About this house rental
The Palm Tree Cottage is the perfect place for relaxation! We are tucked away in the secluded Whale Point neighbourhood in North Eleuthera which is just a few yards north of the world-famous Glass Window Bridge . By boat we are also 5 minutes south of the prestigious Harbour Island. The cottage is the ultimate getaway for couples, families, or travelers just looking to unwind and enjoy nature. The property is situated on a cove which serves as a nursery for marine life and is teeming with wildlife. From the dock you can observe the many sea turtles, fish, sting rays, and maybe even one of the juvenile sharks! You won’t fully enjoy the surrounding location until you’ve explored the cove via kayak and experience the the wild life swimming beneath you.
The cove is always quiet, calm, and shallow - a stark difference from the Atlantic Ocean, just a few yards across the street. Imagine being able to wake up and have a cup of coffee overlooking the serene shallow waters of the cove, going for a swim, and then walking right across the street and deep sea fishing off the rocks. There is a beach within short walking distance of our private dock or you can make the quick commute to Harbour Island and experience the world-famous Pink Sand Beach.
Harbour Island also has a wide variety of things to do. If you are looking for fine dining, nightlife, or a spa day, Harbour Island has something to offer. Harbour Island also offers SCUBA trips, excursions, and deep sea fishing trips. The ease of accessibility to Harbour Island is definitely an advantage of staying with us. We have so much to offer and look forward to hosting you!
Car rental is mandatory as there is no public transportation or Uber on the island. If interested in boat rental, I can assist in setting that up for guests.

If you want to see the turtles this is the spot!! So much fun paddling back into the creek with the kayaks.

Like all gems in life… they are hidden in rough terrain. Get yourself a 4 wheel truck and find this piece of paradise. We swam with Toni and Tippy the turtles day and night. Had a visit from a black dolphin while in the water, stingrays and friendly fish everywhere. The home was well appointed with all you need to escape our crazy world. We will be back soon!! Thank you

This is the ultimate, peaceful getaway. My daughter and I came in March and had to return to bring my husband and son. The view from the dock is amazing, fish, turtles, rays! Water is clear and great to snorkle in to greet the turtles and get a closer look at the colorful fish. Owner is very easy to communicate with and offers great advice to navigate the island.

Magical! This house and location were everything we could have wanted and more. We have stayed on Eleuthera many times but this house was by FAR our favorite and I can't imagine staying anywhere else moving forward. The sea turtles were so much fun to watch! We loved watching them nap, eat and even play with our son. We saw sting rays, barracudas and bonefish as well. We spent hours on the dock sunbathing and watching the sea life. Our son loved kayaking in the cove. Dewitt was great to work with and was super quick to respond when we had questions. I would HIGHLY recommend this house!

Just returned from 10 days at this porporty and we loved it; literally like stepping back in time 50 years. Very quaint and rustic home sitting on the beautiful bay that became more mesmorizing the higher the sun climbed. The dock was perfect for boating, kayaking, or just sitting and watching the turtles swim by. The home had great A/C, hot water and good wifi for those who need it. Great location too, only 20 mins from airport and minutes away from countless beaches. Our host and his Team were also great, would definitely stay here again!

This is an awesome location! Saw turtles and all sorts of wildlife every day. The water is crystal clear and we paddle boarded and kayaked. The house is a little rustic and the road in a little rough but the location is worth it. The dock Is amazing. You can't get in the ocean on the east side but the rocks are cool to explore and enjoy the ocean breeze.

Beautiful setting
Beautiful views from the front porch of the bay. Short walk to sandy beach and rope swing. Very nice dock with plentiful turtles and starfish. Great location for fishing, kayaking, boating and relaxing. Very easy check in and check out. Good communication from host. Wi-fi in the home was an unexpected plus.

Wonderful stay at Palm Tree Cottage
My family and I had a wonderful stay at Palm Tree Cottage! The house is very comfortable, great communication with the owner and caretaker, and the location is superb. We cannot wait to return.

I would give it 5 stars, but for the price, I would have expected it to be maintained a little better.
First, let me list all the reasons why you should rent this place:
LOCATION! The cottage is located at the south end of the Harbor and a little more protected by the wind than most of the harbor when it's windy (and it was windy for several nights & days during our stay)
THE DOCK! The dock is a "window into the sea" where we witnessed quite a few fish and sea turtles! In fact, there were ALWAYS sea turtles there. I think a couple of them live under a board under the dock, so they were always around.
THE VIEW! Just sitting on the deck or dock and looking out at the crystal-clear green waters or even the sunset was surreal.
THE STAFF. Dewitt and Cedrick were quite nice. Answered all our questions quickly.
THE KAYAKS were fully functional and worked great. We kayaked around one day just to explore and even found some large starfish!
Also, the master bedroom bed was very comfortable to sleep on, the A/C in the bedrooms worked great (not so much the living room one); No bugs inside; The stove, refrigerator, sink and shower work great and water pressure is good. Oh, they say they have "well" water, but it's actually the front deck is one big tank that they fill with water when it runs low. We tested the water for all sorts of things, including bacteria and it all came back negative, which is a good thing! (hardness was a little high, but that was it).
But, as much as we loved the place, Dewitt Cedrick & all, I've got to say maintenance isn't so great. And I mean the simple things. For the price, we would have expected a cleaner unit and cleaner windows! When 80% of what we are paying for is the view, I would have expected the windows to be spotless. They did have Windex and paper towels though so the next renter can thank me for cleaning all the front harbor facing windows. They were literally so dirty that it looked like I was looking through a fog bank out of them. The floors weren't that clean either and some of the blinds had to be manually rolled up each morning. The electrical meter box is also not latched shut so when the wind blows (which it did for several nights during our stay), it constantly bangs open and closed. One of the worst things is the septic tank or sewer smell that comes from the bathroom. Leave the door open and eventually the whole house smells. The smell might be coming from under the sink, we couldn't tell. :-(

Perfect Get Away!
We love this island, the cottage with dock was perfect, owner & caretakers were very responsive to our needs. We’ll be back!

Very nice cottage, terrific location. A little weak on maintenance.
The bay is fantastic, as is the nearby lagoon (almost next door). The cottage is nice. The living/dining kitchen area is spacious enough and nicely furnished for a 2 BR. The dock is in good condition and the laundry equipment works.
We had to request a plumbing repair in the bathroom, which was done promptly, but one has to ask why wasn't it done before we arrived given their maintenance person knew about the leak. Our sleep was disturbed by a banging shutter, which is one of at least two that are falling off the house. We did a temporary fix for that by tieing it up with clothesline cord. We didn't call on that, because we just wanted to fix it and get back to sleep. One of the kayaks had a broken seat. We fixed that also ourselves, using a piece of webbing strap that I happened to have with me.
Be sure to ask the landlord how you will get access when you arrive. The landlord had sent an email with that information, but it arrived while we were traveling and were no longer looking at email. Fortunately, a man happened to be there delivering water and he knew how to get in. Also ask for a backup phone number in case of problems warranting immediate need to contact management. When we arrived there was no electricity and it took some doing to contact someone in management to call the power company. It was fixed after a few hours.
So, in sum, it is a wonderful little cottage in a terrific location. The owner is nice and is responsive, but needs to be more pro-active about maintenance.

We loved our stay. On day one, we saw turtles, a nurse shark, a sting ray, and star fish, all from the deck. DC replied to all questions, immediately. Ray took us around for a snorkeling tour, and a trip to Harbor Island. Well worth it.

This was a great location for a couple staying four nights and exploring the rustic beauty of the North half of Eleuthera. Dewitt did a great job communicating with us on the check in / out process. Best features: off beaten path (need 4x4), on water w/dock, great WiFi, good water pressure, screened windows, great AC, very quiet, chairs on porch and dock for reading. Sitting on the dock we saw turtles, rays, fish, a small shark and beautiful sunsets. Plenty of linens. There is some good dining within 15 min drive if you don’t want to cook.

Dewitt’s cottage was a great place to unwind and relax. This is our 3rd trip to Whale Point/Bottom Harbour part of north Eleuthera. This is a quiet bay where there are lots of turtles and rays that are frequently visiting the dock and beach area all day. We utilized Dewitt’s car which was so convenient. Ray met us at the airport and it was great to see a friendly and familiar face. Ray has been our water taxi drivers during our first 2 trips. We had everything we needed to enjoy our week’s stay. We stopped at the grocery store and liquor store both not far from the airport. We did have a few dining options with Daddy Joes being one and a few on Harbour Island that Ray ferried us to and from. The cottage has a great dock to sit on and relax all day. There is a beach at low tide that you can walk all the way over to The Other Side a new resort. This is about a 15 minute walk. We truly enjoyed our time at Palm Tree Cottage.

This place is incredible! Dewitt could not have been a better host. This vacation was just as we ima
gined it. Very quiet, and peaceful. Swimming with the turtles, kayaking, and reading books on the dock and porch was so much fun. We wouldn't change a thing and can't wait to be there next year.
