A hidden gem located only a block from the ocean. This charming 2 story, 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath cottage is tucked away in Kahakai Place, a small gated community. Perfect for a romantic getaway or family retreat, enjoy the privacy of you own home during your stay on the Big Island.
Beautiful and modern, enjoy all the convenience of home during your Hawaiian vacation. Located inside the gated community of Kahakai Place, this 1319 sq ft 3 bedroom 2.5 bath house is ideal for the vacationer who values their privacy. Tastefully appointed with comfort and relaxation in mind, you will feel like you’re home whether you are indoors or out.
All bedrooms are located on the second floor to provide added quiet and privacy. The primary bedroom has a king-sized bed with an en suite bathroom. The guest bedroom has a queen-sized bed. The third bedroom is equipped with two twin beds. Also conveniently located upstairs are the laundry facilities. The washer and dryer are free to use, so no need to rush out and get quarters just to have clean clothes.
Downstairs you will find a spacious living room and dining area, as well as a fully equipped kitchen. Relax in front of the 55” flat screen TV equipped with Apple TV. No cable is offered but you'll be able to log in to your personal streaming services. Free wifi is provided, so be sure to connect on your smartphone, laptop, and other gadgets.
Feel the freedom to create those home-cooked meals often missed while you’re on vacation. The kitchen is equipped with all you might need, including an oven, stovetop, dishwasher, microwave, tea kettle, and coffee maker. There is also a BBQ located on the lanai. If cooking isn’t your idea of a relaxing vacation, you’re only a short drive from a variety of great restaurants with menus from around the world.

This was a nice place to stay for our family of 4 (2 being teenagers). Everyone had space and AC units in their rooms. The property had nice places to sit outside and the furniture and beds were comfortable. Kitchen had what we needed to do the simple cooking we did. Plenty of beach towels in one of the bedroom closets. The place is located within a little neighborhood and there is little space around the house, that is my only negative, but that is also just the area. Overall it was a great place to stay!

We had a very nice stay in this property. It was very clean and well stocked. The beds were comfortable and we appreciated the AC in every room. The location is wonderful with a short walk to a beach for a lovely sunset.
Communication was great! We had a slight hiccup checking in but the hosts were very responsive and had the issue resolved very quickly! We would definitely stay here again!

Quiet, close-in proximity to downtown Kona and beach areas. Somewhat walkable if you want to brave walking along a busy road.

The not so good:
Nothing terrible about this place, but it needs some stepping up and the manager needs to spend some there to think about how 4-6 people using 3 bedrooms will use the place and furnish it accordingly. Having only 4 forks and 4 glasses in the kitchen cabinets is not ample. We were constantly washing dishes. The pillows felt like they were 20 years old. The good thing was that we told the manager they were unusable so they brought new ones over right away (that was good). That’s good but the place shouldn’t get to that point. No bathmats in the bathrooms. Washer soap and dryer sheets were used up in one wash load so we had to request more. Same for toilet paper. The furniture could use a deep clean.

Hidden Gem
Property is exactly as described. We love this house. There are two separate porches, loved sitting outside for coffee on the AM and drinks in the PM. Conveniently located near everything! House has a full kitchen; we cooked dinner and breakfast every day. Great beaches nearby, 30 minutes from Waikaloa and quick walk downtown to shoreline. Definitely recommend. The only thing I would change is the purchase of paper plates for morning meal. The kitchen has everything, but is limited on plates🤪 We had to go dishes twice a day, or run the dishwasher 2x daily. Still is a fantastic place.

Exactly as pictured
This comfortable house was exactly as pictured in photos. The outside areas were nicely landscaped. It is a bit off the beaten path but not a far drive from beaches, restaurants, and activities. There were a few minor issues with deferred repairs but First Island responded promptly to my report of a damaged bannister and towel rack. . The proximity of the driveway to the community gate makes the turn into the property a bit challenging. The placement of the security keypad to activate the gate requires getting out of the car. Kitchen is narrow space and a little awkward to work in. Overall it was a cozy and pleasant place to spend a few days in.

Minutes from beach
This house was paradise! Each room clean, had its own air unit, and fan. The grass was so soft and the flowers and trees were absolutely beautiful. The years and house was well manicured and well kept. The automatic sprinklers comes on at 5:44am… I know this because I moved a chair to the grass and was enjoying the stars (because of the time change I was wide awake since 3am) and the all of a sudden I ran for cover with the chair! It was hilarious!!
Anyhow, the house has two floors, so you have to carry your luggage up the steps to your room, but that was ok. My son was so happy when he was in the room with the PS! The little things that make kids happy.
The outside patio has covered areas and sunny areas. The little lizards are everywhere and my daughter named them. It was paradise!
The only glitch was our gps wouldn’t recognize how to get to the house from Alii drive- it’s across from the mile marker 2.5 .. REMEMBER THAT! you’ll need it for when the other side of the street is locked off near the elementary school. At night it is very dark and you’ll have to get yo the house from the main road, Alii Drive. Look for mile marker 2.5, then turn into neighborhood.
The location of the house is wonderful. You’re minutes from the beach, minutes from town, minutes from a local market with vendors- one even MAILS COCONUTS HOME!! We were so excited for this, and we mailed home a painted coconut. Alii Marketplace- look for Jill’s HotStuff.

Great spot on the southern end of Kona
I stayed here with my family (including kids 2 & 4) for a week-long trip. We were very comfortable in the house. My only complaint is that the location does mean it's a bit of a hike out to the kid-friendlier beaches north of Kona (e.g., Kikaua and so on). While I would also note it's not really walkable to many places, that's not a fair complaint because it just turns out that Kona is not just laid out for walking (think Southern Cal), so you'll be driving no matter where you are staying.

Great House a Short Drive to the Shops and Restaurants in Kona
We enjoyed our stay here. We had a 3 year old and a 1.5 year old and some of the decor had to be hidden away from their little hands (breakable stuff). Everything was well stocked and the TV worked in the living room (although you needed to log into your own streaming account to play anything). While we never felt like there was any danger nearby during our short stay, the house is located in a gated community which adds to the comfort.

Nice house
The house is not really a block from the ocean. And the ocean access is all rock walls close to the house. The back gate to the area is locked during the day due to a school and is not accessible and GPS will direct u there everytime. But the home is very nice and only a short drive to beaches. Enjoyed the beach chairs, umbrella and body boards along with snorkel gear provided. Bring swim shoes for sure as beaches have a lot of rocks. I would rent here again because the price is reasonable and location is good for anything on the west coast of the big island!

Really good experience
This was an awesome experience. The property was beyond our expectations. It was nice to come home after a day at the beach and the kids could run around the front yard. All the little extras like everything from spices to boogie boards made our vacation so much easier. Thank you! Enjoyed our stay. Best Vrbo experience to date. Will be back!

Beautiful House
Very painless check in. Everything was very good. Lots of bits and pieces to start with in the kitchen. Lots of paper towels and toilet paper. It doesn't sound like much, but it's the little things that make a big difference! Just a few small things...but nothing that had an affect on the house and our stay. We only had one rental vehicle, but if we would have had two there would have been problems with getting out of the carport as the house that we shared the driveway with had three vehicles so they had two under the carport and the third stayed on the driveway, which would have made it difficult if we had to get two vehicles out. Second was the gate for the gated community was always open as there was a towel placed over the sensor to keep the gate open all the time. Wasn't a huge deal, made it easier actually. The shoreline access points close to the house were not good for going into the water. Be prepared to pack up and drive to find water accessible beach. We had a small issue with one of the appliances so we contacted the mgmt company and they sent someone right away. Great response!

Comfy, quiet and clean with easy parking
We had a nice stay. Location is in between Kailua town and Captain Cook. Convenient by car to both. About a mile and half from Magic Sands beach. Nicely furnished home with a couple of minor maintenance issues. Check in was problematic because the management kept sending me an expired link to the instructions but it only took one telephone call to straighten it out. Keyless lock worked great.

Great Property
We enjoyed the property and are very glad we chose it for our stay. The kitchen is convenient and very well stocked. Hosts were friendly, incredibly helpful and very easy to communicate with. We enjoyed being just outside of the downtown are and thought the property was very conveniently located. We would definitely stay here again.

Peaceful
This house has everything you could need to enjoy your vacation. From coolers with refreeze containers, snorkeling equipment, boogie boards, beach chairs and umbrellas. The house was comfortable and the kitchen fully stocked with all kids of utensils. There is plenty of stuff to do near by or you can hop on the highway and drive about 15 minutes to some spectacular beaches. We definitely enjoyed our stay here. Thank you!

Clean and roomy house for a visit to the west side of Hawaii
Our family of five enjoyed staying in this clean home, which was close to downtown Kailua Kona. It was well appointed for eating in, and we enjoyed eating meals on the patio. There were chairs, boogie boards, snorkel gear, and towels for beach play. The manager was very responsive and came for a tutorial when we did not know how to use the TV remotes.

The kitchen was well stocked and the gas barbecue made cooking steaks easy. We took advantage of the snorkel gear, boogie boards, beach chairs & beach towels provided. The drive from the highway to the gated community was a bit sketchy, but we did not have any incidents. Good luck Gecko appeared in the master bath one morning. Wish we could have stayed longer.

It was a great place to stay.
This was a very comfortable house. Lots of little extra touches--thick, big beach towels and bath towels, tupperware/rubbermaid containers, plenty of paper towels and toilet paper, plenty of laundry soap and dryer sheets, good snorkeling and beach equipment. It was close to beaches and shops, but on a very quiet street. A wonderful place to relax!

Lovely house, very clean, with good decoration and peaceful garden
We had a great stay. Close to beach, parks and Costco, awesome choice for families. The house provides all snorkeling gears and beach gears, which will save you a lot of rental fees. On the way to airport, we thought my husband left his wallet in the house, Angelina and the clean lady offered to go look in the house right away, even we found it in our backpack later. Would love to come back some day.

The house, host and location were all fantastic. Checking in and out were super easy. The house was modern, tidy and perfect for a family. The location was close to the major roads and shops, but still quiet enough for a relaxing vacation. Could not recommend this house enough!

Nice property, safe convenient location.
The house was nice, located in a cute little gates neighborhood. A little hidden at first but then it's easy. Clean, nicely furnished, has everything you need. Comfortable beds and nice towels. I would recommend this place.
