A welcome break cycling the coast to coast. A comfortable room above a nice pub. Excellent breakfast

A well priced, comfortable room. The rooms are above a pub, but you cannot hear the noise from downstairs. I arrived by bike, and the staff were happy to provide a secure storage spot for me to leave my bike overnight. The breakfast was great, a 10/10 in my book.

Nothing to improve at this price point.

Staff were pleasant.Royal Oak was but needed a bit of TLC especially in bedrooms

Food was good but service was extremely slow. We didn’t like the glass cups ! Pot of coffee would have been more welcome!

Furniture in bedroom needs an upgrade. Hose in the shower leaked. Breakfast was OK but very slow.

Overall a good experience.

Dinner, though not included in the room price, was excellent quality with good service. And breakfast, which was included, was plentiful and also delicious.

My room was a long way up four flights of stairs.

Great location and the pub is brilliant, comfy bed

The bathroom in room 2 is covered in mould above the shower, the room obviously doesnt air very well as per their posters but there is a large amount of mould on the ceiling

Very enjoyable stay - we would definitely go back.

Superb place to stay. Very friendly staff, lovely room, very comfortable bed & the biggest breakfast we've ever seen! Parking is a bit away from the hotel but it is fine in a locked area so is secure. Food in the restaurant was also great.

Would recommend.. loved our room, super comfy sleep, lovely breakfast (even if it took a while!)

Great location. Cosy pub, cosy room. super comfortable bed. Lovely staff.

Just 3 comments. Access to the rooms was absolutely freezing but this may have been due to fire escape door being open for staff access? Breakfast took 45 minutes… rather a long wait. There was a slight smell of drains in the bathroom.

Always a nice pub with atmosphere & good choice of beverages. Great location as central

The room we had this time was pretty cold (it was very cold outside) and the building is old so understandable. Bathroom had no heating so getting a shower was a no no. Keep the door shut to maintain heat in the room.
