About this house rental
The pictures that show the blue sky and ocean don't show the additional living room furniture. The new furniture is shown in the pics we took on a grey day. ;-)
Finding Sandity, located on a semi-oceanfront lot on the 4x4 beach, has better "unobstructed" views than most oceanfront homes in the 4WD area. The 3rd level has a spacious open floor plan with kitchen, dining room, living room, and ships watch. There are plenty of windows in this lovely living area with multiple seating options. The king master bedroom off of the living room has access to the front deck with gorgeous ocean views and panoramic beach views. To the rear of the living area you will find a bonus room with a bunk set for the little ones.
The 2nd level has 3 full bedrooms, king with private bath and deck access, queen with private bath and deck access, a room with a duobunk (double bottom and twin top) and another twin bed, and a 4th bedroom that has been converted to a game room with a pool table and and brand new queen sleeper sofa and deck access. Fantastic views from this level mean sunrises can be viewed without even leaving your bed, but feel free to take the coffee out to the top level and enjoy that beautiful reflection of the sunrise over the ocean.
On the ground level you will find front and rear entry doors, fish cleaning table, outside shower and commode, and a park style grill. The new pool is located in the front next to the ocean!! The front yard has a dune dotted with sea oats that add to the charm of this well located home. Walk to the beach in less than a minute!!!!

My family and I stayed for a week to end our summer before the kids go back to school. The property was well maintained, had everything we needed and communication with the host was wonderful. Everything was exactly as described. The pool was such a great feature because one day the beach was just too hot to be comfortable and have the kids play. There were plenty of games and movies to also keep the kids entertained. We had an overall amazing experience at this property.

My family and I had a wonderful week at Finding Sandity. The house was exactly as advertised. The wild horses roamed freely and we seen them throughout the week. One day they literally came right up to the pool fence grazing. We also got to see sea turtle eggs being buried (the sea turtle volunteers moved the original nest due to the likelihood of survival, and a 5ft shark caught right in front of our house. We would definitely recommend this house and hope to be back soon in the future.

We had another amazing week at Finding Sandity. You absolutely cannot beat the location, views, home and amenities! This year we had wild horses roaming and grazing right outside our door. There is nothing more magical than sipping coffee, watching the sunrise and having five wild horses grazing right in front of your deck! Memories to last a lifetime! Laura was incredible as usual. This is the 4th year we have used Carova Cottages, it was our first year at FINDING SANDITY. The location of the house cant be beat, the Views , wild horses and access to the beach were all A+. The house fell a little short compared to the other carova cottage houses we have experienced in the past. The internet here was terrible, we kept getting kicked off wifi, and often times the TV wouldnt work. Laura stopped by and dropped off her personal modem/hot spot for us to use. That seemed to help a little bit with the wifi issues. The bigger issue was the upstairs AC didnt work, they had 4 window units in the windows, but the temperature upstairs was always over 75 and one night it was 78, made for uncomfortable conditions. We were told the HVAC guy was coming to fix it on Wednesday, he never showed up. The refrigerator didnt have an ice maker which meant we had to run out and get bags of ice multiple times during our stay. Laura did tell us about a ice delivery service we could use. The other negative was that the area in between the pool and the house was all sand, making it impossible to keep sand out of the pool and the house. The house was Fine, the other houses we have stayed at through carova have been better. We will continue to use Carova because of Laura, she always goes above and beyond. If this is the first house you are renting in OBX you will love it, i think we were spoiled from our previous experiences.

First, I would like to Thank Laura at Carova Cottages rentals. She is an amazing and wonderful agent to work with and I would recommend her every time! Unfortunately, I wish I could say the same about the house. The mattresses downstairs are uncomfortable. The King bed downstairs felt like sleeping on a Futon. The bathroom toilets felt like they are recommended for children. Extremely low and if you have back problems not comfortable. The furniture in the living room are the same. Very uncomfortable to get up from and not a recliner anywhere. The kitchen had to be the most disappointing. The silverware was cheap. I purchased nice forks and left them for the next family. Cookie sheets lacking quality. Blender was broken. And I’ve never been in a beach home with no crab hammers or seafood utensils! (If you want to enjoy cooking at home, this is not the home for you. ). The view of the ocean and the swimming pool are the only reason I will give this home a 2 star review. Hopefully in the future, this home will be updated because it could be an amazing gem.

The house was beautiful. We did have trouble locating it as the mile marker for our turn over the dunes was absent. There were horses to enjoy watching every day but one, the upper deck was stellar for spending time sitting out, taking in the views, the walk to the beach over the dunes required energetic walking which was fun. We thoroughly enjoyed this whole experience.

We loved this house! Everything was clean and perfectly as described!
We came in at the tail-end of a stormy 2 weeks, so the roads leading into the house were a little surprising. Once we got over the initial scare of driving over the steep sandy hills, we actually had fun with it!
The only recommendation we had for the house would be to add an additional small fridge somewhere for drinks. We just ended up using a cooler since the fridge was packed with food. Other than that, it was fabulous!

The week we spent at this beautiful home was one of the best vacations we have ever had. We started our mornings sipping coffee on the deck while watching the breathtaking sunrise and listening to the soothing sound of the waves. Dolphins played and fished right out in front of the house throughout the day. The wild horses were absolutely amazing grazing on the grasses behind the house and roaming by us as we enjoyed the beach. The interior was nicely furnished with all of the amenities we could have wanted. Extremely comfortable, clean and again that breathtaking view! I just can’t say enough! We hope to return for many years to come.

Rented the week in October to celebrate our ten year anniversary with our family. It was a nice location, not too far down the beach, but down enough to see horses every day off the beautiful deck! We had 2 other families with ours and this house has the perfect layout. The house was super clean when we arrived. The owners have been doing upgrades as the 360 tour showed the old deck. The top deck when we stayed was just replaced with composite deck boards so I imagnine the second level deck will be replaced soon. The views are nothing short of amazing and we saw the wild horses every day we were there. They were right on the dunes right next to the pool one late afternoon. We loved this place so much we plan to stay again next year. If you bring all the groceries you need for the week, you truly have no need to even leave at all.

If you want to enjoy the experience of driving a few miles on beachfront and having wild horses come by randomly as local friends, this is the place for you! The house is spacious and in good condition. The onsite swimming pool and hot tub are also in good condition and provide a respite from the sand and ocean while providing water activity just outside the door. When taking the chance the weather will be favorable, it is good to know the house provides amenities for rainy days that may occur. All in all, we found Finding Sandity a good choice!

This house is amazing, and we saw horses almost daily! The location is great and offers all the amenities of home. I rented the house for the views, but the windows are so dirty ( especially to the north) we couldn’t enjoy the views to their fullest potential!

Great location for beach, and great views from the house. Saw the wild horses almost every day. Inside pictures very accurate. House was clean and in good shape. Pool was a great addition. Only negative was there were a good amount of bugs(midges) and spiders on the outside and exterior of house could use some attention.
