The condo was super easy to get to. Like other reviews, it is just a short walk - less than 5 min., to get to the base of the mountain. It is a cozy little condo with the basic essentials. There’s no elevator so prepare yourself for 3 flights of stairs as you come and go. You MUST!! make sure you not only get the lock box code for the condo (this unit has a physical key / realtor style lock box) but also the digital key pad code for the condo building (we got locked out of the building in the snow). All-in-all it met our needs.

We liked being on the 3rd floor, so no stomping above. The layout was nice to not hear hall noise. And a bathroom for each bedroom was helpful.

We had a great stay. The condo was very clean. The kitchen was fully equipped which made cooking easy. We even used the grill.. bring your own food , of course. The boys walked just a few yards to the slopes and could come and go as needed. It was roomy and cozy, had games and puzzles and the bathroom attached to each bedroom was perfect for us. We enjoyed our stay.

We were very close to lifts and restaurants. The condo was clean and very comfortable.

Upon arrival, we were greeted with a strong sulfur smell and shortly thereafter realized the master bath sink did not drain at all. After starting our shower, we then realized the master shower did not drain at all. The sink and tub did not drain on their own whatsoever, and the master bathroom wreaked of sulfur which leaked into the entire condo. Even though Vacasa acknowledged the problem, nothing was fixed so we had to share the other bathroom with my teenage nephew.

The condo is spacious and worked well for our stay. There is a code for the entry door to the entire building. It was not supplied ahead of time, but was on a card inside the condo. Be sure to obtain the code if you are arriving late. There was no parking pass, dish towels, hot pads or the mixture they wanted used in the dishwasher for hard water. Calling the main toll-free VACASA number was terrible. The phone wait was 'longer than normal', so I texted. Fast reply, but the local manager was not able to deliver the parking pass and dish towels because the door to the building was locked the next morning. (Why didn't they know the code???) Lack of a parking pass for a few days could have resulted in fines, but it worked out ok. The location is good for accessing several hiking trails. There wasn't a welcome book, so here are a few things we learned. There are very limited close--by options for dining at night during the summer. The washing machine is in the basement and requires quarters or CC. Overall, the place is nice, but communication is not great.

Do not stay with Vacasa
This was a nightmare. Multiple calls and many hours spent trying to find a lock code to building (there was only a code to the unit). Locked out multiple times. I could never reach a helpful person. I want a full refund. I can’t get a response from anyone. I was locked out a good portion of the stay. Very frustrated.

Great location
Perfect location for skiers in winter, a short walk to lifts with boots on and skis on the shoulder. A two bedroom condo with a full kitchen, all what you need for a couple of days of skiing. Yes, it was dated, but all was functional and clean. Warning: they lock the building front door at about 9PM and you need a code to get in. It is the same code as the one for the hot tub, but it was not the one given to us by Vacasa, the property management. The correct code was hand written in a booklet left by Vacasa on the desk in the apartment. Make sure to write it down or memorize it to avoid being locked out when coming back from a bar late at night :). They likely change the code now and then. There is a ski lockbox at the south side of the building which fits up to 4-5 pairs of skis. Perfect. The only thing is that there is only one key to the apartment and it is the same key for the lockbox. So everyone has to leave the apartment at the same time, lock it, and go downstairs to unlock the lockbox and take skis. Unless you want to go down and up again. A bit uncomfortable. There are not many dinner options in the area. The only one in a walking distance is the pizzeria at Purgatory Resort, which closes at 8PM. You have to drive to get to a bar. We had an excellent vacation. Thank you.

Family getaway.
I contacted the property manager about firewood and never got a response. And the Wi-Fi password given to us didn’t work. Nice place for our family

Great stay in Angelhouse at Purgatory
The property was a described, fit the family of 5 with 3 boys 14-19 perfectly. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook breakfasts and few dinners, everything was clean. The only problem was not working password for Wi-Fi - we communicated via text with property manager and was told the issue was reported, but it had never been fixed during out stay. Easy check-in/check-out. Great to park the car right close to the entrance. And the lift is 5 minutes walk in snow boots and with skies. Great stay overall!

Great location! With a few tweaks would be perfect!
Condo was modestly appointed and could use updating but we didn’t mind this because it was very clean and generally the furnishings and setup were very comfortable for the price. Location was good. And overall we had a fabulous time and enjoyed our stay. A few things to improve: mattress/hammocks should be replaced… especially master bedroom… it’s the singular important thing after exhausting day on the slopes! More than just one large pot is a must when you are snowed in and must cook for the family… we had to borrow a neighbors pot! Wi-Fi code did not work and Vacasa supposedly submitted a work order but it never happened all week. Lastly the old school key lock box is frustrating .. cannot see numbers well in the dark hallway.. a cipher lock or more modern lock system would be great!

We had also rented another condo close by but need this one as well as there were so many of us. It was perfect for our needs as it let the couple with the little kids to have a space for napping and getting little ones ready each morning

Beautiful views
Family of four stayed for 6 days. Many activities to do at the resort. SanJuan skyway is a must. Give yourself enough time to drive it and a few stops on the way.

Immediate Snowboarding Access!
I only took a few steps from Angelhaus to the ski (snowboarding) lift. I spent so much quality time shredding as I had immediate access to the main Purgatory lifts. It was so nice to walk a few steps back to Angelhaus after snowboarding Purgatory all day. I could easily taken a quick break at Angelhaus being so close, but it was just too fun re-energizing on the backside of the mountain at Dante’s or the front side at Powder House or Purgy’s. Everything worked in the condo and was very well maintained—-Angelhaus was the Perfect spot for snowboarding.

Check in was awful
Our “check in” was a total disaster. The lock box did not work - we had driven clear across the country, had stopped for groceries immediately prior so the car was filled with perishables, we could not get in nor could we get ahold of an actual person at Vacasa, the property management company. After several hours of waiting on hold to actually speak to someone, it turned out that the code had been reset but Vacasa did not know that and kept giving us the old code. I will never book any property with them again. I never had a problem with any VRBO rentals in the past, so you may want to consider not renting through Vacasa. Very bad experience.

quaint condo at ski resort with amazing view
2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms. Small deck with good view of mountains. Fireplace with wood. Gas bbq. Laundry in basement ($2 in quarters). 3rd (or 2nd, depending which entrance) without elevator. Quiet, 1 private parking, 25min from Durango. Great internet. Beach towels for hot tub (when it’s working again). Hummingbird feeder.

The moutains
In general, I love the Colorado mountains. Being able to walk out and be 200 yards from at the ski mountain resort and all the summer activity is great. Family fun. The electric energy, awesome.

The property was clean and welcoming.
We love Purgatory. The beauty is is breath taking. Thou, we missed the electric energy of families by a week. So the ski basin was dead. But the mountain drive to Silverton and Ouray, was nice, due to the slow season. We had a lovely time.

Nice location
The condo worked great for us. It’s a 30 minute drive to downtown Durango but a short walk to the Purgatory Ski Resort. The room could use a decor update but it was very clean and had a great view of the mountains. We enjoyed it and would stay here again.
