One of the best hotels in Switzerland, not that dog-friendly.

Beautiful hotel with huge territory. Friendly personnel, great food and most comfortable beds. Beach is also really nice. We are definitely coming back again.

Only downside is that despite the fact that the hotel is announced as dog-friendly one can only have the dog in the room, lobby and on 2 sunbeds hidden away in the corner next to spa. We should have checked detailed rules before booking as it turns out all „dog-friendly“ hotels in Ascona are following the same policy. Personnel did their best to make our stay with the dog more pleasant, but next time we are coming without him for sure. If you have a choice I would advise to leave your 4-legged friends at home.

Very good

The head waiter of the main restaurant eyed us critically and reacted gruffly to the fact that we had no reservation for the restaurant. Yet numerous tables remained unoccupied on that night.

It could have been wonderful had our service dog been allowed access to other areas on the property

Beautiful setting, great accommodations and very friendly staff.

We were under the impression our certified service dog would be able to accompany us throughout the facilities. Unfortunately, he was not allowed in any of the restaurants with the exception of one lounge area. Therefore, we could not enjoy all the beautiful dining areas at the facility. This is just about the first time we have paid for this level of accommodations where our very certified service dog could not accompany us. We would like to return, but this was a very big disappointment.

rooms are beautiful and nicely laid out property is very large with beautiful landscaping pool and spa are both fantastic lake beach is also beautiful restaurants are both delicious staff is very efficient and courteous property is perfect both for families with children and couples one of my best experiences in a relais and chateaux

the best in Ascona

the location is amazing . the park is absolutely divine , it ends on a lovely beach. we were travelling with a dog and they were really welcoming , we really appreciated. the tennis courts are great as well :)

the pool was really too cold. the only low side of an amazing property.

Fantastic hotel. Slight need for renovation.

Fantastic, very well maintained facility. Very friendly staff.

The room door was not very insulating. Noises from the hallway were very loud. Furthermore, the air circulation in the main building is not very good. Smells from the restaurant can still be tasted in the building for a relatively long time.

An escape from the typical 5 star hotels - amazing facilities, wonderful staff, exceptional service

Exceptional service, wonderful staff without the stuffiness and pomp. A truly 5-star experience. Fantastic views and gardens and on 140 hectares, no limit to finding a quiet space to relax and unwind. Wonderful food - try the 1 star Michelin restaurant. Congratulations Castello del Sole team - the first experience for us and we would absolutely return.

Not honest

Nice garden by the lake. Delicious food-very friendly, polite waitresses.

We booked two superior double rooms. But we did get only one superior double room. The two single beds were attached to each other- not even a classic queen bed :( They didn’t have a 240x240 duvet. So as a couple you sleep with two single duvets. In brief, not a real 5* hotel.

Just room sound insulation issue that a bit noisy from morning corridor due to room service trolly.

Very clean and comfortable. Excellent staff and service. Magnificient landscape and park. Nice pool, super restaurants and lovely internal winery.

Rich variation of different food on breakfast. The location of hotel is beautiful with a nice view on a lake and big private garden for walking around the hotel. Tennis courts are available for play.
