About this villa rental
Our home is located in the sea village of Las Croabas on the far left Northeast side of Puerto Rico roughly 45 minutes by car from San Juan Airport. Our neighborhood is the Cabezes of Los Croabas and our neighbors are wonderful people. Most of them speak English. They are all friendly and kind.
This interior barrio area of Fajardo was given to the residents 45 years ago. It is currently changing ownership one house at a time and going through gentrification slowly. Some of the residents are very poor and there are some abandoned houses. However, our neighbors are wonderful people and walking around Los Croabas is as safe as any other place in Puerto Rico. It's a vacation destination for Puerto Rican residents.
We had the entire house remodeled with full windows and air conditioning in every room. It's now full of light and updated to give our guests a feeling of being at home at the ocean. There are two private residences that can be rented together as a 5 bedroom, 4 bath rental or the top floor can be rented separately as a 3 bedroom, 2 bath rental. The house is a fabulous place for large family gatherings or for a group of great friends to get together to chill. There is a great deck on the third floor with a gorgeous view of the ocean with beautiful sunrises and a great deck out back to visit as the sun goes down.
Each kitchen is fully equipped for the greatest of cooks, with microwaves, gas stoves and refrigerators in each unit. There is a full laundry room with washer/dryer downstairs accessible to both units. The garage can accommodate a large vehicle and is secure. The furnishings are nice, updated, and inviting. Both units have internet TV or Chromecast and DVD's but you'll be too tired for TV. We also have a very extensive library in both units for those wishing to read a little while they relax. We are scuba divers so we have rinse tanks and places to dry gear and store it securely.
All the beds are I-Comfort, Sealy Posturepedic or Stearns and Foster with luxury linens with down pillows. We take sleeping comfortably very serious.
Las Croabas is famous for the Bioluminescent Bay. Our home sits right above the Bio-bay. We are 5 minutes from Seven Seas Beach and 5 minutes from the Las Croabas Marina where you can catch a water taxi to Icacos Island which is a beautiful white sand paradise rarely seen by tourists. In Las Croabas you have access to great restaurants, a small amount of shopping, bars, and even dancing Th-Sat. We even have The Vistas, a great breakfast restaurant in our neighborhood that serves fabulous food every morning during the high season and every weekend throughout the year. You can walk there from our home.
For the fitness buff, running in our neighborhood is great because of the loop with the beach and the hills can be a great challenge. Renting kayaks and paddleboards at Seven Seas Beach can keep those abs in shape. And for the speed demons, they do have jet skis. Seven Seas beach is also home to the Nature Reserve where you can hike to the Lighthouse. It’s a wonderful hike with great views.
15 minutes from our home is Fajardo where you can buy just about anything you need with pharmacies, grocery stores, Walmart, etc. The ferry to Culebra or Vieques can be boarded in Ceiba where you can see some of the most beautiful and clean beaches you have ever visited. Ceiba is about 15 minutes from the house where you can also use the regional airport to go to Culebra, Vieques, or the US Virgin Islands . Just before the airport is one of the largest marinas in the Caribbean and It’s first class. This is where you can catch sailboat excursions, schedule scuba diving, party boats to neighboring islands, and sunset and booze cruises of all kinds.
20 minutes towards San Juan is Luquillo Beach and the Kiosks where there are shops, bars, music, and food of all kinds. You can spend an entire day here. El Yunque Rain Forest is just beyond Luqillo where you can swim in the refreshing waterfalls, eat at roadside kiosks, take hikes and grab a zip line for some adventure. And of course, Old San Juan, Isla Verde, and Condado Beach with all its casinos cannot be missed which is less than an hour away and easy to get to.
If you’re looking to experience a resort atmosphere where parties and waiters with drinks in hand are readily available, our home is not for you. However, if you like to spend quality time with friends or family, experience a little local culture, relax in the cool breeze while enjoying a great cup of coffee and a sunrise, enjoy some beaches and have more to do than you will have time for, then please BE OUR GUEST. We will be happy to have you and we will recommend people for you to use if you’d like to visit any of these places.
*******We must inform you about the utility infrastructure in Puerto Rico. It is not as modern as one might expect. The electrical grid, burdened by new technology and air conditioning, often becomes overloaded, leading to frequent power outages. An overhaul is underway, and the island is transitioning to a solar grid system for backup. The water system, too, is in disarray, with disruptions occurring at least once a week, though they are typically brief. Our house is equipped with over eight gallons of emergency drinking water and a 1,000-gallon cistern with a pump, operational when there is power. Additionally, we store two 55-gallon barrels of water for rinsing dive equipment, which can also be used for flushing toilets, washing dishes, and bathing in emergencies. Our stove is propane-fueled, ensuring your friends and family don't go without food if restaurants are closed. Manual lighting of the stove with a lighter is necessary during power outages. We have taken extensive precautions to prevent these issues from spoiling your vacation. It is rare for the entire island to be without water or power simultaneously, so you can still enjoy your holiday, and issues are often resolved by the time you return to the house. Consequently, as these circumstances are beyond our control, we cannot offer refunds for interruptions in power or water services. We also advise all guests to consider the Caribbean weather before booking their trip. We are unable to provide refunds in the event of a hurricane, and currently, the generator at the home is not safe for guest use. While most tropical storms do not become hurricanes until they pass Puerto Rico, we have experienced two major hurricanes in the last 30 years. Our concrete house, equipped with hurricane-rated windows, ensures your safety even during power outages. Situated on a hill, the property is safe from flooding. In the event of a hurricane that extends your stay, we will do so at no extra charge. If an evacuation order is issued, VRBO and Villa Turquesa will work to refund any unused portion of your stay. ***********

This home was the perfect size for my group of 11 traveling for my daughter's senior trip. The location in Fajardo gave us a few days to enjoy the beaches before moving to a different home in Old San Juan for the remainder of the trip. Kelly had TONS of beach supplies to help our trips to the beach be the best (chairs, coolers, sunblock, bug spray).
Upon arrival we noticed that there was still trash in the bathrooms from the previous guest and the freezer had something spilled in the ice that made it unusable. Over all the cleanliness of the house could have been better, but it was good enough to still enjoy the stay.
It rained a LOT a few days we were there and there was a leak in one of the A/C hoses that caused one of the bedrooms to flood. Most of my clothes and luggage were just fine once they dried out, it just wasn't the way I planned on spending one of my afternoons. When I communicated what happens with the owner, she argued with me about the cause of the flood. After we left the house she messaged and said we left the window open in the room that flooded and that is what caused the flooding. This obviously makes no sense since it was raining and 90 degrees, we would have never had the window open to begin with but I decided to stop arguing with her since I had a video of the water pouring in from the A/C hose. Over all, the stay was ok, but working through conflict with the owner has bruised my memories of our special trip.

Beautiful house that had ample space for our group of 5. There were tons of beach towels, big soft bath towels, and comfy beds. The two kitchens had everything we needed to cook Easter dinner. The AC worked well. The view from the roof is amazing, especially for sunrise and star gazing.
The neighborhood is very hilly, with somewhat narrow roads and not many sidewalks so we did not find it to be very walkable. However, it is only a short drive to many restaurants and Seven Seas Beach. As mentioned in the listing, it is very mixed with some remodeled houses and some abandoned ones. There are many animals, which we enjoyed. We ate at several nearby restaurants and highly recommend Las Vistas Cafe, be sure to make a reservation there!
We experienced many water shut offs caused by the water utility having issues during our stay. The whole neighborhood was affected so this was not in the owner's control. The house has emergency drinking water available and a cistern, but not the type of cistern that is attached to the house plumbing. We had to fill buckets with the water and haul them into the house to flush toilets. We had no water for 2.5 days out of our 8 day stay, so this was very time consuming, frustrating and exhausting. Water was off 1 to 12 hours at a time, and once it was off for 28 hrs! It was unpredictable so we never knew if we'd be able to shower, wash dishes, do laundry, etc. We knew PR infrastructure was not good, but this was worse than we expected.

This house is just as the pictures show. It is a very nice bright home with all amenities and very comfortable bedding. We stayed 5 nights and on the last night enjoyed an evening of star gazing from the rooftop. It was spectacular to see sooo many stars in the sky. The weather was perfect..warm and breezy like tropical paradise as Puerto Rico is. Our trip was five couples and we rented both downstairs and upstairs. Two couples below and 3 couples upstairs. Enough space in garage for an SUV. The area surrounding the home is not what you may seem to think...there are still empty homes that need lots of tender loving care due to the storms but overall the local folks were great and the restaurants were perfect dining selections. We will be coming back and will try to book again in the future. Highly recommend this home!!

The location was great as it was close to the beach so if anyone wanted to sit out the planned excursions it was an easy walk to the beautiful beach and to restaurants.

We had 4 couples and 2 kids get together in Puerto Rico for Christmas. This house was perfect for us. The two kitchens allowed us to all have a nice time. Where the quieter people were downstairs and the people who wanted to be more social work upstairs. We did a lot of cooking in the kitchen was great. Both upstairs and downstairs kitchens. Had everything you need to cook pretty much anything. Victoria who's the property manager was very helpful and responsive. Overall, just a very comfortable place. We were very pleasantly surprised by the wonderful view from the rooftop deck that looks out across the water to the islands and along the coast of Puerto Rico it is just beautiful. The roosters do like to go off kind of early in the morning. So you might want to bring a noise maker but didn't cause us any problem because we always travel with one but if you're a light sleeper I would recommend you bring one.

My family and I had loved the indoor and outdoor ambience, coziness, and charm. We will come back.
It was a bit of magic. The aesthetic of each room and outdoor space offered calm and comfort. The rooftop terrace is amazing. Everything about staying here gave my family just what they needed to make the trip exactly what they needed.

Tropical home away from home
Six of us rented both units as a whole, and were very happy with the property. The upstairs unit is beachy and comfortable. The lower level is a bit more tropical chic, and equally as comfortable. Both are very welcoming, and stocked with just about everything you would need. The rooftop terrace is fantastic! New furniture.. The pictures and listing are accurate - exactly what we expected, and more! The neighbors are very friendly, and we enjoyed our time here. We got to “save” a neighbor’s dog who managed to get his leash/lead tangled in some rebar on the roof of his home…owners weren’t there, I’m sure the poor guy wouldn’t have lasted on the roof in the heat without water. Stay in the garage shade little guy! Five stars for this owner opening up their home, and keeping it in great shape, and comfortable for us travelers. Well done!

Ok experience
Host took forever to respond and didn’t send techs for orders to repair.
Place is good for 10 people but not 12 unless two sleep on the floor.
Bed were comfy and place was clean, overall experience was ok.

Lovely Fajardo
Had a fabulous time in Fajardo! Property was clean and had everything you needed for a fantastic time. Close to lots of restaurants, and beaches. Host communicated quickly if needed, and check in was simplistic. Rooftop deck could use some love, but overall property was as listed.

Amazing vacation!
We decided to stay in Fajardo for a more local experience instead of staying in a "tourist area". This was one of the best vacations we have had. Thanks to our hosts Ernie & Kelly. The house was AMAZING, the interior looks like it was professionally done, very clean, airy, bright and beautiful. They thought about our every need in the home and out. There were kayaks, body boards and goggles for beach play. Every area of the home was thoughtfully planned. We would definitely chose this home again and again and again.

Graduation Trip
La Villa Turquesa was perfect for our group of 11. The five bedrooms allowed everyone to have their own space while still sharing the living spaces in the house. The rooftop and patio spaces were such a great addition to the house. Plenty of outdoor space for drinking coffee and cocktails anytime of the day and night. Location was perfect. We were able to visit Luquillo beach, the Yunque rainforest, and Las Tinajas falls with easy drives. We took a day trip to San Juan with no trouble. The neighbors were friendly and even groceries are super convenient to get from a local store. The owners supplies beach chairs and coolers. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay. Would love to return to Fajardo again. A perfect celebration of graduation, anniversary, and even a rooftop wedding ☺️

This property is beautiful and came fully equip for our family to have an amazing stay. The decor is so cute and made me feel right at home. The rooftop patio was perfect for us to unwind at the end of our days and we enjoyed the relaxing in the living room all together at the end of the night. Will definitely be back.

Relaxing and cozy
My family and friends from church as well as myself enjoyed a great 8 days in this house. The house was very clean and comfortable. The house is close to many stores in the area and just a 47 minute drive to San Juan. Parking was easy; we utilized the garage at the house and were able to park 2 more cars, in addition, in the front. Our neighbors were really friendly, especially on our first day there. If you are interested in a quiet place to relax as well as a house not too far away from the beach, Villa Turquesa is the place to go. This home is perfect to stay in while venturing about. I would definitely recommend it to family and friends. Was a great experience for me, loved it.

A great place to stay for our whole family! Loved it here!
We loved our stay here with our five children and their spouses! It was perfect and we had a great time. The property owners and their hosts were so accommodating and good to work with. The Villa is so clean and modern and updated with beautiful decor with a beach theme. The owners have gone to great expense to see that your stay here is delightful and stress free. The furnishings are very nice and new and modern, and it has wonderful top of the line beds that offer great sleeping! The home is stocked with everything you need. The location is perfect and close to many great attractions. We were just a short drive to everything we wanted to do and loved the nearby Vistas Restaurant for Breakfast, the owner there also gave us great recommendations for restaurants that were fabulous for dinner each evening. We were close to the beach and enjoyed that very much, we enjoyed the Kayaking Bio Bay tour which was also very close by, and we did parasailing and a catamaran day trip that was all just minutes away. We highly recommend this property to you.
