Ponce City Market. Housed in the former Sears, Roebuck & Company building, this mixed-use development is poised to become the city's next hot spot for eating, shopping, working, and living. Modeled after Chelsea Market in New York City, Ponce City Market has already lined up top-shelf retail and restaurants to fill the massive space. 2. The Atlanta Streetcar. Atlanta's public transportation system isn't up to par with most major metropolises in America, but the Atlanta Streetcar is a good start toward getting it there. It's also rekindling a link with the city's past, when electric streetcars connected the community. The first phase of the project will link the MLK National Historic Site with Centennial Olympic Park, where further transfers can be made at the MARTA rail and bus lines. 3. The BeltLine. It started with a Georgia Tech graduate student's proposal to transform outmoded railroad tracks line into a walking and cycling path through Atlanta. Now, the BeltLine is becoming a reality. The most commonly used section is the Eastside Trail between Piedmont Park and Irwin Street, which goes past Ponce City Market. This area is home to frequent art installations, as well as restaurants with open-air seating. 4. Epic Southern Brunch. Sunday brunch is one of the things at which the South excels, and no neighborhood does it better than the Old Fourth Ward. Head to Parish or Two Urban Licks, where you can stuff your face with eggs Benedict while watching the drama unfold on the BeltLine below. Highland Bakery is the ultimate in decadence, with French toast as big as your head, while diner-chic Home Grown, on the border of Reynoldstown, serves up the best biscuits in town. 5. Edgewood Avenue Nightlife. Atlanta's young and hip used to make a beeline for Buckhead to wet their whistles, but Edgewood Avenue is fast becoming the place to find affordable dive bars with authentic ATL edge. Perhaps the best example is Sister Louisa's Church of the Living Room and Ping Pong Emporium (shortened to Church), where guests can people-watch or play table tennis while wearing choir robes. Mother is another popular bar, as is Joystick, where you can play your favorite childhood arcade games while sipping craft beers. 6. Jackson Street Bridge. Fans of The Walking Dead will immediately recognize the stretch over Freedom Parkway from the opening sequence of the show when Rick Grimes enters the abandoned city on horseback. The unassuming Jackson Street Bridge is frequently used as a backdrop for amateur photo shoots for fans and those looking for the best view of the skyline at all hours. 7. Street Art. Graffiti used to be an urban scourge; now it's being embraced as a means of transforming otherwise drab brick buildings into works of art. This is especially true in the Old Fourth Ward, with the annual Living Walls, the City Speaks conference bringing in artists from all over the U.S. to beautify streets like Edgewood Avenue, Carroll Street, and Krog Street Tunnel. 8. Local Markets. Sweet Auburn Curb Market, established in the aftermath of the Great Atlanta Fire of 1917, is where generations of locals have gone to purchase fresh food. Dozens of restaurant stalls--notably Bell Street Burritos, Arepa Mia, and Grindhouse Killer Burgers--have also opened up. The Freedom Farmers Market takes a more traditional approach, setting up Saturdays in the parking lot of the Jimmy Carter Library and Museum (one of Georgia's native sons). Pick up produce and meats from local farmers, as well as baked goods, fresh pasta, and ready-to-eat fare. 9. History: Poncey-Highland is one of Atlanta's oldest areas. That's why developers are taking pains to preserve that heritage while giving historical--but dilapidated--buildings new identities in the modern age. Ponce City Market is a prime example of this, as is the Masquerade, a popular indoor-outdoor music venue that occupies the old Dupre Excelsior Mill complex. Get a taste of what the neighborhood looked like before gentrification began in full force by touring the Sweet Auburn Historic District. 10. LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!!!!!!!

This was perfect for our needs during our visit to Atlanta to tour colleges. The home was clean, comfortable, and conveniently located to Emory and Georgia tech campuses. There was convenient parking around the back of the home, we felt safe, the home was spacious, private, and the host was quick to answer all our questions.
Please note that there is a steep stairwell at the entrance, so if you have physical restrictions or have a little toddler, this home may not suit your needs. We would stay here again if we return to Atlanta.

Met up with some old friends for a night on the town and this place was perfect. The owner was responsive and accommodating and the place was comfortable and clean and within easy walking distance to the heart of Virginia Highlands. We had a great time!

We enjoyed our stay in Atlanta in this top floor apartment in a two family house. The house was clean and comfortable, the location was very central and parking was easy. We had plenty of room for our family of five to spread out and let our kids have some space. Zach was easy to work with. Even though we had a small communication glitch when it came time to check in, Zach resolved the issue quickly and I would recommend this apartment.

A fabulous place for our weekend away! There was plenty of room and seating and the decorating was fun but not overdone or fussy. A charming old house with character and yet every amenity you could need. The master bed is incredibly comfy, the bathrooms were extremely clean with plenty of towels and soap/shampoo (thanks!!), the kitchen was well-appointed and the pantry was great for holding any extras we brought. The porch looked like a lovely spot to be, if it wasn't below freezing during our stay! We were within a 1/2 mile of Ponce City Market and could walk there easily. One person in our party took a morning run and found the beltway - delightful place to run/walk! Everything is so close by, yet the neighborhood is cozy and not loud or crowded. Street parking did make for a challenge to find a place to park, but there was always a space somewhere. Zach was extremely timely in his responses and very accommodating to our requests. We'd stay there again in a heartbeat - like coming home! Wonderful place, thank you for letting us stay!

Three ladies attending the gift show at AmericasMart. Really liked the location being walking distance to Publix, several restaurants and Ponce City Market. The home is a duplex with this part being the upstairs. King bed is super comfy, well equipped kitchen. Zach was great to work with. We hope to stay again next January.

Charming Duplex Apt with beautiful old wood woodwork and cabinets in a great location on the edge of Virginia Highlands and Poncey Highlands. It is near the Freedom parkway which makes it very easy to get to from the expressway and is only two block walk to the Publix grocery if needed. There is easy parking. The unit was very comfortable and nicely decorated. The owner was very attentive to any and all requests and showed up even on a holiday to help.

My family of 5 plus our dog had a great stay. The beds and linens were very comfortable, couch was a relaxing spot in the evenings, and the large table was great for eating. My husband walked to get coffee each morning, I walked up to Publix for a few items, and we all brought the dog to the great park and playground just a block away. Excellent stay!

The house has 3 bedrooms but if for 3 couples to access one of the bedrooms you have to go through the master. For us it wok out great since our daughter stayed in that bedroom. We would rent it again

The property was clean, well appointed and had plenty of space for my whole family. The furniture was comfortable, and the location has easy parking. The showers are not great, as far as pressure/volume goes, but they were passable.
The neighbors happened to be having a very loud house party, but I can't blame the property for that. It just goes with the territory.
The owner Zach was responsive and helpful.
I would stay here again if I was in the area.

When I come back to Atlanta and need a place to stay this will be my first choice!
The host was a great communicator, and could always be trusted to respond quickly and clearly. The location is a dream for anyone looking to spend time in Atlanta's Old Fourth Ward. The location also serves as a great home base in relation to some of the best places to hang out in Atlanta. The residence itself is well decorated and a really cool place to hang out.

Read above. I summarized in header. Great place.
