Nice hotel, great central location, but noisy

Great facilities, great location, some staff were friendly and helpful, we enjoyed the food in the restaurant. The family room is nice, and there is also free childcare on site that does not need pre-booking. The pool area is also great! I really wanted to love this hotel, but being unable to sleep at night and the general lack of soundproofing in rooms and doors made it impossible to rest and sleep.

It is noisy at night! Very noisy. We were located above a pub, so it was impossible to sleep from the noise, especially from heavy chairs and shelves or trollies being dragged on the floor below our room.. We finally asked to be moved after 4 sleepless nights. We got lucky, and they had 1 room available, but it was a much smaller room and not a family room and had no kitchenette. At least we managed to get some sleep there, although it was still very noisy up until about 11pm-midnight with people speaking loudly and kids running and yelling in the corridor. The whole hotel is not very well soundproofed and the banging of doors and people talking and laughing in the corridor is very loud in the room.

Family holiday

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Das Kaltschmid. The food was amazing and we loved the kids options for dinner as well as the included all inclusive lunch for our daughter. The swimming pool was a great bonus and the kids play area a life saver.

Our room was very warm and every night we could hear the music playing from the pub downstairs.

All in all a great stay if you do not use the facilities too much during the day.

Breakfast was very tasty. The room was nice. We were 4 people (2 grown ups and 2 kids) in a Double Deluxe room. Since we only used the room for changing and sleeping, it was really enough for 4 people. What was great is that our room was on the same floor as the swimming pool, so we had a very short distance to the pool, which of course one appreciates when going there with kids. The kids playroom was quite small, but enough for our little ones since we did not use it much as we spent most of the day outside. The kids club was also small, but our kid seemed to like it very much as she was always asking to go there. The location of the hotel is also great. A grocery shop is right next to it and everything is within walking distance. The bar and the sitting areas are really nice and cozy.

The matrasses on the bed were very soft. Better quality matrasses would have been great. The bathroom in the room was very small, there was barely enough space for one person. But we managed once to bathe the kids at the same time there. But not very comfortable. There were also no hooks in the bathroom for the bathrobes. Also is a pity that they made you purchase the house slippers if you wanted any. In general the kids facilities like the playroom could be bigger in size. But since we spent most of the day outside, it was ok. The pool itself is big enough for the kids, however, if it gets crowded, there is not enough places to put the things down or to sit down to watch the children. That was a bit awkward. One should only use the pool after everyone left for dinner in the evening to have a bit of space to sit down.

Definitely will return - fabulous location; relaxing wellness sauna

Traditional hotel with good facilities and friendly staff. Breakfast was perfect lots of choice! Room was warm & clean.

Nothing of note… A safe luggage area on departure day with lockable space for security would be helpful?

Fabulous Christmas treat with everything we could wish for all taken care of for us

Food choices and presentation was amazing. We’ve stayed here before and are always really happy with the service, choice and cleanliness of the hotel. The staff are so helpful, polite and more than happy to oblige with any extra requests.

Nothing could have been better. We loved it here on both occasions. The location is very central with a fabulous Christmassy atmosphere just outside in the pedestrian zone and restaurants and Gluhwein bar’s amazing value.

Enjoyable weekend getaway

Booked a family room, had enough space, big balcony with nice view of the nearby park and town center. Staff very friendly, very good breakfast selections.

Beds are on the soft side. Free internet is far too slow, not really useful.

Superb

The spa area and pool is unreal.Pool was warm and cozy. The beds super comfy and hotel is spotless. The area itself is expensive for dinning out.avail of half board.

The bar area had no atmosphere.no music or people there.its too open and needs tlc big time.Its like its stuck in the 90's.I know its charming but you would'nt drink there.

Superb hotel

Kaltschmid have years of experience in providing high quality accommodation and cuisine and are very efficiently and professionally run. This was our first stay in this particular hotel, although we have stayed 4 times previously in another Kaltschmid hotel in Seefeld so had high expectations which were met completely. Our stay was top rate and extremely enjoyable It's always nice to be looked after by a team of professional, courteous and happy staff.

Good

Very nice staff, generally decent service and good variety of breakfast and dinner choices.

The position of the hotel is good in other hand as it is placed in the centre of Sheffield. But in other, which was unexpected it was the reason for sleepless nights. Sheffield is not anymore what it was 10 years ago - a quiet place for nature livers coming in summer to enjoy hiking.

Superb

Everything about the hotel was great. It says it a family hotel but I was well enjoying it as a solo-traveller.

There's a restaurant owned by the hotel nearby with the same name. The service there was absolutely horrible, you could just sit there for literally 20 mins until someone turns up to take your order. On my last evening I was sitting at the bar counter (!) for 15 mins straight asking for a cocktail that were being made literally in front of my eyes. Gave up and left after a few unsuccessful attempts.

A lot to offer but not well looked after

The location is in the centre of Seefeld and therefore very close to restaurants and bars. The hotel itself is huge and offers a lot like its own restaurant and bar, a kids area and even a swimming pool with a nice small outdoor jacuzzi overlooking the mountains. The breakfast buffet had a lot to choose from such as different types of egg, ham, cheese, yoghurts, croissants and other pastries and much more.

The interior is very old and therefore not in the best state. There is old red carpet everywhere - even in the hotel rooms. Our room was really small and we could barely fit our suitcases with skiing equipment in. There we stains on the red carpet as well as on the sheets. Walking through the hallways there was some very distinctive smell which made us feel uncomfortable. The restaurant offered some local live music which might be fun for elderly people only. Overall the hotel might offer a lot for families and seniors however a few months later we are still thinking of how desperately the house needs renovation. We were looking for a house with history and tradition but unfortunately we were so disappointed with how badly the hotel is been looked after.. :( For the price per night we felt totally ripped off!

Great stay, very relaxing, family-oriented. Food great, price could be a bit cheaper.

Food is excellent. We booked breakfast + dinner. The dinner was 3-course menu, including vegetarian options. The dinner was worth the price. Also, the pool and sauna facilities are excellent. Clean, welcoming. Many play options for children, including table tennis, snookers, kids room, etc. Kids are provided free lunch and a cake in the evening, which is very thoughtful. Many natural scenic attractions are near the hotel. The hotel is a 30 minute drive from Innsbruck. Train station is 3 minutes away. Parking works.

The pool opens at 8 am, but closes at 8 pm. Also, dinner closes at 8:30 pm. It would have been better, if the pool were to remain open until 10 pm. Since sauna/steam only opens at 3 pm, the only option to enjoy the pool is to return to the hotel by 5 pm, so as to enjoy the pool and then dinner. Better would have been a longer opening time for pool.
