Staff were so lovely and helpful. The pool was beautiful. Morning yoga was great
I really wouldn't recommend going here if you don't have a car. Cost me $35 each time to get to Fortuna and really difficult to get a cab at that.
Also, most shuttles won't pick you up from the hotel as it's too far away.
The bunk house rooms were overpriced, they are tiny. It could have been the weather but the place was damp and really hard to dry clothes, I left feeling a bit ill.

The philosophy of the ranch is self-sufficiency and it can be seen in each of their activities. To witness this reality was unique and inspiring.
It's a farm and not a hotel, tho the prices for the stay feels like a four star hotel and a bit overpriced. With high prices comes high expectations, which inherently a farm cannot deliver.

Rancho Margot is more than a hotel, it's a community and an sustainable project. For us it was truly an inspiring experience as we could witness first-hand the challenges and rewards that living off-the-grid entail. Rancho Margot's team has accomplished plenty like regenerating a portion of the forest and they invite you to learn about their sustainability practices through their tours and experiences. You can also just enjoy nature, take a hike or swim on their natural pools. It's secluded for a good reason, and we didn't have any reason to leave. We stayed 3 nights but would love to come back!

Property was truly unique. You live right on the farm.
We loved everything. If one thing could improve, the pool area could be brighter or more inviting.

The bungalow was pretty in a scenic setting. Friendly receptionist.
Was very overpriced. I booked 4 nights not realising how remote it was or that there would be no phone signal. I wanted to leave one night earlier but they wouldn’t refund me which was $175 for one night to stay in quite a standard room. Was upsetting as a lone traveller that booked last minute that there was no room to amend just one day. If you are travelling alone I do not recommend as it is also very expensive to get there and then you are stuck.

The area has beautiful surroundings and is secluded making it nice and quiet. The property is large with walking trails and a near by creek.
There were no bug nets around the beds like in the picture and many bugs each night. There was also no fridge in the room which was needed in my opinion. The sink and toilet were plugged / very slow draining. The food was buffet style and wasn't very good with very repetitive selection. It didn't seem like most of it came from the property as described. There were many flies and no covers on some of the cold options like salads and fruit. No waiting services offered as it was serve yourself only style. The beds were very hard and uncomfortable. The pool area was dark and a bit dingy.
Beyond these annoyances the property was beautiful and the yoga was nice, but for the price I paid I would not go back.

Hearty breakfast, typical Tico food of rice and beans, scrambled or fried eggs, lovely fresh fruits, homemade yogurt, pancakes (which were a bit tough) sometimes oatmeal made with almond milk, medicinal tea, homemade granola mix. And of course Coffee which was surprisingly weak than most other places.
FREE yoga classes twice a day. Those are given by volunteer yoga instructors. Yoga courses outside under a roof, by a rushing river... Heavenly!
The 2 hour tour of the farm grounds was so interesting. We get to see first hand, how El Rancho Margot helps to keep the Natural in nature.
EVERYWHERE, the staff is super friendly AND helpful.
Large bungalows with wrap around deck and a hammock for lazy afternoon reading or napping.
Weak coffee.
While offering gluten free and vegan options, which is excellent, the options were not flavourful and were mostly "tough".
A deft hand in the kitchen would help that situation.
The kitchen needs help to round the meals. While Costa Rican cuisine is not refined, and they make no apology for it, the cooks need help in cooking meats to render them more tender... My only complaint.

Our stay was exceptional. The staff are friendly and attentive. Rancho Margot is a very special place with lots of activities for all ages. The entire ranch is sustained on renewable energy and all of the agricultural products are organic.

Rancho Margot was an absolute Dream! I could have moved in and stayed forever, Everyone was so kind, so helpful. The expansive grounds and farm and streams and falls, and horse stables and compound was just incredible. So well though out and so visionary. I just couldn't get over it all. My children, age 6 and 6 played for hours and were so happy everywhere. Our night hikes brought so much education and excitement on beautiful frogs, snakes and lizard, moths, animals, glowing stars, and glowing logs. it was all so incredible.
I loved all. Amazing place. If a person didn't like nature I wouldn't recommend. One tiny thing, we are vegetarian because we love animals and so would have delighted in a pure vegetarian place.

It was neat to see the self-sustainability of the property, from the hydro power for electricity to making compost for the food gardens. The owners and staff had a passion for the mission of Rancho Margot that was evident in all that they did. The location was beautiful and peaceful, there was an incredible amount of wildlife around all of the time.
The Superior Bungalow was very small for the price paid, the mattress was very firm.

It was a great stay. We learned a lot and exceeded our expectations. My only issue was the bungalow was way too small. and had a dangerous step down to the bathroom. I ended up breaking my toe when I went to the bathroom in the middle of the night. the ranch tour was superb and Juan and Liz took the time to spend some time with us sharing their story which was greatly appreciated. Looking forward to a return trip in a bigger bungalow :-)

The food is great and the property was very nice and a pleasure for our two year old daughter.
Bungalows are a bit small the Superior Category.
The pool was as bit cold to be used with a child.
