Gail was the most wonderful host & her breakfasts were superb. I will definitely return.

An excellent location, right in the heart of Brecon, but not too close to the centre of town as to be noisy. Bedroom and bathroom were perfectly sized for a couple, incredibly clean, well looked after and very comfortable. Breakfast was amazing, the perfect portion size, and with a really good variety of options and customisation. Gail is incredibly knowledgeable about Brecon, with loads of recommendations - I'd take her up on her advice! We will definitely be returning!

Gail is an exceptional hostess - very kind and interesting to talk to and knows how to make a great vegan breakfast. Brecon is an interesting town and the inn is well placed for exploring it. We enjoyed visiting the theatre, cathedral and museum/art gallery (all of which are minutes away on foot), going on a canal ride, and wandering around looking at some of the historic buildings, many of which have plaques.
Behaviour of some other guests was less than ideal one night - Gail very kindly made me a takeaway breakfast so I could catch up with lost sleep

The history, the hosts and the proximity to everything
The shower and plug, tap in basin. No wardrobe for hanging clothes.

A lovely, comfortable B and B. Gail is delightful; she really does take pride in the Borderers Inn.
We would certainly book again in future.
All great.

Our stay at Borderers was a delight. Gail was so incredibly welcoming and eager to please and meet our every need. She was brimming with recommendations for exploring the area and always was there with a smile. The building itself was so cute and quaint.
Bed was a bit firm. We stayed on a Friday and Sat and quite hot with no air con, so we had to leave the window open, but struggled to sleep due to the party-goers. Perhaps having a fan could have been ok, but to be fair, we didn't ask for one.
10.0
The honesty and hospitality of the staff. They explained in detail about the car park. It is suitable for small cars and motorbikes. The fact that they no longer offer to tidy rooms during guest stays etc. They did as advised, check that i needed anything during my stay. The room was spotless.
They also explained that each room is different due to the incredible age of the property. I am not able to manage steps, but i had booked an upstairs room, without realising. They offered to find me a different property to stay at, in case they couldn't accommodate me in a ground floor room( which they did).
absolutely nothing to dislike

Gail the owner was fabulous, she couldn't do enough for you. What a lovely lady. The room was outstandingly clean, bed linen, quilt and pillows were of very good quality. The double bed was really comfortable. At breakfast you could have cereals, hot toast, jam conserves, orange juice, tea/coffee, full cooked breakfast, with a choice of poached/fried/scrambled eggs, on a hot plate. No trouble at all to have a vegetarian breakfast for my partner. You couldn't ask for a nicer place. The owner gail made you feel welcome as soon as you arrived. Will definately be staying there again.
Secured Parking on site also.
Leaving as we both had a fabulous weekend.

Breakfast was fabulous - Gail cooked vegan and vegetarian specialities especially for us and they were extremely tasty! The Borderers is also in a great location - close to the middle of Brecon with good eating / drinking options and great for getting out into the mountains, on to the canal / river etc.

This might be eight or nine out of ten, but for one factor that makes me want to rate it as eleven out of ten - Gail. My partner and I had been touring around mid and north Wales to celebrate our first anniversary and Brecon was our last stop. Gail's hosting was easily the best that we encountered and I can't think of anyone more friendly, helpful and supportive who we encountered. Nothing was too much trouble and she recommeded places to go, places to eat and helped to make our anniversary special.
There were a few quibbles - this is an old coaching inn, so the floors are uneven and therefore the bed had a slightly odd slope to it, for instance. However, everyone reading this review should note is that the entrance is through the old coach entrance and it is just about the width of a normal car. You'll need to turn into it from the town side, not the by-pass side. Luckily Gail was on hand to guide my partner through the driving, but it's worth knowing. Normal cars will be okay, but don't try to fit a van or a large car through there!

Gail’s hospitality was exemplary. We were treated to a very warm welcome, staying a spotlessly clean and well-equipped room. Breakfast was a wide choice and very plentiful. Gail’s knowledge of the park was would match any tourist guide. A must stay place! We are definitely returning!
There was nothing we didn’t like.

A wonderful greeting from Gail, the host. She made sure we were well looked after and gave us plenty of recommendations on places to visit and where to eat. She cooked us a superb breakfast from locally sourced food and it was piping hot. Her warmth, knowledge and commitment to all her guests makes The Borderers the best place to stop in Brecon.
Nothing to improve

Gail at The Borderes was very helpful, friendly and good humoured. Her accomodation is clean and comfortable. Gail's breakfast is well presented and served in a fresh and modern dining area. It was a pleasure to stay at the Borderers!

Hosts accommodating and honest about the limitations of the car park right from the begenning, so I wasn't unduly put out when I had to park my van on the street.
Breakfast was great.

Good location, very clean and comfortable room, delightful owner with the sweetest little dog, and the best breakfast ever. Very accommodating about storing our electric bikes securely and enabling us to charge them safely.

Bed was comfortable, breakfast was delicious and locally sourced. I was apprehensive about the bread after reading a review that mentioned it and I am a baker. But I was pleasantly surprised! It was plain, in consideration for people with nut and seed allergies, as Gail explained, but home made and very flavourful.
Gail gave us some great tips to maximise our time in Brecon. All in all a lovely short break.

The very best about Borderers is Gail and her lovely rescue Yorkie Trixie. we loved that it was quiet, comfortable and central to many amazing places. we were made to feel much more than guest and we feel we have made a friend for life.

Were to begin? The wonderful welcome from Gail put me at ease straight away. The room was the perfect size for us. The bed was super comfortable. The loose leaf teas were a brilliant touch, eco friendly and delicious. I mean, the camomile tea was actually whole dried chamomile flowers! So much care was taken to cook our breakfast exactly the way we like it, I like easy over eggs while my partner likes them easy medium. The bread- home made every day by Gail- Simply FABULOUS. The car park is small, but we expected it because it was mentioned in our welcome email. I only mention it here, because when I told Gail I would leave a review, she asked me to talk about the carpark!

Wow! What a gem of a place 😍
The location was perfect, and opposite a great pub for dinner.
The room was stunning, beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean.
Gail was probably the nicest person I've ever met in a hotel/BnB/guesthouse in all my travels. She was super friendly and helpful, I'll definitely be back.
I came up on my own as I wanted to get up early and walk the Taff Trail the next morning. My biggest worry about the walk was that I wouldn't get enough sleep but it was so comfy that I was asleep before 9pm and up and ready to walk by 5:15am.
Will definitely be back and use it as a base for more adventures, hopefully with friends and families.
It was faultless

Breakfast was excellent with home-made sour dough bread and home-made jam. Good quality bacon and sausages. Locally sourced products. The bed was extremely comfortable and the pillows were amazing. Normally I use my own pillow but there was no need this time. Fresh milk was provided in a flask. Gail is extremely friendly with lots of advice as to where to go and where to eat. It seemed that nothing was too much trouble. Really liked that we didn't have to pay until the end of our stay. Normally you pay before you even see the inside of your room.
Not a big fan of loose leafed tea but I suppose it is more eco friendly. I think that if rooms are not going to be cleaned during your stay then the provision of a cloth, a cleaning product and some bleach would be helpful. Parking was very tight so it does need to be a small car.
