Quiet, relaxing, tropical setting that is very nicely put together & well appointed. Pier was a nice touch, welcoming & very inviting. Food was amazing
Bugs! Swimming area had lots of seaweed. A bit pricy but worth it.
4.7
Proximity to reefs and privacy, away from the touristy area. We also loved the staff.
4.7
The property is very clean!!!!
I loved everything about the property and staff

This place was phenomenal. As soon as you walked in, it felt like you entered the jungle (filled with tropical plants, mango trees) via a sandy path that led you to the water. The esthetic of the entire place was green and serene. Sandy Bay is a bit more quiet than West End/ West Bay. At night time, you can walk to the dock and point out constellations clearly. The sunset is breathtaking. There are kayaks also provided by the hotel which you can use to explore the reefs nearby via snorkeling. Snorkeling gear can also be rented. The staff were so warm, bright and empathetic in their communication. Their food was a delicious as well. Our first day I had the grilled fish and it was superb. I was obsessed with the giant monstera plants in the lobby/ dining area and the many hummingbirds that stopped by for their morning nectar in the flowering plants. One logistical consideration---if you wish to explore other parts of the island during your stay, rent a car and explore as this is not walking distance from WE/WB. If you have a shorter stay, the staff have a shortlist of taxi drivers who work with the hotel to drive you around. We plan to return again as it fit perfectly with our idea of a vacation :)

This is a magical place. Beautiful flowers and beach. It is a quieter place to stay and not a very large resort so it felt very casual and friendly. We chatted with other guests but also had our space. We stayed in one of the bungalows, which we liked a lot. We didn't see in the garden cabins, but the bungalows are closer to the beach, and I'd choose that again. It's a little odd to not have a bathroom door, again something we knew. We were two good friends travelling so we would just tell each other when we needed alone time in the cottage to alleviate some embarrassment.
Loved that there were free kayaks and paddle boards to use. There's a long pier and hammocks on the end that were never busy - great spot to read, hang out, look at the stars, peer into the water at night to see the "fire flies" in the water -- some kind of glowing plankton that was super cool. The best part is the location on the reef. We were there to snorkel and just couldn't have been easier to go right off the dock, over and over again. We also did a 4 hour snorkel excursion and that was awesome. Both for the beautiful spots but also the boat ride and care and attention we were given. Fresh fruit after being in the salt water is so wonderful! Talia and staff were helpful and professional and friendly and never intrusive.
Rose is the chef and people should come from all around the island to eat dinner here - it was so very good.
We visited West Bay and West End and were glad to not be staying at either. The beach has lots of people selling things and was crowded at West Bay. West End is a great spot to go to eat, but was glad to retreat to Puerta Azul.
There's no pool, but we knew that and didn't care. But if that matters to you...

This place is a gem. Far enough from the tourist crowds to feel peaceful and yet close to everything. Talia, Augusta, and Judy Anne make you feel pampered and most welcome. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and hope to return soon! A snorkeling paradise.
Not much. A door on the bathroom would’ve been appreciated, but the room was beautiful and stylishly simple and comfortable.

Puerta Azul, it's a lovely place to stay in Roatan! I would not want to stay anywhere else. Our cottage/house was perfect, clean, stylish, and beautiful! The main house and the rest of the cottages were surrounded by unique plants and palm trees that gave plenty of privacy. The windows have screens, so bugs and mosquitoes were never a problem. Mosquitoes weren't a huge issue anyway. Some sand flies, but that is common across the whole Island.
We were greeted with delicious coffee and an even more delightful breakfast every morning! I didn't know you could serve eggs in so many ways! The ingredients were fresh and of fantastic quality.
The beach was located a few steps away from our house, with fantastic access to the reef. Reef, including Spooky Channel, is worth swimming too! We could see beautiful tropical fish. Once, we saw an eagle ray off the dock. There are hammocks at the end of the extended deck that we enjoyed a lot as well. Additionally, you can grab a kayak and explore the shoreline. Antony Key's is a few paddles away, from where you can see the dolphins kept in captivity.
Since we wanted to visit many other places on the Island, we rented a car and were glad about it. I highly recommend doing it, because it allows you to explore more local foods and scenery. However, whenever we came back from West End, West Bay or other places, we were grateful for the peaceful and quiet Puerta Azul place.
To sum up, I recommend staying at Puerta Azul. Talia, Augusta and the rest of the wonderful crew will do everything to make your stay unforgettable. Thank you for all your support!
Some renovations were going on during the day beside our beach, which was a bit loud. However, that is a temporary thing; and it was no one's fault.

the huts are really nice with hammocks and chairs. the staff was very accommodating when we couldn’t there on the first day because the ferries weren’t running.
the food was great!
there was no door to the restroom in one cabin. that was awkward.
4.7
Beautifully landscaped and swim out access to a nice part of the reef. Staff was very helpful and friendly.
Nothing with the property, a little bit of construction surrounding that couldn’t be haloed and wasn’t constant.
4.7
Wonderful staff and hosts, great food, beautiful reef in easy swimming distance from the excellent dock.
A few sand flies

That blue door just compelled me to book Puerta Azul & it was even better than I could have imagined. The location, the team, the food, that dock, those hammocks!..we loved everything. We rented a car for 2 days as we love to explore independently. However a taxi is so easy to take from place to place and are very plentiful and reasonably priced
Nothing to add here

Breakfast, kind staff, bungalow, greenery throughout the property, the hammock on the pier
Trash all over the beach area, ramp entrance is a falling hazard. I fell twice

The property was absolutely stunning and the location was serene and peaceful. Agusta provided full concierge service and accomodated my needs. I enjoyed relaxing on the beach and pier, using their paddle boards, and hanging in the hammock. Super dreamy!
The area is not very walkable, but it was easy to find inexpensive cabs and water taxis.

Breakfast had the best options the location was absolutely amazing quiet very private the staff even more amazing

We really enjoyed our stay at the Puerta Azul in Roatan, Honduras. The property is right on the beach. The rooms are spacious and well equipped. The owner, Talia, and the manager, Augusta, are very friendly and helpful. The included breakfast and the other meals are all delicious. They have good cooks.
Talia and Augusta will answer all your questions. They know where to find the best beaches, and snorkeling and diving spots. They know the best tours to take. I would recommend using the ferry to take a day trip to the rainforest on the mainland. Another must is to visit the Maya Eden Eco-Park on Roatan. It’s an interesting place. Everyone’s favorite thing to do there is to hold the sloths. West Bay Beach is the best beach on the island and has a nice reef. It’s a $5 taxi ride in a collectivo van or $10 in a taxi from Puerta Azul. You simply must visit this beach.
Puerta Azul has some of the best coral reefs right off their beach. You should spend a lot of time right on the property. You can walk out on their long dock and jump in. You can see some nice fish as soon as you enter but you should swim out from the dock 100 yards to see the best part of the colorful coral reef and beautiful tropical fish. This is one of the best places to snorkel or dive from the shore. It is definitely one of the healthiest reefs in the Caribbean. The property can also send you on on a boat to visit the coral if you don’t feel like swimming a lot.

Exceeded our expectations. Would definitely stay again.

The free breakfast that was included was always great! I loved that Puerta Azul is a small and quiet resort which was very relaxing with beautiful sunsets. The hammocks on the end of the pier were awesome.
Puerta Azul does have a private beach but I prefer the turquoise blue water and white sand beaches typical of the Carribean which Puerta Azul did not have.
4.7
Such a beautiful stay with amazing snorkeling on the reefs just a quick swim off the dock. Great food at the restaurant, or an easy drive with a taxi into town. Thank you Augusta, Talia and Rose for a lovely week!
4.7
snorkel from the end of the dock
There was some early groundskeeping that woke me once, I notified the owner and it wasn’t an issue again. The bathroom had no doors in our bungalow, which we don’t prefer but worked fine.
4.7
Puerto Azul was the perfect location to experience Roatan. Located in Sandy Bay it was peaceful and beautiful but also close enough to catch a taxi or drive to the West End for shopping and eating. The reef just beyond the dock was an easy paddle through crystal clear water and the fish and beautiful coral were abundant.
We liked everything! Comfortable room, great restaurant, quiet… a great experience.

We came in February and stayed for 3 nights in Casa Mono as part of our honeymoon. We really wished we could have stayed for longer! The casita was beautiful, spotless, and very spacious for two! Talia the owner and Augusta the manager were so fabulous and accommodating. Rosa is the most amazing cook, I could just drink the sauce from the Caribbean shrimp!! Last but not least the reef was incredible, right off the dock! We are still dreaming about our time here a month later - 10/10 would recommend!

Everything was nice, a village apart setup, cozy and quiet, breakfast was great , ambient cool, plants and trees all around and staff very friendly. Good parking . Cabin we stayed was super clean, equipped with all comforts of travel.
Tho hot water was scarce ,they made a good effort to fix, wreather was so nice it wasnt a big deal tho the girls needed it. We were 5 and only 4 chairs at the dining table.
4.7
The staff and mangement were very helpful! Food was excellent too. Homemade authentic honduran cousine
4.7
Upon arrival we were greeted by Talia and Antonio who immediately grabbed our bags and took them to our bungalow. The cleanliness in the bungalow is striking upon arrival. The bungalow is cute with wood louvered blinds to allow the tropical breeze to flow with the ceiling fan above the very comfortable bed. A safe is provided to secure your valuables. On the porch is a hammock that we enjoyed for late evening reading. The wifi internet service is exceptional and accessible throughout the property!
We would have preferred a closed toilet closet.
4.7
Rooms were exceptionally clean and comfortable. great pier and snorkeling. napping in the hammocks over the water was amazing. Talia and her staff took care of all our needs and made the stay and doing activities relaxed and easy.
could not walk to town
