About this house rental

We are local hosts with 20 years of experience and 30+ reviews. Trust your vacation to us!

Beechwood is a charming 4-bed/3-bath home nestled on over two acres overlooking Denning Brook. The Denning Brook area is a feeding and nesting ground for many native birds.

Upon entering the home, you are greeted by an open floor plan with a vaulted hardwood ceiling. Twin French doors immediately draw you toward the large deck overlooking Denning Brook and it’s abundant wildlife. The dining area and living room, with skylights, create a comfortable space for the whole family to gather. Attached is a fully equipped kitchen with breakfast table.

The downstairs master suite with a queen bed has a private bathroom with a jetted tub. A second downstairs bedroom features a double bed and full bath along with a washer/dryer. Upstairs, a second “master” bedroom with queen bed, a bedroom with two twin beds, and a full bath round out the floor plan. A delightful deck overflowing with flowers, a gas grill and outside seating is the perfect location to watch birds as the sun sets over Denning Brook. The large private lawn is perfect for lawn games or reading.

You get the whole house and all the sunshine and fresh air you could want for a relaxing vacation.

We have been managing property rentals since the year 2000 and have had the pleasure of serving over 1000 tenants since that time. We are physically located nearby to Beechwood in case you need us, but we respect the privacy of our guests.

Located in the heart of Mount Desert Island, Beechwood is no more than 10 min from all the attractions Acadia National Park has to offer including the secluded hidden treasures on the “quiet side” of Acadia National Park. From Bar Harbor and the breathtaking Park Loop Rd to Bass Harbor and its famous lighthouse, you’ll spend more time exploring the wonders of this lovely island and less time getting there. Within just two miles of the house are three wonderful swimming and boating lakes, several spectacular hiking trails, beautiful Somes Harbor, and just up the road, Beech Hill Farm, the only organic farm stand on the island. The free island-wide shuttle bus can be picked up directly from this home allowing for a car-free vacation.

The Island Explorer is a free propane fueled island wide bus service. The bus route goes directly past Beechwood so you can leave your car (or arrive by Taxi) and have a completely car free vacation.

We stayed here as part of a family vacation with my husband, mother, sister, and aunt. My mother has an ankle injury so it was great to find a house with bedrooms and bathrooms on the main level, and easy entry through the front door. It was equipped with everything we needed, including some games and puzzles, and we especially appreciated having a washer & dryer. The property manager was very helpful and responsive. When we couldn’t find a tea kettle, she brought us one within half an hour The house is centrally located on the island so very easy to get to Acadia, Bar Harbor, Southwest Harbor, or off the island, but in a nice quiet area. We were glad we decided to stay here rather than in Bar Harbor. Only a few minor quibbles. Some of the bedroom & bathroom windows don’t have curtains or blinds, and there aren’t enough places to hang towels. There is only enough comfortable seating for 5 people in the living area, so it might be awkward for a larger group. Oh, and a few unwelcoming spiders when we first arrived, including one that built a web across the front door. Overall, the house worked well for us and we would definitely consider staying there again if we return to MDI.

We were impressed with the service provided by Mountain Sea Properties. They were very prompt in answering queries and providing all the relevant information before our trip. The property was spotless when we checked in. The location was wonderful. We highly recommend it for those looking for a place to stay on Mt. Desert Island.

This is really a charming place that says "Maine" all over it! At first I wasn't sure about the location as its about a 15 or 20 minute drive from Bar Harbor. But it turned out to be perfect as Bar Harbor turned out to be incredibly busy and congested with traffic. So this location was really peaceful and offered easy access to Acadia National Park. It also offered the opportunity to discover the west side of Somes sound. There is some really great hiking there and the nearby town of Southwest Harbor is absolutely charming. The house itself is well appointed and has everything needed for a comfortable stay. The communication with the manager was also fabulous as the day before our arrival a storm had knocked out power to the area. So we were well apprised of what was going on ahead of check out. I would certainly recommend this property to anyone visiting the area.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Beechwood. The view from the deck each morning of the fall colors and misty fog layer was truly memorable. As promised, the home was cozy and comfortable, a place to relax and recharge after a day in Acadia National Park and the surrounding area. We found the location to be close to the park, restaurants, and shops, but also off the main road just enough to provide quiet surroundings. The kitchen had everything we needed to make some simple meals. All in all, it was a great place for us to stay.

The property was very nice - we were grateful that it was available during early summer. The house was homey - not resort-like, and as advertised. We felt that there could have been more, and more comfortable indoor furniture (sofas, recliners, etc.) for a house that could possibly accommodate 8 people. The kitchen was clean and had everything we needed, but not spacious - again, homey. We were not dissatisfied at all, but also not "pleasantly surprised" as we have been at some other properties.

The home was just as described and worked out perfectly for our (extended) family of 6. plus our dog. There was no shortage of amenities and we enjoyed gathering around the huge table for meals and board games. The property is close to many park entrances, grocery stores, and is a short car ride to Bar Harbor. Just off a main street, the home itself is secluded and on a quiet road. We enjoyed the deck as well. All-in-all a great place to stay when visiting beautiful Arcadia. :-)
