This was our first week long vacation with the while family. 2 adults and 3 kids (5-12). Fantasic experience. Kids loved it, rented the pontoon, fished, swam, kayaked. Would recommend 10 out of 10.

My family and I had a great time at this property. The kids paddle board and kayaked around the island several times a day. We didn’t realize until the last day that just to the left with whites posts was where the park was and the kids could paddle their way to the park with ease. The house had clean linens and the kitchen had just about all we needed aside from food. My daughter left a bracelet she made for Jill by the journals. Thank you Russ!

The unit accommodated all of our family's needs. It had many amenities for the kids. There was a pedal boat, paddle board, multiple kayaks and oars, sand toys, fishing poles and some tackle supplies, and lifejackets for different members of the family. There was an optional pontoon boat rental which we opted for and enjoyed using. The kids found shells along its beach as well as the small island right in front of the property. They got out of the pontoon to play along the shallow water and beach at the island.
We referenced the binder in the unit for the check-out process. It also contained a nicely organized list of local shops/food/activities. We went to Northside Pub for lunch and their pizza was great. We went to The Scoop for ice cream and the kids loved it. We spent one day at the Michigan's Adventure amusement park and it was a good time for the whole family and it was only about a 12 minute drive. Meijer and Walgreens and gas stations are all nearby.
The owner, Russell, was friendly and helpful. He provided very timely responses and clear communication.
My only complaint with the property was that the surfaces were dirty and dusty. I wiped up crumbs on the table/island/countertop. There was dust build up over other surfaces, including fans and headboards. Other than the sand we tracked in, the rest of the surfaces were left cleaner than how we found them. So if there is one thing that could be approved about the unit, it would be the cleaning process.

It was just my husband and I for this trip but it works for kids as well. It's a wonderful little two-bedroom lake house with access to private beach area and boat dock. There are paddle boats and kayaks you can use while staying here. It was a wonderful little getaway.

Back for our second summer at this property and it did not disappoint! The perfect little house in an incredible spot, with just about everything you could need for a fun-filled week of adventures on the lake and in West Michigan!!
Hoping to convince my extended family to stay with this location!!

Had a great time! House was comfortable and cozy. Binder with things to do in the area was provided. Had everything we needed except the food! Loved the island view with the eagle sighting most days and the lily pads! Would definitely come back.

Plenty to do and lots of fish and turtles. Fully loaded kitchen. Plenty of seating inside and out. Also, Russell was great! He and his wife live right next door. Will rent again.

Overall, it was a nice stay. The view and location were excellent. One master bedroom, sleeper sofa, and another room with bunk beds.

This cottage had all of the essentials and the ability to stay distanced and safe for health reasons. That made this cottage ideal. The bonus was how great the owners are and how many fun water toys they provided. They even went above and beyond to keep me from getting sick. I'm allergic to all perfumes so they needed to use unscented soaps on all the linens. They were wonderful and I didn't have any health issues. Beware. If you are like me and insects love you, be sure to bring your bug spray.

Very comfortable, lots to do in the area! Didn't matter that it was colder than we like for lake activities, the fall colors were outstanding and the area is full of fun things to do. Would stay here again.

This spot was a blast. Having 2 small children the beach in front and on the island were perfect to watch them swim and catch fish. The host was great and helped us with anything we needed. Would for sure come back again.

Very clean cabin. Perfect spot on the lake with the island a swimmable distance and a large beach area. The water was warm and our kids loved using the boat. Tons of space inside for extra beds and play areas. Fun attractions nearby like Pete Marquette and Duck Lake Channel. Overall great value.

Our whole week was absolutely fabulous! Russell was very gracious host and his family and neighbors were helpful and friendly. The cottage was clean and cozy & had evrything we needed. The scenery was beautiful and the pontoon boat a blast! We even drove into downtown Fremont and spent an afternoon shopping. I highly recommend this cottage

Great little house for a family of six. Our 4 sons enjoyed kayaking, fishing, tubing, swimming, the playground & hudsonville ice cream across the lake. Great little area for a walk in the evening. House was clean and updated with everything you need. Lots of bedding & blankets. Kitchen was stocked enough for a week away. Check out Hobo tavern for great food & michigans adventure for a fun day of water park & rollercoasters just a 10 minute drive. Fun little house with basically private island.

Our weekend visit was truly amazing, the small-looking cottage surprised us with plenty of room and amenities. The host was very friendly and made our stay very pleasant. The Lake was beautiful, beach/sand area clean and with toys for our son. We look forward to come back.

Loved our visit here! The cabin is right on lake with access to kayaks and pontoon. Since we stayed midweek, we had the lake to ourselves during the day, which was a great opportunity to explore the adjoining lake on kayaks. Weather was perfect. Cabin is very clean, a bit rustic, but very well equipped. Russ and his family went above and beyond being accommodating hosts.

This place was amazing for the price. This was a short vacation where my two adult children were going to be meeting us there along with our 9 and 11 year Olds. Everyone had a bed/ couch to sleep on. The house had pretty much everything you could need. The Hosts were super friendly and put up with our nightly fire with no complaints. My 9 year old barely left the water. She caught so many things. Frogs, fish, snails, crawdaddies. She was in her element every day. My 11 year old loved the kayaks. We rented the pontoon which was great for trolling, icecream trips, and sunset tours. We will definitely stay again.
A few things to just know before you go. The bunk beds have high foot boards so if you are the size of a taller adult you will not fit easily. The couch in the front room works though. It would have been nice to have a pull out in this room as well as the back. The pullout in the back is an older pull out with the metal bar that loves to poke you all night. Might want to bring a foam topper. The main bedroom mattress sinks down in the middle so you get very cuddly at night. It wasn't a big deal just made for some chuckles in the mornings. The lake in front of the house isn't super awesome for swimming but if you pontoon over to the public access the swimming there is great! The area in front of the house is perfect for playing in the water/ finding creatures etc. Exactly what we liked about it.
This home made for a great home away from home!!

The interior is nicely decorated, and the property owner added in a paddle board (replacing one of the paddle boats) following our recommendation. He was very pleasant to talk to; and he was quick to respond when the cable/satellite TV wasn’t working at the onset of our stay.
However, we did not enjoy our stay at this rental as much as previous reviewers. The linens never stayed on the queen bed, as they were extremely cheap and poorly fitted to the bed (this made for uncomfortable sleeping as they would bunch up throughout the night. The swimming area was quite disgusting to walk through, making swimming impossible for the kids. While this property is advertised as having Air Conditioning, potential guests need to be aware that the A/C consists of one small room-sized unit at the front of the house “boosted” by an oscillating fan, as well as another window unit in the master bedroom—both of which were extremely loud, which took away from any chance for a quiet, peaceful getaway. Worse yet was the fact that the front A/C unit would pop the circuit breaker for no apparent reason several times each day. Switching the breaker back on was not an issue; but when it would pop either while we were away mid-day or in the middle of the night, several hours would often go by before we realized the circuit breaker had popped. Our kids couldn’t sleep in the front bedroom for half of our stay due to the excessive heat buildup. Instead, they had to sleep on the living room couches. Overall, this made for a VERY uncomfortable stay. We will not consider this property in the future.

This was our second stay at Twin Lakes with our family. Russ was a great host, as always, helping us out with a lighter for our fire and other questions. We loved the huge, sandy beach and the comfortable home. We rented the pontoon, which was a great choice. We enjoyed cruising the lake (which was overall very quiet), the sandy swim area on the island, and the park across the lake. We recommend kayaking or pontooning across the lake and getting ice cream! We hope to return again!

This is our third year at this property. For our family of three it is a great vacation spot as we love swimming, fishing and boating. Quiet neighborhood and quiet lake. The pontoon is a real plus and always makes our stay! We beach the boat on the front side of the island and have a great time in the sand and water there. House has AC and everything else we need for the week. A comfortable stay to say the least. A short trip to Muskegon, Lewis Adventure Farm/Zoo, and more.

The property was so clean and well taken care of. The owner lives next door and was very friendly and kind, he made himself available but was still very respectful of our privacy. The kids had a blast playing in the sand in front of the cottage and searching for shells and tadpoles on the nearby island. The best swimming was at the public beach on the other side of the lake, a short drive or boat ride. We rented the boat for the week and had a great experience, we would definitely recommend it.

It had everything our family wanted for that perfect summer vacation. The cottage was cute, clean & completely equipped. Shallow waters for smaller children. Very nice pontoon boat. Nice front yard and beach. Older children took kayaks to the island out front. Great family destination.

This rental has it all! Relax by the water, play in the sand, swim, fish, kayak, paddleboat, paddle board, campfire! And, much more not too far away. The home is fully equipped for everything you need. Owners are super nice and responsive to any further needs.

Enjoyed the beautiful cottage on Twin Lakes. Highly recommend renting the pontoon boat during your stay. Kitchen well equipped and there is a gas grill. There is a fire pit and the surrounding stores sell firewood. There is a washer and drier in the cottage also. Would return if given the chance.

Our family of five had a wonderful time at the cottage. The private beach was perfect for our little kids. We all loved taking the kayaks and paddle boat around the lake and exploring the small island nearby. We had great luck with fishing and enjoyed campfires at night. The cottage was clean and nicely updated. The owner was nearby and very responsive. Highly recommend!

We all loved our time here and did not want to go home. We would definitely stay again! Cottage looks small on the outside but very roomy on the inside. Great little beach area and a big plus with the pontoon. Cottage is in a convenient location that makes it easy to take in the local and surrounding area. Owners were very responsive, friendly and made sure our stay was great! We had a hard time packing up and leaving because we enjoyed our stay so much. Recommend and will go back again!!
