We liked it a lot but the temperature in the hot tub dropped
And we could only use it once.

Beautiful tucked away. Oh so cool at night. Awaken to bird songs, enchanting view out of each window. Hot tub surrounded by a forest of ferns and flowers.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this secluded cabin! Sitting on the deck and enjoying the beauty of the forest/jungle and the beautifully landscaped area around the cabin was very pleasant! The hosts were friendly and communication was great! The cabin was well supplied! All in all it was a great experience!

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the cabin. We arrived late but we found our way easily with directions from the hosts. The place is magical, with ferns overhead, frog song and lush foliage and flowers surrounding us. There’s a lovely rustic feel to the cabin and we had everything we needed. The hosts were so kind, helpful and responsive. We were very comfortable in the cabin, out on the deck and the hot tub!
We loved that we were removed from Kona by only a short drive but that it felt like a whole different peaceful escape. We enjoy finding special places off the beaten path and out of the condo world and this place satisfied—we hated to leave. We would have easily been happy doubling our time there.

We rented this cabin for a week, it was perfect! Everything was what we were hopping for, you are in your own private little rain Forrest and it is very relaxing. The hot tub was very clean and we were easily able to fit the three of us in there. Not too far of a drive from town or the beach so it gives you all options while costing, along with privacy for when you return back. Nothing but praise for this rental!

Our only complaint is that we couldn't stay longer! Our daughter loved the chickens greeting us every morning and the sheep walking up the driveway. We loved getting away from the hustle and bustle of tourists and traffic to our secluded cabin in the woods.

Enjoyed staying up Koloko in this little cabin in the woods. Privacy was nice and the hot tub was relaxing. It is a small cabin but has all of the amenities most people would need. I enjoyed the daily visits and songs from the chickens! Caroline and Tom are sweet and helpful hosts! Thanks for a unique stay!

Absolutely perfect rental. We all loved everything about the place - ideal location (very close to downtown Kona but in a quiet neighborhood), view of the ocean from the front, extremely clean and well decorated, with lots of special touches that made us feel at home. Excellent communications with the property manager as well.

What a fun find! We spent part of our time on the BI here, and part in the busier “touristy” part of the island near the shore. It was fun experiencing both. It was nice and cool here, and we loved hearing the coqui frogs at night. We definitely recommend.

Enjoyed the hot tub, secluded setting and cool climate up the mountain.

It is a cabin
This was a very cute cabin, not a house. The walls are thin. You need to turn on hot water about 10 minutes before use. That being said, we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. It was nice to be away from town, secluded in such a pretty place, while still being only a few minutes away from everything. The hosts were great. We were welcomed with a nice note, fresh cut flowers, and after a bit, a greeting from Scott. Very nice place :)

Amazing home base for Big Island explorations!
Our stay at Caroline and Scott’s cabin in the cloud forest was even better than we hoped. It was so wonderful to come back up the mountain every afternoon after a morning of sightseeing or snorkeling to settle down and relax on the lanai, work on dinner (my awesome partner really enjoys cooking), and take a dip in the hot tub surrounded by the most amazing flora and fauna. The frequent afternoon rain showers were a bonus for this rain lover. The chickens WILL visit you…lol. The red girls came to check us out almost immediately. We loved them and shared bits of food with them…thus they came by regularly! Caroline and Scott are extremely thoughtful and generous hosts, and we were so appreciative of their hospitality. Very, very happy with our choice of home base during our Big Island adventure.

Cool time in the Cloud Forest
When you arrive and see a closed gate, someone just has to jump out and open, then close the gate - it is held by a rope. Instructions are on the gate. Stay to the left after the gate, pass the house on the left and continue up to the cabin.
This unit is in the cloud forest, so it's chilly at night and mornings. The bed is comfy and warm, but bring a good jacket and socks for waking hours. Then, just 10 min. downhill to the coast it's warmer and sunny. Among the farmyard animal array that mostly stay near the primary residence down the hill, it is the roosters that will show up in the morning. If you don't feed them, they will eventually leave, but watch out for the slick spots they leave on the deck. The shower pressure was exceptional for a cottage. In the corner by the Bose you will find beach chairs, an umbrella and coolers. The host were very responsive and helpful. Highly recommend.

My wife and I absolutely loved Scott and Caroline's place. It's a wonderful place and we'll be back as soon as we can.

Aloha!
Super convenient for our airport night time arrival and then getting into Kona or day trips in all directions.
Even better was the tree frog chorus greeting our arrival and the bird song mornings. Hot tub soaks capped each day with a glow. Couldn’t think of a better way to start our Hawaiian adventure!

Incredibly warm and wonderful hosts!
The cabin is so special! Early morning hot tub listening to the cloud forest bird songs was our favorite. This place is lush, rustic and quirky and such a beautiful respite away from the touristy hotel area. But the best thing about it was the delightful and flexible hosts! Scott and Caroline were so kind, easy going and helpful. We hope to come back for a longer stay in the future!

perfectly private
The cabin is located in the highlands and is away from the tourist filled resorts which is what we wanted. It is a short drive to the beaches but Scott and Caroline our hosts gave us the location of beaches less crowed where the local folks go to avoid the tourist beaches. The cabin well furnished gave us the opportunity to cook all are meals and prep lunches for outings instead of purchasing meals out which is costly on a three week island hopping tour. The cabin is in the rain forest and the plants and flowers are beautiful, the birds and frogs are all you here in the evening. No people slamming doors or keeping you up all night partying on their patio next door. Ideal spot and hosts, Scott and Carolina are great making sure your stay is welcoming and enjoyable. Very knowledgeable on the big Island and any questions we had on outings, restaurants or beaches. Loved them, for making us feel like family with a great stay.
Look forward to returning in the future.

We really enjoyed our stay. The cabin is rustic and feels very private even though the main home is not too far away. The evenings are cool and comfortable. Our hosts were very friendly and welcoming.

This is a great little cabin in a very special part of Kona.
Pretty much the perfect location! Out of the hustle and bustle. Quiet and cozy in the Big Island rain forest. The hustle and bustle is less than ten minutes away though! Simple, peaceful, and intimate. We loved it! Will be back.

Lush Tropical Cabin Retreat
Caroline and Scott were gracious hosts. We enjoyed their beautiful property with their chickens and sheep. The foliage all around reminded us of Kauai, the garden isle. We loved sleeping with the windows open so we could fall asleep to the sounds of the rain, insects, frogs and birds. The hot tub was amazing. We sat in it twice a day, morning and night. It was so relaxing sitting in it with the lush giant plants around to look at. Their boogie boards, beach umbrella, washer and dryer came in really handy! Thank you Caroline and Scott!

What a stunning and well-thought-out cabin in a rainforest wonderland. Our every expectation was exceeded. Our needs were not only met, but surpassed and we loved the cozy cabin feel in this tropical oasis. We will be back.

House in the "jungle"
Great house in a great location. Up in the hills away from the heat of the coast. You are almost all alone, can't see any other houses. Well equipped kitchen. I highly recommend this house. The hosts are wonderful.

Lovely stay!
We loved our stay. Such a relaxing place..quiet and surrounded by green. A highlight was the daily visit from the chickens..they would say a brief hello and then wander back to the main house.

Rustic cabin get-away
We enjoyed our stay, but unfortunately had many business issues and such to attend to. This was a great rustic experience among the many Kona options. We would do it again. It is for the adventurous type and we liked it. It is ideal for those who wish to get away, as phone and internet services were sketchy.

Little cabin paradise
First - wonderful hosts!! So friendly and helpful - Their recommendations made our first Hawaii trip amazing.
Property = secluded enough to feel totally isolated and private but still only 15 min from downtown Kona. Cabin is outdated but has absolutely everything you need and a private hot tub! If you’re looking for modern, this isn’t your place but if you’re looking for quiet, cozy, relaxing, & comfortable - this place is perfect. Read a book by the fireplace. Listen to the rain on the tin roof. Drift to sleep to only the sound of the frogs.

Peace in the Forrest
What fun! If you like nature and quiet forest walks this is the place for you. I enjoyed the cooler climate of the cloud forest but with an easy drive to all the beaches of the coast. I am missing my visits from the chickens in the morning and my hot tub under the stars, serenaded by a chorus of cocci frogs.
Ah wish I were there!

Great place!
We really enjoyed our time here, my in-laws stayed in the cabin while we were in the cottage. Both were perfect for our needs. Our kids loved the chickens that would greet us in the morning. It was so convenient having a washer and dryer. Loved the hot tub! Lots of condiments etc from prior guests made it really nice too, since we’d always forget something at the grocery store. Can’t wait to go back 😊

Quiet Mountain Treehouse Getaway
Leaving the last 5 days of our 2 week Maui vacation for a relaxing Kona, Big Island mountain rainforest hideaway, was the perfect ending to an action-packed trip. Being 10 minutes to the coast and shops, including a Costco made our remote getaway easy to enjoy. We made use of the private jacuzzi area, and the outdoor patio with barbeque and outdoor table. We thoroughly enjoyed the hens roaming around and visiting. The cabin was a perfect size for us both to relax. We enjoyed using the mezzanine level beds for reading in the mornings and enjoyed using the kitchen to cook in evenings. We accepted Caroline's suggestion of taking a short walk outside the property to a 3-mile hike up the street, as well as a Mountain View Coffee House visit with free tours on the hour. We were able to see and handle the friendly Jackson Cameleons sitting on the ginger orchids right outside the cabin. Upon arrival it was a special surprise to have a bowl of free-range eggs in the refrigerator for our bodies to enjoy. Caroline went out of her way to ensure we were completely comfortable, pointing out the fans, humidifier and electric blanket if our temperature needed adjusting. More importantly Scott and Caroline embodied the Hawaiian spirit of family and we were welcomed with open arms and hearts, even ensuring I frequently had a flower behind my ear. Take me back to the Carson Treehouse, I'm in love. Recommend it to anyone.

A beautiful escape with all you need
This was the perfect place for our small family’s vacation. They had everything we needed and some things we didn’t know we needed.
It was wonderful to be able to escape the heat since being up on the mountain meant cooler weather. The bed was comfortable. The surroundings were beautiful and every morning we were greeted by some silly and friendly chickens.
Thank you so much for having us!
