About this house rental

Well-appointed, charming, comfortable, four-bedroom, two bath home with waterfront views, a private sand beach, and wrap-around screened porch on exclusive Kennebec Point in Georgetown, Maine. The house, accessed via private driveway, sits on a broad lawn with views to the ocean and to a large tidal bay beyond the lawn and sand beach. The bay is great for swimming when the tide is in and great for clamming when it is out.

The large, eat-in kitchen and adjacent dining room featuring ocean and bay views is separated from the comfortable, well-finished living room by a large stone fireplace. A well-lit, cozy library flanks the master bedroom with a newly renovated master bath and back-bedroom.

An additional full bath completes the first floor. Upstairs, two bedrooms, each with queen beds and ample closets flank a large hall.

Neighborhood amenities include tennis courts and clamming in the tidal bay (available from the town hall for a very small license fee). Reid State Park, Five Islands, boat rentals, and the best lobsters in Maine are within a few minutes drive.

The home is fully furnished. Bedrooms feature queen beds.

Freeport, the home of LL Bean (open 24 x 7), is about 45 minutes to the south, Boothbay Harbor about the same distance to the north. Portland (and the airport) is about an hour to the south.

Amenities: The eat-in kitchen is fully equipped, including a microwave, refrigerator and Jenn-air stove with oven. There is an on-the-porch gas grill. Satellite television, DVD, telephone. Stereo with iPhone dock. Large stone fireplace. Wrap-around screened deck. Private sand beach on tidal bay. Tennis courts (for a minor fee to the local association). Clamming in the tidal bay (requires an inexpensive license). Fishing, kayaking, restaurants, sailing, shopping, State Park, walking. Wildlife viewing, bird watching (osprey, great blue heron, eagles, etc.)

We also rent the Georgetown Grey House, a smaller cottage across the large lawn from the Georgetown White House. Please see homeaway/316239 .

This was no cookie-cutter vrbo home. This home has history, beauty, peace in spades. We stayed with our children and grandchildren (infant-5 yrs old) and the house accommodated us wonderfully. The huge screened in porch is where we spent lots of time. The lawn down to the beach was ideal for small children to play safely. It was so quiet...and the tides were phenomenal to watch coming and going. We cooked in all meals and had everything we needed in the kitchen. The owner was very responsive to our questions beforehand and during our stay.

The house was exactly as pictured, and the front porch was the whole reason for choosing this rental. We sat there every single morning for a couple hours before venturing out to a quaint town. We drove to Cambden, Rockport, Rockland, Popham beach, Bath and Freeport. I'd love to know the history behind this home. It has the best views! We had a great week here. Fred was very responsive and check in was super easy.

The bay and the house location is wonderful! We enjoyed walking around the bay at low tide or kayaking and swimming at high tide. The screened in porch was great, especially when the mosquitoes arrived. Great bird watching from the porch. Large lawn and very private setting. House had plenty of room for us. We had six people- nice group around the dining table. Kitchen was nicely equipped. And the WiFi worked great - not always the case in Maine. The TV worked with many channels provided and there is a Bluetooth speaker in the living room. A trip to Maine is often like going back in time - this house is vintage and weathered. Charming in it’s own way, but not your choice if you are looking for something modern. This place has it’s own special character. The issue raised by other reviewers - the well water from the tap has a brownish color and a metallic smell. This is real. It’s not unusual for a house of this age and location to have this challenge. It is unpleasant, but not toxic. The owner thoughtfully provides a supply of drinking water. We had a great two weeks here. Had to pull out a day early to avoid big storm Lee. Was sad to leave.

Great house with a lot of history. Enjoyed it very much. The only negative was a foul smell from the hot water. Other than that, everything was excellent!

Relaxing, Quiet, Beautiful area

This property was actually more impressive in person. It is right on the water and is not very close to other properties. The house was well appointed. It had everything we needed. I would recommend bringing some water gallons. The water is safe to use and consume, but it does have a yellowish color to it from the minerals/sediment. Also, there is another house on the property owned by the same owner. It is across the yard so it wasn't a big deal and the renters were respectful and polite. There is a washer and dryer in the basement of this property that is for use by both houses. It was fine, as there is no access to the living area from the homes basement. We thoroughly enjoyed our vacation. We checked out Reid State Park, Five Islands, and we did a boat tour with River Run Tours out of Bath which was very fun. We would definitely come here again! Thanks to the property manager, Lisa. She was very responsive and helpful. She made some great recommendations for things to do.
