before! Some kind of ventilator or extractor fan type of noise. Just loud enough to prevent us getting to sleep, although it probably wouldn't have woken us if we'd already been asleep. It was constant. Have stayed in Malmaison since but made a point of saying we didn't want to be near such a noise. Other than that the room was as always very nice, and comfy. Staff as always very pleasant.
