Staying a few minutes from Coban, in a beautiful little piece of jungle

The property is absolutely beautiful, situated in the middle of a small forest. The owners are very dedicated to conserving and restoring the beautiful nature in this area. It's possible to spot some rare birds. The meals are simple, but tasty and well-priced. Otto was very helpful in providing suggestions for activities and arranging the shuttle for us to our next destination. Coban is very easy to reach, with chicken busses passing by every 10 minutes or so.

Otto es muy atento, el lugar muy tranquilo y la atencion de servicio de desayuno es excelente. Muy recomendado si buscas pasarla tranquilo y alejarte del bullicio. me volvería a hospedar en este lugar.

Mejorar la limpieza de las instalaciones, había bastante polvo. pero nada que no pudiera resolverse.

Inexpensive, peaceful, nice views, friendly owners

Wonderful little oasis in the jungle just outside Coban. If you plan to visit Orchigonia and/or if you prefer a quiet place near Coban, it’s perfect! Beds are pretty hard but Otto and family were lovely, the food was good and it was a perfect first stop for us after an overnight flight. Just ask the bus to drop you at Orchigonia turnoff.

Best place during our holidays

The hosts were all very nice. They will help you with everything. Hugo and Anita took us all around the forest and gave a very interesting tour. The house is located in a forest you get this really nice jungle feel. The beds were good, we had some good nights.

Unique experience

This is a unique place on the outskirts of Coban. It is very basic in terms of rooms and beds but the overall experience feels genuine and homely. It was great to be able to see the sunset from the bar on a hammock and to have a proper home-cooked meal in a rustic kitchen. The whole family who run the place are welcoming and friendly.

It does get cold at night. Some heavier blankets would have been welcome.

it was located in a beautiful jungle spot, very quiet and away from all the busy roads. The host, Otto, was really nice and knowledgeable about the area, and he made wonderful food for us.

Forest serenity!

Otto and his family showed us the highest degree of kindness and hospitality! Otto greeted us and gave us a tour of his bucolic property, replete with flowers, animals, and trails! His home is huge with a very forest lodge feel. His parents were super kind and his mom made us an amazing breakfast! We loved our stay here and give it our highest recommendation!

The Place Is in the middle of the nature..If you want to relax and to get disconnected it's the best place to stay. Otto, his father and Zoila make you feel at home since the moment you get there. Their home made food Is delicious! Last but not least... they have hot showers!

Chilling in the nature

It is a really calm place in the Nature. You can take nice walks in the rainforest. The stuff is really friendly. Especially Otto was really helpful. I would recommend if you are searching something to come down.

We had the most wonderful stay here with Otto and his father, they are the most amazing hosts! So friendly and interesting. This is the perfect place to see incredible birds such as toucanettes and Mots Mots and Otto is a bird watching expert! We had a beautiful view of the forest from our room so bring an eye mask if need darkness if you need darkness. LoOtto cooks delicious food which is really, really reasonable. His lovely dad has a beautiful orchid collection. The whole place is solar which is brilliant for the environment and they built all of the furniture and lodges themselves, it is truly a gloriously tranquil place run by a lovely Guatemalan family.

The hospitality was amazing! Otto and his dad made us feel like home. Otto is an amazing chef and cooked the most delicious food! If you love birds Otto knows so much about the birds that can be found on their land and beyond. And if you love plants Otto's dad knows so much about Orchids and plants. So if you are a nature lover and love the tranquillity of the cloudforest you must stop at this place. They share a passion that is contagious. I will definitely come back.

The most amazing place we stayed in Guatemala. A very peaceful place to be. Otto and Victor were super helpful with anything we needed. Soila was making delicious food for us. When I am back to Gautemala I definitely will come back there.

A very good experience to be in nature and see the birds

The cabana is in the jungle. The owner is very nice, looked after us, providing diner, lunch at good price. He gives us a lift in town, showing were to clean our clothes, other things we need, after he took us for a walk in the jungle to see plants and birds. He has the tiniest bees.

Great host and owner, poor facilities

We stayed three people in the loft room with five single beds. The reception on arrival was positive. Host Otto picked us up by the main road in his car, after having instructed us in how to get off the bus (from Guatemala City) at the right location. The room was spacious, and was cleaned and made up every day. For a small orice Otto Will Cook you dinner, which was very Nice since there are No restaurants nearby. His food was good! As a host Otto is caring and attentive and for the most part manages to make up for the negative. The same May be said about owner Anita. Otto drove us to the bus terminal several times, which was very convenient for us. Please do be aware that local transport is dangerous and very risky (we were involved in an accident in public transport on the road to Candelaria), so consider using tourist transport (contact the INGUAT) office.

The room was very spartanic. There is hardly any light, neither in the bathroom. The reason for this is to avoid disturbing local wild life, the owner claims. Maybe it would be a good idea to look into alternative methods such as blinds or curtains, as this is makes the room uninhabitable in the evening. Upon arrival we were greeted by a live cockroach. In addition electricity is sparse and often doesnt work or is turned off altogether. There is no wifi, which is an essential for planning during travels. Water and Electric al installations are of poor quality. The room is not insulated well, and the roofing looks like they are about to fall down any minute. Had it not been for the lighting or lack of wifi, i would have rated this place a 10, but with these things in mind it is difficult.

A beautiful small place, hidden in the green forrest. The owner is very nice and tries hard to make everybody happy. And

The natural atmosphere, by design and surroundings.

Not enough light, even during the day. The second night we cooked ourselves, together with the other guests, which was nice and cosy, but we needed to use headlight in order to see anything. And in the day we needed the headlights to pack our suitcase; it would be nice to have a little more light in the room and in the kitchen. But no reason not to go!

Verdadero Paraíso

It was absolutely astonishing. The hotel is in the middle of a forest and holds an orchid sanctuary that the owner was so kind of giving us a tour through. And it is not far from Cobán

The nature around it is amazing and the wild birds that we encountered in our stay where majestic.

Absolutely amazing and inspiring ecohouse, village or farm dont know how to call it excatly..:) Beautiful views, in the jungles, very relaxing. Nice kitchen to cook and budget accommodation, owners very nice and so friendly, one of the best places had stayed, absolutely recomend.
