About this apartment rental
Enjoy beautiful views of the mountains of Acadia National Park across the bay right from your living room or deck. Take a five-minute walk on a scenic path through an open meadow of wildflowers and blueberries (in season) to our private beach. Try some kayaking or simply enjoy a day of collecting shells, sunbathing or swimming.
The comfortable 2BR 2BA apartment is private with its own outside entrances and deck. The main floor has a kitchen, living room, master bedroom & bath, and a deck with retractable awning and comfortable deck furniture. The second bedroom and bath, as well as the laundry room, are on the lower garden level, which is sunny and bright with large windows. The layout is ideal for two couples travelling together, or for a family desiring a little extra space.
Located on Newbury Neck, one of Maine's most beautiful peninsulas, this is an excellent place to enjoy the best of Maine. Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor are just 35 miles (45 minutes) away - close enough for an easy day trip for sightseeing and shopping - but far enough away to escape the crowds and cruise ships at the end of the day. We are 12 miles from the village of Blue Hill, known for its excellent restaurants, art galleries, summer concerts and a beautiful hiking trail to the top of Blue Hill Mountain.
We have more than 1000 feet of private beach on the property and are within walking distance (1.5 miles) of the public beach and Perry's Lobster Shack where in the summer one can sit outside on the dock and enjoy a traditional Maine lobster dinner.

It was more than we ever imagined. Ginny is so welcoming and pleasant to make our stay so memorable. Her place is peaceful, immaculate and so neat and organized. Beautifully updated and simply elegant. Loved the ocean view from our own porch, deer roaming freely, birds everywhere and paths to walk to the beach or quiet walk on the main road. Lobster and seafood restaurant 1 mile down the road. A treasure of a stay!!

This rental was by far the best that we have stay.

Very clean apartment. The hostess was super friendly and helpful. She gave us space and left clear instructions on how to use the TV, the washer and dryer as well as the dishwasher. Easy walk to a private beach with beach toys, beach chairs, life jackets and kayaks. 30 minute drive to Acadia National Park
Excellent place to stay! ♥️🥰

Ginny has provided everything needed at this beautiful home. It was thoroughly cleaned and in excellent condition. The kitchen was well stocked, bathrooms had plenty of clean, fluffy towels, and gear for outdoor adventures were provided. The location was stunning, we saw deer every evening at dusk. If you want a peaceful location with incredible sunrises, this is the place.

This apartment was perfect for our stay. Ginny was an amazing host and has absolutely everything prepared for her guests. She has anticipated everything that you could possibly need during your stay. The private beach was beautiful, we were able to have campfires a few nights and it is so peaceful. We also enjoyed kayaking with the provided kayaks and life jackets. There is a complete guide book that will offer ideas for local attractions as well as other needed info. The apartment is very weel kept, the views from the porch and beach are wonderful, beds and furniture are very comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with nice quality pots, pans, dishes, bowls, everything you need to prepare your meals. We highly recommend this rental and plan to return next year.

This was one of the best experiences with a vacation rental my family has had. The hosts were amazing, very helpful and very welcoming. The apartment was spotless upon arrival and the property was beautiful. We couldn't have been happier with it.

Staying here in Surry with a magical view of the water and mountains is very calming and serene. We spent every afternoon on the porch enjoying the birds and deer. The property is set up like our home in Georgia - when I look for something, Ginny has put it in the same place I would have - makes it a very comfortable place to stay. See you next year!

We enjoyed our stay here! Ginny’s apartment had everything we needed. We came to visit Acadia NP - about 45 minutes away. The apartment is located in a nice, peaceful, setting away from the crowds. We enjoyed walking on the private beach and the apartment was immaculately clean and quite comfortable. We utilized the washer & dryer, the grill, and the full kitchen. The beds were comfy, and the gas stove in the living room kept us warm and cozy. Wifi was good and we enjoyed watching shows on Netflix through their subscription. Ginny was a pleasure to meet and attentive to our needs! Thank you for the quality accommodations and the info on places to visit! We highly recommend this apartment!

This property was just what we were looking for on this trip. The view, the activities, the very cozy apartment were all perfect. Ginny is a lovely host, caring for our every need. As an aside, dinner at Perry’s Lobster Shack was also a delightful experience. Overall rating: A-Plus!

The accommodations and the hosts (including Abby the resident golden) were outstanding. We typically read all the reviews on a property - no one has written a single negative thing, and we agree wholeheartedly. We were fortunate to be onsite for a supermoon rise with a fire at the private beach. It was spectacular. The only thing I don’t recall mentioned in prior reviews is the port-a-potty at the beach - I laughed when I used it as it was cleanest that I have ever seen. We would highly recommend this rental!

2 couples getaway
This property was wonderful for our trip to enjoy the fall colors. It was a great location for day trips around the area, and a relaxing location for the end of the day. The 2 levels each with bedroom and bath worked perfectly for 2 couples. Ginny was welcoming and helpful during our stay. Lots of thoughtful extras in the apartment. We've already recommended this to friends as the place to stay!

Breathless in Maine
The accommodations were very clean and had everything you could ask for. Ginny and Dennis were wonderful. They were very accommodating and willing to help with any questions. They guided us in our site seeing at Acadia which made our trip more enjoyable and complete. Their property has the most beautiful views of Acadia from a distance across the water with the most beautiful sunrises. This is a fantastic place!

Even After Years Still a Great Place to Vacation
We’ve stayed at Ginny’s several years in a row and it continues to be a great place to visit. Ginny is THE most meticulous and thoughtful landlady ever and the apartment is comfortable and in a perfect location—woods in the back, water in the front. View is beautiful and we enjoyed watching the seals go after the fish while kayaking in the bay. We love the lobster at Perry’s on the nearby dock and this year discovered the Union River Lobster Pot in Ellsworth.

Easily in the top 3 VRBOs that we have experienced
This property was absolutely amazing. From Ginny the owner who was such a delight to deal with to the home itself to the surrounding property and amenities, this place has it all, including a great location really central to all of the different areas of interest in the Bar Harbor/Acadia region. The home is so comfortable and has EVERYTHING you could possibly need. And it was perhaps the cleanest VRBO we have every stayed in. And Ginny was so accommodating and so helpful and really just a fantastic host. We ended up leaving a day earlier the we had planned, not because of any issues with the rental but because we were concerned about a forecasted storm and what traffic would be like getting home if we waited and left on a Saturday. We did not ask for any kind of a refund because it was our choice to leave a day early. But Ginny processed a refund for one night's stay on her own. I've never had any host do that. That's the kind of host she is. If you are planning to visit Bar Harbor/Acadia, stay at Ginny's place - I guarantee you will not be disappointed. We loved it there, and will definitely stay there again if/when we find ourselves heading to Bar Harbor again.

We LOVED it here!
We had such a good experience here. Ginny was so accommodating and literally everything we could need was available to us. She was so welcoming and she was very responsive and helpful before our stay. The location was incredible, we got up early for every sunrise because it looked just like the listing pictures. We enjoyed time both around the property and in Acadia, which is about a 45 minute -hour drive away. It was the perfect location and we would definitely stay here again.

Loon, Moon and Mushroom
We had a great time for the third summer! This time we did a few new things: hiking in Acadia, biking down the road, building a fire by the water and looking at the stars. As usual, the house was clean and well-stocked. We enjoyed talking to Ginny and Dennis and our dog loved playing with Abby.

Just Like Home - Absolutely Awesome!
We cannot say enough about Ginny and Dennis' place. I would say our son summed it up by saying, "Mom, if I could give them a tip I would give them a million dollars!". The apartment was super clean - spotless! It was also lovely, cozy, spacious and fully stocked with everything you needed. We truly felt like it was home. Ginny and Dennis are the most lovely, gracious and helpful hosts. They truly made our experience much more than we expected. As well as their dog Abby, who is the sweetest. They were so accessible and responsive. The apartment and property were even better than the pictures show online. The grounds were amazing! We kayaked, took walks, picked blueberries, made smores at the beach, and just relaxed on the porch. We never thought we would NOT go to Acadia one day, but we could not miss a day doing activities at our amazing rental, and having a lobster dinner at Perry's. Acadia was only about a 40 min nice drive and it was great to be away from busy Bar Harbor. We are so happy we stayed here vs. Bar Harbor. It truly was such a special place and we cannot wait to go back! Thank you Ginny, Dennis and Abby for a great vacation.

Maine Paradise- Dream Spot to get away from it all
Ginny is the most wonderful host. She made us feel welcome from the moment we made our initial inquiry. The place is fantastic, situated with the most beautiful view overlooking the water, Acadia, the gorgeous Mountains and fields of wild blueberries you can eat off the vine. She has kayaks, PFDs, beach towels, bikes, helmets, flashlights, bug spray..... When you walk down to the beach/water there is wonderful seating, a fire pit with everything you need to make a fire even if you are a novice. The water is so refreshing. We swam and used the kayaks. We biked up and down the road to the end and the views were magnificent. About 1.3 miles from the house is an outdoor restaurant/lobster shack that serves lobster, crab and a variety of delicious seafood and sides.
The house, which is next door to Ginny's has a totally private entrance and a wonderful deck with an awning for great shade, views and relaxation. The home itself is well appointed with everything you need and is very clean and comfortable. There is no detail Ginny has left out. She has plush towels, toiletries if you left any behind, first aid kit, maps, list of things to do, etc.. The large master bedroom is air conditioned for the occasional hot night in Maine. There is also a ceiling fan in the living room. The place is spacious with a second very large private bedroom and living space and bathroom downstairs. I was with my husband so we did not need the downstairs, but it would be perfect for a family of four. We only used the downstairs for the laundry room, which was easy and convenient to use. The internet worked great, we were able to set up our Netflix easily on the TV. We did a day trip to Acadia and went up to Cadilac Mountain and hiked around Jordan Pond. It was really beautiful. We also just spent one day hanging out near the house because there was so much to do (bike, kayak, swim, walk, berry picking, reading).
I loved Surry Maine and look forward to coming again. This was really a very special place. Thank you Ginny!!!

Beautiful, peaceful and meticulously clean
Our first trip to Maine and it was one of our best vacations ever. Favorite things about staying here included: private beach and porch, location in walking distance to water, kayaks, floats and bikes for family of 4, fire pit at beach, night sky, blueberries -and the owners are so kind, helpful, they keep this place meticulously clean...we could go on and on.

Heaven on Earth
This property is home away from home, but surrounded by the peaceful serenity of the ocean, mountains, and forest. There was everything you could possibly need and then some. Ginny is an amazing host, kind, knowledgeable and very thoughtful. And it is always a gift when we can bring our 13yo, Golden, Rex! This has been a restful, relaxing, and memorable vacation!

Clean house with nice view
The place is located in a quiet neighborhood about 45 mins drive away from Bar Harbor. The place is very clean with a nice view. Its nice to walk the furry baby in am with the view. Ginny is very friendly and helpful. She and her husband live next door. We went there off season and most places are closed. Ginny was so nice to look up which restaurant is still open and recommended this restaurant with one of the best lobster roll I ever have. We really enjoyed the stay in Ginny's house.

Quiet Area and Beautiful Property
Ginny and Dennis have a very clean and comfortable VRBO. The bedrooms are well appointed. The downstairs bedroom is a private mini suite. The location of Blue Hill is close to explore the greater Bar Harbor area and areas to the west. We enjoyed taking walks on the property and to the owner’s private boathouse. The morning sunrise and water views are outstanding. Ginny is a great host and we enjoyed talking with her and discussing ideas of what to do and explore. We hope to come again for another stay.

Peace and Serenity
As others have written. this place is awesome! After a long day exploring Acadia, this was a perfect place to "come home to". It is a retreat from all that traffic and distress we all have to deal with. No problem parking.! Plus. we came at the height of fall colors. A canopy of red, orange and yellow unmatched in my experience.

Fabulous Accommodation, Wonderful Hosts
For the fifth consecutive year, we had an exceptional experience staying with Ginny and Dennis. Their place is outstanding and they are marvelous hosts. They have thought of everything to make your stay exceptional. The location is convenient to restaurants, shopping, galleries, and many outdoor activities. Their own private beach is spectacular. We have already booked for next year!

Classic Coastal Maine
This lovely apartment in a rural coastal area near Bar Harbor gave us great comfort, beautiful scenery and a welcoming host.

Fabulous experience!!
I cannot say enough good things about our stay at this property, as well as Ginny and her husband. She was very willing to work with us when we needed to make a change to our dates, and once we arrived, she went out of her way to make sure that we had everything we needed and were comfortable. The views from the porch as well as the waterfront (a VERY short walk and directly across the road) were fabulous and we thoroughly enjoyed the little bit of time we actually spent on-site. The apartment was meticulously clean and had everything we needed while there. We did not use the kayaks or the bikes but it was nice to have that option available, and the helpful information in the binder was a welcome perk.
Acadia and MDI were easy to get to, and even our drive over to Schoodic was very easy. We spent half of a day in Blue Hill, hiking the Osgood trail up Blue Hill Mountain (which was OK, but after seeing Mt Battie in Camden and also the views from Cadillac Mtn, it was anti-climatic and too much work for the payoff!) We also went to see the Reversing Falls in Blue Hill near high tide (map provided by Ginny) - it was a VERY cool phenomenon to witness! Also, the gelato at nearby Pugnuts in Surry was yummy and worth the stop!
We were celebrating our 25th anniversary all the way from Georgia and likely won't ever make the trip back up, but we have friends who are planning a visit and we will be HIGHLY recommending Ginny and her accommodations. Thanks for a wonderful three nights!!

Loved it!!
Ginny’s property is absolutely lovely. The apartment is clean, well stocked and very comfortable. Admittedly though we spent most of our time outdoors enjoying the beautiful fields and beach. Ginny was easy to work with and a great communicator. She made us feel totally at home. We have already booked our return for next year!

Very Relaxing!
Ginny and Dennis helped to make this a wonderful experience for us. Their VRBO property was very clean and organized. The campfires on the beach were very relaxing. We had a great time kayaking and biking and, of course, visiting with their dog, Abby. The scenery is spectacular! Our only regret is not booking for a few more days. A full week would have been nice. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

A piece of heaven
This is the perfect place for a Maine vacation or exploration of Acadia National Park. It is lovely, remote, and feels spacious. My favorite thing is the wide lovely blueberry fields down to the ocean inlet, with Ginny's superb collection of inner tubes and kayaks, and not another soul in site for miles. So peaceful. The space itself is well-equipped; everything one could possible want is there (including a flashlight in every nightstand drawer!). Ginny and her husband are gracious hosts; their golden retriever was a huge hit with our kids. In short, we absolutely LOVE this property. Did I mention a homemade ice cream place nearby?

Very Attentive Hosts
This a great house for four people. It is very clean and the owners are attentive to all the details. The porch is a lovely place to sit, with a view of the ocean. We enjoyed kayaking across the road and finally met a seal. Blue Hill, with a good grocery store and several restaurants is about 20 minutes away. We loved the little lobster place on a nearby dock.
5.0
Beautiful quiet location with bikes and kayaks
Great place to stay with views over Acadia but without the crowds. Lovely spacious place on a small peninsula with lots of land including private beach with kayaks for use. We also borrowed the bikes for an evening to ride to the end of the peninsula. Ginny even set up the croquest for the kids to play. Great little lobster shack about a mile away

Be prepared to feel like home!
I don't know if there are enough characters allowed to review our incredible stay at Ginny and Denny's place in Surry. It was our first trip to Maine and we were just blown away by the beauty of the state and the AMAZING hospitality of the property owners. There was such careful attention to every detail and the minute you walk through the door you will feel like this is your home for your stay. We took advantage of everything! The kayaks, the bikes, the campfire by the beach and Ginny's knowledge of all Acadia and Bar Harbor had to offer. It is truly a blessing that they decided to share this little piece of paradise with guests. We cannot say enough about our stay, the cleanliness of the rental unit, and just all the little things the homeowners provided. You would not regret a stay here!
5.0
Secluded, yet close enough to everything!
Firstly, what a location! The home is set way back from the road, which dead ends at the end of the peninsula. Sitting on the deck, we enjoyed wide views over acres of this beautiful private property of lawn and a blueberry field, to the bay and mountains beyond.
Having summered in this area for many years, we know and love this perfect and secluded corner of Maine. The idyllic village of nearby Blue Hill offers many art galleries, a few select shops, restaurants, historic homes and more. For serious Maine shopping, Ellsworth, is a few miles away. And, of course, nearby Acadia Park and Bar Harbor, as well as other scenic villages, are legendary. All this and more is there for you, yet you are located in a quiet, scenic spot far away from the crowds! By, the way, walk to Perry’s Lobster Shack, where you can enjoy the best Maine Lobster on the pier, byob, and walk back home.
Ginny and Denny are amazing hosts. They are pleasant, available in case you need something, yet unobtrusive. They have thought of everything their guests might desire, before we the guests even knew what we wanted! There were 4 bikes and helmets waiting for our use. With life jackets supplied in the apartment, walk down to the boathouse, where swallows nest in the roof, and find 4 kayaks provided for guests! Beach towels are also supplied; as are first aid kits and more!
The apartment itself is well maintained and super clean. Snow white bedding and towels, comfortable mattresses, and a kitchen perfectly equipped, down to a good solid ice cream scoop!
This home away from home is a true treasure, and we feel very lucky to have found it.
