A beautiful cottage. A shame about the building work next door.
The cottage was comfortable. It was well-equipped, especially the kitchen, which had all the pots and pans you could need, a dishwasher, microwave, toaster, kettle. There was a utility room in the cellar with a washing machine. The linen and towels were provided and changed each week. The shower was powerful. I may have spent some time in the garden, had it been a little warmer, and had there not been scaffolding and building work going on next door. It looked like a pleasant little haven, though. I was staying on my own, but there would have been space for a couple or a small family. There was a myriad of lovely walks right from the doorstep. Tideswell has everything you need: pubs, cafes, a pharmacy, an Italian restaurant, fish and chip shop, a greengrocers, a Co-op, bus services to Castleton, Buxton and Bakewell, Sheffield. Other than the beautiful countryside, there is the ' Cathedral of the Peak' church, which is impressive. All in all, it was a very relaxing break and the cottage was a comfortable base.
The main downside was the building work taking place on the adjoining cottage. Most of this seemed to be roofing and was very loud, from the noise of the work and voices - you could hear every word. This continued even at the weekend and bank holidays. I accept this was not the fault of the property owner, and I was out a lot of the time, anyway, but it was very loud and did make the stay less peaceful than it could have been. I generally managed to find a parking space on the road by the cottage, but parking was limited by the property, which may necessitate parking on another road at times.

Lovely cottage in a great location with really good facilities
Location was great - short walk into the village centre. Cottage was well maintained, with good space. Having a small courtyard garden was a lovely bonus. A fantastic place!
A 2nd WC would have been great if 4 people staying, but otherwise fantastic!

Good
Well equipped cottage with an attractive garden and lovely outdoor seating
The dust behind the beds and hairs on the floor and dust under rugs. A lovely cottage that would benefit from a more thorough clean.

Small but perfectly formed!
Perfect base for exploring the area and both the cottage and Tideswell have everything you could want. A comfortable, well equipped house with a pretty, totally secure garden which had two seating areas. In hot weather, the ground and first floors could be kept cool and you could keep the door to the garden open. The bedrooms and bathroom were larger than expected and nicely done. The cellar was an additional useful space. I’m sure it would be very cosy too.
The top of the house was very hot, getting the sun morning and night - maybe needs a fan? I found the double bed and pillows very uncomfortable, but that is just be personal preference, the mattress is very hard and the pillows flat.

Warm, cosy and well appointed the cottage was ideal as a base in lovely village of Tideswell to explore the wider area
Well appointed, comfortable and warm
We were lucky finding a parking place on the road but still made it tricky loading and unloading in the ice and snow
