About this cottage rental
Tucked away in a peaceful setting with lush landscaping is an oasis away from the hustle and bustle of LA. The Contemporary Cottage has the charm of a country cottage on the outside, with a fresh, contemporary design on the inside with a full kitchen. Or, fire up the patio grill and have a barbecue in a shady garden overlooking your private pool.
OPTION: Pool Heating - There is an additional charge to heat the pool.
The Guest House has a living room with high ceilings and a fireplace, as well as a separate full kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom. It is furnished for your comfort, including a high-end sofa bed, a 40” TV with both Cable and 'Roku' channels that includes 'Netflix' movies and 'Pandora' music. The bedroom also has a TV with 'Roku'. Plus we have free wireless Internet. There are private indoor and outdoor dining areas, as well as your own washer and dryer.
The French doors in the living room open out to a brick patio, lovely landscaping, and a large pool for your enjoyment.
Unrestricted street parking is always available, and you have a private gate entrance with keyless code boxes for both gate and Cottage..
Your hosts, Michael and Laura, live in the main house, and are happy to help make your visit to Los Angeles very memorable!
If you book with us, we require that every guest sign a liability waiver for pool and BBQ Grill use.
We follow Enhanced Cleaning guidelines between stays.

My son and I loved our stay. It was perfectly located to easily get to all the hot spots in LA. The pool was perfect for a quick refreshing dip between activities. Michael was so nice and even had a cold beverage for each of us upon our arrival!

The trip was great saw everything we had planned and the cottage was exactly what we needed and wanted. Swimming pool was the kicker. A must stay again.

This little cottage in the heart of Sherman Oaks is a gem! My husband and I stayed there with our 15 year old son who slept on the pull-out and pronounced it to be extremely comfy and cozy! He slept on it for a week - so he would know! The pool was beautifully maintained and completely private. The cottage was private as well, but centrally located near highway entrance for easy getting around! We would definitely stay here again. The kitchen was well stocked with appliances. We found everything easy to use and nicely kept. The owners were in contact with us to answer any questions in a timely fashion as well as communicate any issues (which were none!). Thank you so much to the owners for this perfect little get away cottage we called home for a week!

Overall a very nice place to stay when in LA. Michael, the host, was very accommodating and helpful. If we are in the area again, we wouldn't hesitate staying at "The Contemporary Cottage" again.

The cottage was a perfect place for my husband and I to come home to every night after spending time with our family nearby. It was also wonderful waking up there and having a quiet breakfast while enjoying the beautiful scene just outside our door. It had everything we needed.

Clean, cozy cottage is a great base from which to explore the L.A. area. Michael and Laura are terrific hosts - while they live on the property, they were unobtrusive but readily available if needed. It’s in a very quiet residential area, but is completely enclosed by beautiful landscaping. We really enjoyed our time here and would visit again.

We had a great stay at the contemporary cottage! Michael is a superb host. The cottage itself is super cozy and there is just everything you need to make your stay comfortable. We’re a family of four and there’s enough room for everyone. The pool is just great - we spent a lot of time swimming and just splashing around. We highly recommend this place and if we ever come back to LA we would definitely stay there again!

My wife and I have stayed at Micheal several times in the past 3 years and it is just like home for us. The owners are friendly knowledgeable and always available. The cottage is perfect for a couple it has everything one needs. We will most likely stay again.

We chose this cottage because we wanted to visit Universal and Warner Bros studios without the hassle of the I-5 and it was the perfect location and very peaceful. It had everything we needed and having sole use of the pool was a bonus. Michael was a great host, it was nice chatting with him and he gave us some tips on where to go.

We stayed at this fabulous property from April 22-26, 2023 and we couldn’t have loved it more. We arrived later in the evening and it was thankfully so easy to enter the house, plus it was located in a beautiful neighborhood that felt very safe. Michael was a very prompt and very nice communicator from the beginning of the booking process all the way through checkout. If there was ever any question he responded within minutes. My kids thoroughly enjoyed the private pool (which we did heat for the couple of days that we could use it)from morning until night. It was so nice having a laundry room to use and detergent was provided. They also have shampoo, conditioner, soap, makeup removing wipes, K cups, and special drinks all ready for you to use. Anything you may need to buy can be found at stores nearby, with Rite Aid and Whole Foods being the closest options. I loved the garden and patio so much, if we had had time I would have gladly sat out there all day bird watching and smelling the flowers.
Our main reason for staying in LA was to go to Universal Studios which was only a 15 minute drive away. Really, we drove to all our sightseeing spots and got there in 40 minutes or (more often)less. This includes Beverly Hills, Funko Pop/ Hollywood Blvd, Griffith Observatory, Warner Bros studio, and the La Brea Tar Pits. Entry to the freeway is very close and convenient to the house.
This VRBO will probably be our favorite stay of all the time, I honestly don’t foresee us ever finding a nicer place to stay. It made me wish I had allotted much more of our vacation time in LA and less time at Disney. Who knew you that could find such a relaxing place in such a huge city? Thank you SO much for allowing us to stay on your property, just writing this makes me miss it. Don’t hesitate to stay here, if it’s available, book it immediately!

The property is charming, with a beautiful pool and lovely landscaping. The neighborhood is quiet and convenient to major attractions. The host, Michael, was very responsive and helpful, and he’s also a kind and interesting human being. :) Highly recommend!

FANSTASTIC...very private and well maintained. The hosts respected our privacy while always being available for any questions or suggestions. The cottage had great access to so many great places in LA that made this beautiful cottage a wonderful get away.

We loved our stay at this cottage in Sherman Oaks. The location was perfect for visiting our kids who live in West Hollywood and Resida. We enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner outside by the pool. Michael and Laura are the perfect hosts. They made sure we had everything we needed for our Thanksgiving. We loved meeting and visiting with them. We can’t wait to stay again!

This was at least my fourth or even fifth stay at the Cottage. It remains my 'go-to' place to stay in the region...everything is very comfortable, the kitchen is small but very well stocked, the cottage is quiet, and the neighborhood feels very safe. Never an issue parking on the street right in front of the cottage entrance. And the pool and patio area is lovely! Best suited to individuals and couples, I think. Highly recommended!

My teen son and I stayed in this dreamy cottage while vacationing a few days in LA. We had a car so it was very easy to drive to all the LA attractions and yet come back to a quiet, safe and cozy retreat.
