Perfect for our half term break!

Found the beds really comfortable, all the staff really friendly and the breakfasts excellent. We also found the meals in the bar and restaurant very good. The location was good for us as we wanted to visit resorts on the coast. A perfect place to stay for our short break.

Great stay at the Royal Oak

The room facilities were great, the staff very welcoming and efficient The food was just as I liked.The local people were very sociable and added to the experience.

Perhaps the background noise from the extraction system from the kitchen during kitchen hours could be reduced.

Lovely comfortable stay in cosy pub

Lovely substantial breakfast, friendly staff, cosy atmosphere in the bar. Room cosy and comfortable nights sleep

Electrics in room seemed a bit odd by the dressing table, spur coming off one socket to another. Is this legal?

The location was fantastic . sadly that's about it

Firstly before I'd even put my bag down when I walked into the bar I was asked what time I wanted breakfast took me by surprise before I even got a hello .shown room a little tired carpets smelt of wet dog and really grubby, bathroom although functional was outdated, poor lighting , although some sort of cupboard everything dumped on the floor ie coat . evening meal was ok very expensive the lady who served me was lovely I then was asked again what time I wanted breakfast as hotel doesn't open up till 7.30am I then was informed that all doors are locked and alarmed basically I wasn't allowed out (as a smoker ) like to go out early for a cigarette and walk before breakfast to which I was shown an area at the back of the kitchen (bin area ) filthy wasn't impressed . sadly as it being so expensive to eat and drink there poor rooms ,the only thing was great staff

Clean, spacious and comfortable room - excellent food! Would highly recommend!

Lovely pub and location! Had a great meal there and breakfast was great too. Rooms were lovely and clean and there were excellent tea/coffee facilities.

No complaints we had a great stay.

An obvious place to stay overnight or for a weekend break.

Traditional pub downstairs. Very comfortable room. Good food and wine at affordable prices. Helpful and professional staff.

Excellent, comfortable , welcoming, would definitely stay again. Thankyou to all the wonderful staff.

From the moment we walked in to the moment we walked out we were made to feel very welcome . The room and was lovely and clean , food great , staff excellent , would highly recommend .

Nothing to dislike , parking can be difficult but the property is in a beautiful village very much used by walkers. No complaints whatsoever .

Delightful overnight stop while walking the Cleveland Way! Highly recommend!

Everyone was incredibly friendly at the Royal Oak. Dinner was very nice, breakfast was terrific. I was traveling solo, walking the Cleveland Way, and the host even gave me a lift over to the trail after breakfast!

No problems at all.

This is a warm, welcoming pub - perfect after a hard day cycling over the Moors. Very accommodating staff, helped us store our bikes safely, made sure we had a hot meal before the kitchen closed. Breakfast was great too. Thank you!

Pleasant staff , lovely old building, in a pretty village ,history of captain Cook to look at around the village .we also had a meal at the RoyalOak too, .and it was deliciously 😋 would highly recommend 👌

Very pleasant one night stay

Breakfast and dinner were very good. The staff was extra friendly and the location was perfect for our needs.

The beds were a bit on the soft side, and the bathroom shower lacked pressure.

Almost perfect.

Location of the pub was excellent a fabulous village. The quality of the food was also excellent. Michael ran the bar and evening restaurant with rear skill.

What a shame the shower in the room is so poor the water just trickled out.

Not suitable for what I require for an early morning check out to go about my business

Room clean and comfortable

Went down for breakfast at 7.30am and no one was around after calling out a few times the bar man came down the stairs in his Pyjamas and told me that the staff were not in and did not know what time breakfast would eventually be served. Due to time unable to wait and whilst exiting the hotel all doors were locked. Did not like the thought of had I needed to leave the hotel earlier I would not have been able.

our room was at the back of the hotel it was hard to have the window open as the fan from the kitchen started early and turned off late and the smell of food when we looked down there was rubbish in the back yard

1st time really really good, second time, disappointing unfortunatley.

Breakfast always 5* , Beds ( in certain rooms are great, in others, not so much)

Its disappointing to write this as my first review was a straight up 9 whilst I stayed in the cook room. This time in the rose berry room here's a generator or something that starts quite early like 6 am outside the window, I stayed before ( cook room) and it was great, the bar restaurant is really nice and homely, food Is really nice and staff really friendly. I left a laptop charger behind after my second stay in the rose berry room, I called twice, both times I was reassured Someone would call me and never did. The staff there during my stay were nice and the Ladies who serve breakfast in the morning are amazing they cannot do enough. The "cook" room is lovely, the roseberry room, not so much, the tv didn't work in that room either, bed uncomfy and the beds are uncomfortable.
