Perfect

Perfect location - 3 mins walk to the lakeside, but quiet enough for a good sleep. Absolutely amazing view - you can just see the iconic lake view from the terrace while enjoying your tea. Spacious living and dining area, and there are 5 bedrooms, each of them has its own bathroom. Clean, comfy, well equipped, also warm during night. What else can I ask for?

A series of disasters. Would not return here.

Our families are avid visitors to Wanaka since 2008. We’ve stayed at booked various accommodations and enjoyed staying in Wanaka every two years for the Wanaka Airshow. This year however, we were very disappointed with our visit staying at Kylies Castle. A cool reception awaited our visit to Kylies Castle in June 2023. We stayed at Kylies Castle prior to it being renovated. At two of our previous stays, Wanaka Selections offered the Krook in 2016 and 2018 and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We enjoyed the position, ambience and all the Krook had to offer. This time around, we had three families booked to stay at Kylies Castle and receptionist provided only two sets of keys indicating ‘that’s all we’ve got’. This required negotiations within our group re key locations. When we arrived at Kylies Castle at 3pm, we were greeted by a power outage, created much anxiety for all involved. What time would the power be reconnected? How can we cook our dinner? Will we be warm enough as it was getting very cold. We had already unpacked and did not want to move to an alternative address. A response to connection to power appeared to be problematic taking three different electricians to replace and reconnect the power pole fuse. The last electrician who connected the power indicated that the fuse could only take 65 amps, when in actual fact the house created much more and that this would happen again if the electricals were not updated. Luckily the power returned at 7pm. When we contacted Wanaka Selection, we were advised that the power should come on within a few hours but we could move houses around the corner if we wanted too. But we had unpacked and didn’t want to pack and return to the house. We were not offered any candles or matches to combat the lack of lighting. It would be a good idea to have some under the sink, just in case the power goes out in the future. Instructions on how to use the oven would’ve been useful.

We cannot speak highly enough of this amazing property, we absolutely loved it ! Kylies Castle was the perfect house for our family. Check in was super easy, just a block away with lovely staff. The beds are all super comfy and the many bathrooms really clean and spacious with lots of towels. The kitchen was amazing, and open living, fantastic. So much space and everything worked. The location could not be better, a tiny walk to the lake and shops, restaurants etc. we will definitely be booking again and recommending to friends.

We were asked to change our accommodation to Apartments at Upton, as there was some fire damage at the Kylie’s Castle.

Upton Apartments seem to be a newly built property, it was spacious and clean. Good value for money and we enjoyed our stay at the property.

1. There was a bad odour in the dishes and the dishwasher. We had to hand wash the dishes as the odour didn’t go even after two dishwasher washing rounds. It seems like the dishwasher needs a thorough clean. 2. The shower head of the downstairs bathroom came off and needed repairing during our stay. 3. An extra mirror outside the downstairs bathroom is required for people staying and dressing up downstairs.

I don't know what Kylie's Castle is like

Was there with high expectations, but was extremely disappointed

The property had a minor incident (fire in the toilet) in July. Was not informed about this nor was I asked to rebook another property. Received a message quite late - 6.45pm day before I checked in. Was on the road and was not aware of the email. My mistake for not realising that I needed to collect keys from another place. Went there and was informed about the need to change my booking. I had booked a property with 5 rooms with attached bathrooms. What I got was 5 rooms with only 3 bathrooms - not what I wanted! I was told that they had given me the best they could and I could reject it at the time I wanted to check in. Fancy me going around looking for 5 rooms! Had no choice but to take what was given. I do not have any idea of what Kylie's Castle would be, but Rusted Charm would not be what I wanted. I had a super small room, which fitted only 2 single beds, and no cupboard, not even hooks to hang my clothes. Of the 2 beds, one didn't even have an electric blanket. I was told that Kylie's Castle will have a small room like this, but I can't imagine it to be as all rooms have its own attached bathroom. Extremely unhappy about the property not informing me so that I can make my own decisions as to whether I want to take what they offer. The fire was in July, my stay was in November!

Great views and more.

The property has a wonderful view of Lake Wanaka, from almost every room. There were more bathrooms than bedrooms, making it a breeze for the 7 of us staying there. The house is fantastically located, with easy access and a short drive to Cardrona, and a short walk to the town centre for any shopping/food.

Excellent house for our family holiday

The place appears new. All the facilities are working well. The sheets and towels are very clean and so was the entire location. For us from out of town the complimentary hot drinks and washing powders are very much appreciated

squeaky floor boards kitchen floor wasn’t cleaned bathroom door locks not working extra charge for wifi which you had to pay for and login every time you came back to the house and every morning

We didn't have breakfast provided. The linen was good and bathrooms clean. The kitchen well stocked, plates etc. Good living space.

house was really lovely but badly built, although this did not deter from our stay coming from Chch after our earthquakes it is always a consideration. The oven didn't seem to be heating properly and was not clean. The rubbish bins were not clean under the liners.

the tv didn't work, the wifi was expensive and bad quality and there was an issue with the gas/ hot water one evening. this was resolved after about 4 hours but we had to call 3 times.
