About this house rental
The house comfortably fits 6 people and can easily sleep 8 with the extra bed. Each bedroom contains its own bathroom and shower, and with the master bedroom there is also a big soaker tub. If it's raining and you want to cozy up inside with a good book, the living room contains 3 couches and the sitting room has a love seat. A big screen TV is there for your enjoyment, too. A spacious kitchen with all the amenities will let a family cook together . And, for your lobster, fish, or steaks and burgers (ask me about our local butcher) there is a barbecue and a big deck with the water view for an evening of good food and connection. The grounds are spacious and secluded. An area for crackling bonfires and star gazing is already set with chairs and waiting. Spend afternoons exploring the Points East Drive which will take you to golf courses, a swimming pool, the Rossignal Winery, other villages such as Murray Harbour, and unique restaurants. The stunning Panmure Island beach and lighthouse are less than a 5 minute drive away. (or you can venture to the beach on our provided bicycles) Aim for a sunset dinner at the Sandspit restaurant right at Panmure. The town of Montague where you can shop for your food, fill your car, eat at restaurants, or go for ice cream is only a short drive from the house. And, the capital of Prince Edward Island, historic Charlottetown is only a 50 minute drive. Or... you can just stay "home" and take the canoe out for a nice, relaxing paddle.

This practical accommodation is wonderfully located near Panmure. The sea views are spectacular.

Our family loved spending the week at this beautiful house / property. We enjoyed plenty of space for the 6 of us (plus dog) and gorgeous views from every window. The house is rural enough to feel like you're away from it all, but not too far from town if you need something. The owner stopped by once to make sure everything was all right, which I appreciated. I can definitely see us coming back in the future.

My husband and I spent two weeks in this lovely PEI retreat. We were joined by our daughter, son-in- law and teenage grandson. The home was large enough to allow everyone to have their own space without feeling like we were sitting on top of each other. We all enjoyed exploring the area around Montague and the points east route. We walked the ocean floor behind the house at low tide and spent many days enjoying the beautiful beach at Panmure island, which is just five minutes away.
Everything we needed was in this summer home, as it came with a well equipped kitchen and lots of linens. While the home is aging and some renovations will begin this fall, this did not affect our enjoyment of the property. My favourite place to view the ocean was from the sitting room by the patio doors. This sitting area would benefit from some new furniture as the furniture currently there is quite uncomfortable
Our host Billy was very responsive and helpful during our stay. He made sure we had everything we needed and he even cut up some firewood so we could have a bonfire.
Thanks for everything Billy. We had a wonderful family vacation and when my desire to be on that beautiful beach overtakes me again, I will be back.

The property is as described. It had everything we needed to cook and bbq. We used the air mattress that was provided and it was excellent. The kids took the kayaks out on the bay and enjoyed them a bunch. We gave a couple of the bikes a spin and they were great. The property is a short drive to Panmure Island beach - which is excellent - one the best on the island. The path to the bay behind the cottage is a bit overgrown but it has been cleared. There is a small lagoon on the property but it is out of the way. The waters edge behind the cottage is not really a beach as it is a bit muddy and has quite a bit of shells and dried seaweed, so bring your swim shoes. The location is very quiet and tucked away nicely - very private. We did find ourselves driving a lot as the cottage is out of the way. The weather on our trip was just ok - so went out more than planned. We would stay again! Thanks Billy!

We had a great stay at this cottage. Really beautiful beach nearby.

Bugs everywhere
Nice looking house however every evening we were inundated with black beetles crawling around.
Also, to get the beach you had to walk through a swamp and weeds to get there.

Good space
The property was large and clean with a fantastic kitchen! The home does need a little sprucing up . Furniture inside off the deck is patio furniture and not that comfortable. The path down to the water is not well maintained and is not a swimming area. On the other hand you are about a 2minute drive from Panmure Island which has an excellent beach, which more than makes up for it. Overall it was a nice place to stay with lots of space and each bedroom had a bathroom. Beautiful area of P.E.I.

Honest Review.
I had a very love-hate relationship with this VRBO.
We are a family of 5. 2 adults & 3 kids. all under the age of 11.
PROS,
- Being able to bring our dog was also a huge plus for us.
Note to all future renters.... please pick up after your dog! I did see some poop, it wasn't a big deal to me, I picked it up, but if you want places like this to stay pet friendly. please don't leave poop.
- communication was great. He responded almost immediately to everything I asked about/for. No complaints there.
- The house is very large and it fit our family without any issues, the kids weren't on top of one another at any point
- All the dishes you need are there. I think the only thing missing was something to crack lobster open with.
- Beach towels, shower towels, extra sheets, and Blankets, all there.
CONS,
- We are from a big city so naturally, we expect to be able to lock up the house at night before going to sleep. We weren't able to lock the garage door or 3 windows on the lower level. The owner came and locked the garage the day after we arrived. The windows I braced with a piece of wood every night before bed, this will require more of his time to fix, which didn't make sense to have him there while we were there. But not being able to lock the house up properly each night was a little nerve-wracking. I didn't sleep well.
- The house is optically clean... if this makes sense to someone.
but window openings were sticky with what felt like grease build up... maybe past sticky fingers.
The kitchen counters were similar, like an oil/grease build-up. I think the floor was mopped before we arrived because the owner came back to get a mop, but we were still left with black feet after walking around the house without shoes.
-baseboards are thick with dust all over the house, and hair in the bathroom drains
- Dishes are all available to you, but I don't believe they check them after someone leaves. Anything we needed, we absolutely had to wash first. Food was visibly crusted to almost everything, and if not food, a sticky film... like grease.
- Spices are available but we were only able to use the salt, everything else the humidity had turned into a hard clump and we were unable to use any of it.
- you cannot access the water easily. It's doable but not easy, the point of choosing this location was water access and we were so disappointed.
Would I book again.... yes, but I'd look for something else first. It would be a 2nd choice.

Très belle propriété pour une grande famille
Belle grande maison avec super belle vue sur l’eau. Très proche d’une super belle plage!

Very attentive owner
Two issues developed and were addressed immediately without hesitation:
1) told owner a wasp nest was developing by the front door. Within minutes he arrived with spray and distributed the nest;
2) when told the heat at night was unbearable for the two young kids (32 celcius) during the heat spell, he went out and purchased an air conditioner and installed it within an hour. Very impressive and beyond expectations

Maritime retreat
We truly enjoyed our stay. The home is clean and comfortable with a wonderful host. We were 3 couples who stayed a week. The house was perfect for our group. Panmure island is everything you want in a beach and only a bike ride or short drive away. We hope to return. Thank you Billy

Lovely, secluded spot
Beautiful, quiet location with gorgeous sunsets near a lovely, dog friendly beach.

Nice place
Cottage property on the island. Billy was easy to deal with, prompt in responses, and the property was pretty much as described. A little difficult to get to the water, but that is the property, not much to be done about it. Enjoyed our stay, close to town but far enough away for privacy.

Peace and quiet with a lovely bay view
Cann’s Waterfront Retreat provides a large house, well equipped, to accommodate a family. We found the self contained bedrooms to be large and convenient, with bathrooms in each. The kitchen was spacious and well equipped. A large dining room and sitting area gave us lots of space. The large deck, with BBQ, patio set and extra chairs gave us a nice outdoor eating area. The fire pit and a small swing set gave our granddaughter a nice place to play.
The house is located in a treed area, well off of the road, to give a quiet country retreat.
Shopping in Montague was good, but you need to remember it is about a 15 minute drive one way. Plan your grocery shopping accordingly.
The house is very close to Panmure Provincial Park, where you will finding a fantastic, long beach.
The property owner was very helpful, providing with us with equipment for a toddler and lots of good local information.
If you are looking for a quiet getaway, you should consider this property for your next vacation.

Beautiful well equipped home on the water
Stayed for 2 weeks July 29th to August 12th - my husband and I ,along with our black lab. Found home very spacious and clean. Very lovely area as a base to explore eastern PEI but only 1 hr to Charlottetown. Home has so many windows and caught all breezes as temperatures reached to 29 C for 1-2 days . Beds were comfortable and all kitchen and bathrooms fixtures were clean and high end. Thank you for a great time Bette and Roland Dumas

Amazing property
Our family (three adults and three kids) stayed here for two weeks. This property went beyond our expectations. We look for a quiet and peaceful getaway and this was it. The property is very quiet and extremely private. The house itself is very comfortable and the kitchen is well equipped with everything you need. Each bedroom has its own bathroom which is very convenient. Plenty of towels, sheets and blankets were provided and the laundry facilities work great for a family on the go. The BBQ is great quality and we cooked most of our meals on it, including lobster and mussels. We really appreciated plenty of outdoor seating and two different decks to choose from. The house gets a fantastic breeze off the water and has lots of windows to open - we never once felt too warm inside even though it was August.
The view to the water never gets old, and we enjoyed afternoons on the deck and evening fires overlooking the water. We also took the canoe on the property around the bay a couple of times. And dug for quahogs during low tide. The gardens surrounding the property are beautiful and attracts a lot of hummingbirds, we also saw several rabbits and one morning a fox was snoozing on the back lawn.
The property is a quick 15 minute drive to Montague for groceries and restaurants, as well as other attractions like golf, boat tours and local artisans. Five minutes in the other direction to beautiful Panmure Island Beach, and the road was quiet enough my husband and I jogged most mornings to the provincial park and back. The beach also features a small cafe which we got ice cream from a couple of evenings and walked the beach.
We also took in some theatre productions in nearby Georgetown and ate at Fireworks in Bay Fortune that is 40 minutes away (well worth the long waiting list).
The owner was very helpful while planning our trip and while we were there as well.
We've stayed at other areas around the island in the past but have agreed that this part of the island was the best location for the quiet, scenery, beaches and convenience to amenities.

A Lovely Home
We were looking for reasonably priced accommodation for our family of six adults, one child and a couple of dogs. This home is lovely, bright, spacious and newly finished. The three bedrooms each with its own ensuite was perfect for us. It is a large private property on a very quiet lot. My sons in law enjoyed collecting clams at the beach on the edge of the property. There is a beautiful ocean/sand beach a short drive away which is not overly populated and is dog friendly. A great stretch for a long walk. Montague is not far away to stock up on supplies and it is easy to plan day visits to other parts of the Island. If you are looking for a quiet scenic destination for a family or group of friends this is perfect. Billy is very nice to deal with and very responsive to your needs.

Needs some TLC!
It's worth noting that all of the reviews on this site are from 2013 or earlier. While this is a nice house in a good location, there are some things that a renter should know in advance. For one, although it is on water, the walk to the beach is quite rugged and not suitable for anyone with mobility issues or small children. Most importantly, the house is in need of some TLC. The furniture is well worn, to the point of being unusable in some cases. The photos show the furniture in new condition; but it is well past that point now after 5+ years and many renters. The first night we were there, one of the boards on the deck broke. The owner fixed it promptly, however the screen for the sliding patio door was missing for the duration of our stay, despite assurances it was being repaired and would be replaced shortly. We enjoyed the area, which is a bit off the beaten path for PEI tourism, but the poor condition of the house prevented us from spending much time just relaxing and enjoying the views around the property. Oh, and the beds are terrible, as is the bedding which should have been replaced some time ago. The head board in at least one of the rooms is not attached to the bedframe and rattles when you roll over in the night. The owner needs to invest in some up-keep!

Excellent experience
Very nice place to stay. Our whole family just spent a whole week in this beautiful house. The owner is very nice people. They almost provide everything for you to use in this one week living. We have 8 adults with one baby. We still feel a lot of room.
The beach in the front is very clean and shallow, very good for kinds to play the water and sand.
There are a lot of clams can dig in the beach.
Our whole family very enjoy this vacation time.
very thank the owner to provide that much service to us!

Beautiful home in a wonderful, peaceful setting
My family and I spent a wonderful week in this beautiful and spacious home! As the description says, the house sits at the end of a secluded long, red dirt driveway, and overlooks St. Mary's Bay. The view from the sitting room or the back porch is beautiful, and while I usually itch to go exploring on while on vacation, this time I was quite happy to just sit and look at the water while everyone else was still getting ready :)
The property is located in a less touristy area of the island, which is nice, because the roads are less busy and it's more peaceful. That said, the beautiful Panmure Island Beach is just a short drive away, and probably could be easily reached by bicycle as well. (Four bicycles are available at the property). There are also several other great beaches in the eastern part of the island, but even Green Gables in Cavendish is not really that far of a drive.
Definitely worth visiting!
