Things to do and places to go: There is a less than 5 minute walk to beach and downtown area. You do not have to drive. This house features tons of parking, large backyard,wrap around farmers porch, and back yard patio. This is the perfect place for a get away. Once downtown there are lots of shops to choose from. You have the option to go bowling, play arcade games, retail shops, and all different types of restaurants to choose from. Also there is an amusement park with rides and a zoo, which is fun for the whole family.
Check in is 3pm. Check out is before 10am. No exceptions.
Weekly rentals are from SATURDAY TO SATURDAY. When available, additional nightly rates can be added to your weekly rental. Typical rates are $550 per night/3 night minimum. This is only in the off season.
A refundable security deposit of $500, is required, and is not included in the rental price. After your stay, upon a final inspection, your security deposit will be mailed to you within 10 business days. Home away also offers damage protection for up to $5000 for only $99.
We reserve the right to cancel your time slot if we have not received payment within 2 business days.

We have not received our $500 security deposit. It has been 6 weeks since our stay. I have emailed the owner twice but have had no response regarding our security deposit. We have been renting houses in York for many years and have never had this issue.
The house is old and in need of updating but everything was working.

This cottage is well located near the sand short beach as written, kitchen is well equiped (but miss a lobster pot), home appliances are also recent and work well. But very desapppointed that this is NOT for 12 guests, only for 11 persons. The room with the sink only have one twin bed, not a double bed as described. So, we had to buy a pneumatic mattress during our stay. The owner never aswer me back about that when i wrote to him during our stay. The house in general is not in good condition, need a big cleaning and furnitures are very used.

Old, said would sleep 12, only had beds for 11, a single bed was in one of the bedrooms that had shown a double bed.

Myself and 8 other ladies had a great girls weekend here. We enjoyed hanging out on the porch when we weren't @ the beach or shopping. We would definitely stay here again.

Great Location
House was close to the beach and shopping. Owner communicated with me over a year ago. Check-in smooth and house had plenty of room for 12 people. Large front porch was the place we hung out and spent alot of our time. Back yard great to BBQ and play yard games.

Great family house
Older home but lots of space, plenty of parking and great backyard for getting children out of house and off screens. We brought a $50 portable volleyball/ badminton net, whiffle ball, frisbee and children were playing outside all day and night. Five minute walk to Short Sands beach, 7 mins to playground. I have rented a lot of homes through VRBO. This was without question the best supplied with basics that you don't need to replenish after a few days....dishwashing/ laundry detergent, paper towels and quality toilet paper, trash bags, etc. Kitchen was well equipped. Great value.

Family vacation spot
Think we have found our new family vacation place! Plenty of house space/parking for all of us (9 adults & kids). Having the backyard to play games / hangout was awesome.
Owner was great if we needed anything. Short walk to the beach, downtown or York Animal Kingdom.
Appreciated the 6 bedrooms for everyone to have their personal space. Large front porch to hang out on.
Will definitely be back. Felt like home away from home.

Large home, close to Short Sands
This is our 4th year staying in this house and we love it! When we walk in, all of the kids say "it feels like we are home". It is a very short walk to Short Sands beach, a short drive to Cape Neddick beach (the kids love looking for hermit crabs at low tide) and near all of the fun shops and restaurants in York Beach. The house itself is huge, plenty of room for our 4 adults and 6 kids. It is an older home, which is kept very clean but it is definitely "lived in". We like that for the kids! It sits on a double lot and the back yard is off of a dead end street so the kids can play safely outside. We enjoy our stays here very much!

Clean, great location and good for large groups.
We had 12 people stay at the house. There was plenty of room. Loved that there was a bedroom on the first floor for my parents who have trouble with stairs. The backyard was very private. It was large enough to play some yard games. There was also plenty of seating in the living room to fit most all of us comfortably. The bedrooms were all also good sizes, which was great because we had three babies all in pack n plays with us. I can't say enough good things. We look forward to returning next year!

Huge house, perfect for our large family!
This house was a great stay for our family trip from the West coast! The rooms were large and the yard was awesome for our kids to play, and for a family barbeque. It was so close to the beach, playground, and the downtown location shopping and fun things to do. Great location!! They were very accommodating and very kind, responded quickly to our questions and needs. We will definitely keep this house bookmarked for when we plan it next trip back!

It was a wonderful week.
I would highly recommend this home to rent if you have a large family you want to spend a fun filled week with.
For me and my husband to have our children, their wives and the grandchildren all together for a week was priceless. The beach and other activities were a short walk away. I had fractured my ankle 3 weeks before our trip and was still able to walk to the beach because of its close distance. You don't find many rentals that come with all the basic everyday necessities there for you.

Perfect for our family's needs
My family has spent a week together in Maine for the past three summers. This was our favorite house, and if we're able to continue the tradition, we will stay here each time. There was plenty of space for us all to stay, and there were 7 adults and 3 young children.
It was a very easy walk to downtown and Short Sands Beach. My 20 month old was able to walk it too. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. Having air conditioning in each bedroom was an added bonus. The house had everything we needed, from spices to linens and even Kleenex!
There is plenty of parking, the backyard is great and the front porch is wonderful! I hope your family enjoys your stay here as much as mine did.

Great stay!
Fantastic house! Very spacious, clean, wireless that worked well, rooms all comfortable and laid out well. Great house for socializing. We spent most of our time on the front porch ... large with many chairs on a quiet street. Short walk into the heart of the town and to the beach. Met the owner (the father), a very nice man who takes care of his home with pride. Would certainly recommend!

Everything and more
We absolutely loved this house. We have 10 kids and it was nothing short of perfect. I loved the location of the house. Literally a short walk to the beach. Even our three year old walked without any problems. John was so sweet and was more than willing to accommodate for our every need. We didn't have to worry about a thing...it may not seem like a big deal but laundry detergent, plenty of toilet paper, an abundance of towels, blankets, pillows, etc. even a crib if we needed it. We have stayed at some places where none of that was provided and this was an absolute luxury not having to worry about a thing. We enjoyed using the grill several times. If you need anything John is just a phone call away to tend to your every need. Would we stay there again...ABSOLUTELY!

The price of the home cannot be beat. Yes, there are some cosmetic things that do not match other homes in the area... But they are small and do not detract from the experience at all! This is our second time renting here. It's a short walk to town, beach and of course the Union Bluff our favorite place for lunch. One thing for older travelers to know is here are a lot of stairs to climb. Other than that the kitchen is well stocked with every utensil you could need, there is a grill and patio set in the back yard and plenty of front porch furniture where I spent time reading. The beds were made and ready for our stay. We will return again and highly recommend you give this home a try. Cindy

We stayed here for the first time from June 27-July 4. The home was very large, comfortable and clean. I wish we had known about this rental 10 years ago when we started our annual trip to York to visit relatives. This home is a great value for everything that is included: kitchen is stocked with good quality items, A/C units in most rooms as well as fans available. Outdoor grill with propane was included as well as soaps, laundry detergent, bedding, towels, and many other items. Home is very well kept and was very clean. Bathrooms are not pictured on the site when we booked, but are VERY nice, clean and updated. It was only a 5 minute walk to the beach which is so convenient. And, of course, our teenage boys couldn't survive without the wi-fi that was also provided with this rental. This will be the first rental that I check on for any future stays in York. We arrived and were welcomed immediately and given a tour of the home. Communication has been very timely. I never had to wait on a response whether via email or phone. Highly recommend! Even though Brown's ice cream has closed, we enjoyed Dunne's ice cream near the lighthouse during our stay, Robert's restaurant in Kittery, movies in Wells, ME, shopping in Newington, NH at Fox Run Mall, and, of course, Short Sands Beach with all of the shops. Oh, and the "Bennies" at St. Joe's Coffee Shop across from Hanniford's were amazing!

This home was great for our family beach week get together. It worked very well for two families to sleep upstairs and Grandpa to have his own room on the main level. We had six kids (ranging in age from 2-15 years) and five adults. It is an older home, so worn older floors, functioning but outdated appliances in the kitchen (fridge & dishwasher are newer) and clutter under porch and in garage, etc., but everything works fine and the living space of the house was bright, clean and updated with new paint (washer/dryer were also new and bathrooms updated). The house was VERY well stocked with soaps (dishwasher, dish, hand soaps, laundry, shampoo, body soap, etc), linens, towels, ziplock baggies, Tupperware, toilet paper, paper towels, paper plates, plastic utensils, basic condiments & spices.... Linens & towels (including a few for the beach) were in excellent condition (new). We have rented several times through VRBO and never has a house been so well stocked upon arrival. So considerate of the owner and definitely not typical.
Each room has A/C unit and fans, which was wonderful on warmer days. Some obstructed ocean views across the street from the front rooms, but we could smell the salt water which was so nice!
Owner lives close by and was prompt in addressing minor issues with the home.
The house sits on a quiet street with a sidewalk to the beach--literally a 5 min walk to short sands & the shops and restaurants and kids could ride bikes/scooters safely & easily to the beach. The back yard is great with a nice grill and huge back yard for the kids to play (yard backs to dead end road where kids could safely ride bikes & play). We parked the car and didn't need it other than runs to the grocery store.
Parents--the house had a pack & play and kid gate (which we uses at the top of the back stairs as they were very steep & dangerous for the 2 year olds).

This was a wonderful home for our family. The owners are so accommodating and clearly love there home. We were 8 adults and 6 children aged 7 and under. Every day we walked to the beach, walked for ice cream, walked to the arcade Andover day walked to the zoo / amusement park. This made having 6 children a piece of cake! Great nearby restaurants and idyllic views - we're coming back next year!
