Very good

There was a washing machine and dryer available for use with detergent. Lots of information on the area and parking was provided prior to arriving. Self checkin when we arrived in the middle of the night.

Bathroom wasn’t great to use, was essentially a shower room so the water went everywhere all over the floor and didn’t drain very well. Beds were two singles pushed together and not very comfortable. No AC or fan. Overall, the staff member was very present and willing to help when we had questions though.

Location is great, right downtown, close to everything. The rooms are clean and comfy and had everything we needed for cooking and doing laundry. We arrived before check in time but our room was ready for us which was great.

There wasn’t anything we disliked, we had a great time there and we would be happy to stay there again. Perhaps having a small lamp on the night table would be helpful so we don’t have to get up to turn the light off after reading before bed, but the dimmer in the lights was good so that’s just a suggestion, not an issue or complain.

Danger!

Nothing. We were robbed while there. There was no security or cameras or protection of any kind. Owner refused to assist with insurance or refund.

We were robbed. There was no air in the apartment. We couldnt open the window for fear of another break in. Mold in unit. Very hot and damp. Only one washing machine for all apartments. Water was terrible quality.

My daughter and I had a lovely stay. The apartment is centrally located and all the city sites are a stroll away.

Cosy room in a great location

Great location, everything was in easy walking distance. The hosts were lovely, very friendly and our room was lovely.

Even with the radiators turned off, it was SO hot in the appartment (in February!). There were a few areas in the room that were a little run-down/dated but overall nothing major.

We loved our apartment. We are 5, (3 teenagers) & this was perfect size and location, very central.

We had a door code, keys were waiting for us on a shelf as previously communicated to us via email. We were also met by the host who very kindly showed us to our apartment down the road a little.

The shower was not working, we messaged the host and they had come during the day whilst we were out, to have a look and they fixed it a little but it was still only a trickle. Therefore, it was lucky we had planned to go swimming each day and with Icelandic culture you are required to thoroughly shower before entering the pool/water. So it was ok.

Comfortable lodgings in the heart of the city

Alfred's Apartments is located just off the main shopping street, yet it was a surprisingly quiet place to stay. It was clean and comfortable, larger than a hotel room but not quite a studio suite. The kitchenette had everything we needed to prepare our own simple meals. There's a well-stocked grocery store right around the corner. It's within easy walking distance of the heart of the city and only a 20-minute walk from the bus terminal serving the airport. The building is a century-old, modernized Icelandic house of the old style, so it has character. It's a good pick for somebody who's familiar with Reykjavík and able to make their way around on their own.

The kitchen table and chairs weren't the most comfortable, but then again, we weren't there to sit around the table all day. The on-street parking in this neighbourhood is limited, so be prepared to circle around to find a spot and expect to walk a block or two from your car.

Amazing!

For cooking there could have been warning signs to open windows due to lack of ventilation. Also a cooking pan would have been useful.
