The most amazing stay. Loved every minute of it

This place was everything and more. Took my mum away for her 70th birthday, they made her birthday so special, they helped me decorate the rooms with balloons and banners, made her a birthday cake which they gave to her at dinner and sang happy birthday. The rooms were lovely, the place is surrounded in beautiful trees and plants, you walk from your rooms to the pool/dining area which is located on the beach. The views are incredible. White sands and blue water. The staff were simply the best, so friendly and polite. Helped you with anything that you needed, offered a free massage during your staff. The food was amazing. They organised activities for you. The hotel is about 1hrs drive from the airport. Unforgettable experience. 100% recommend

Piccola, molto local e un ottimo ristorante. Si sta molto bene…

Abbiamo preso la migliore camera che offre la struttura. È la più vicina al mare e visto è molto esposta al vento (soprattutto di notte), alla lunga stanca un po’ visto che la camera ha delle aperture laterali e delle vecchie porte.

First of all, here is the Africa do not expect top notch hotels Best feel nice design, rooms are very local and feel in beach holiday. Nothing around you better hire car if you stay this hotel

Water are salty (shower) Food is good but pricey and not enough in plate. To much tide on the beach not for swim but looks brilliant.

Veldig bra

Kjempe fint hotell, er relativt lite så er ikkje stapp fult med folk noe vi syntes var veldig deilig. Personalet var også svært hyggelige å fekk oppgradert til et bedre rom gratis ettersom det var ledig. Frokosten er kjempe bra med frukt, brødmat inkludert valgfritt måltid der man kan velge mellom avokadotoast, yoghurt med müsli, graut, egg osv. middagen og lunsjen var også veldig god men ganske dyr, i gjengjeld er det store porsjoner og ordentlig laga til. Dersom man ikke ønsker å bruke mye penger på mat hver dag ligger det en lokal restaurant rett bak hotellet med svært god mat.

Ikke kjøleskap på rommer eller aircondition, men er vifter så går helt fint å sove

Niezapomniane widoki, obsługa hotelu była nie tylko przemiła, ale także niezwykle profesjonalna, co sprawiło, że nasz pobyt był wyjątkowy i niezapomniany. Dodatkowo, warto wspomnieć o bogatym menu – świeże owoce morza i ryby, wszystko pochodzące z lokalnych, organicznych źródeł, a przy tym w przystępnych cenach. Hotel położony jest przy długiej, piaszczystej plaży, co dodaje uroku i zapewnia relaksującą atmosferę. Dzięki tym wszystkim aspektom czuliśmy się niezwykle komfortowo, jak w domu, i z pewnością wrócimy tu nie raz. Gorąco polecamy spędzenie urlopu właśnie w tym hotelu, gdzie doświadczenie jest niepowtarzalne.

Teuer und unspektakulär.

Schöner, kleiner Pool mit tollem Ausblick auf Meer Sehr nettes Personal. Gratis 30min Massage

Seit euch bewusst, dass der Strand zum schwimmen gehen fast garnicht geeignet ist. Bei Ebbe sowieso nicht und bei Flut nur SEHR vorsichtig mit Schuhe. Auf jeden Fall nichts für Kinder. Der Stand ist komplett voll mit Seeigeln und einmal nicht aufgepasst verbringt man den Rest des Urlaubs in Krankenhaus oder im Bett. Des Weiteren ist alles voller Seegrass. Man wird am Strand eigentlich ständig angesprochen. Das Essen war leider überhaupt nicht gut. Das Frühstück war lieblos und sehr einseitig hier können wir die ganzen positiven Kommentare absolut nicht nachvollziehen. Zum Essen (wenn man nicht Halbpension hat weil es im Hotel EXTREM teuer ist) sucht man sich lieber außerhalb was für 1/3 des Preises (das haben uns vor Ort auch alle anderen Hotelgäste so gesagt) Die Zimmer sind nicht klimatisiert - grade vor der Regenzeit wenn es heiß ist leiert kaum auszuhalten da sollte man sich bewusst sein. Alles in allem waren wir leider enttäuscht und würden das Hotel zu diesem Preis nicht nochmal buchen.

Magnifique !

Le personnel est à l’écoute et d’une gentillesse incroyable. La chambres été propre et très bien équipé. La plage de l’hôtel est magnifique contrairement à d’autre ici sur Zanzibar. La vue de l’hôtel est absolument magnifique le petite déjeuner est à la carte et donc très bon ! Le personnel a accepté de garder nos bagages pendant notre excursion et nous a même proposer de prendre une douche alors que nous avions rendu la chambre. Merci pour cette expérience unique !

Perfect stay!!

Received a free room upgrade and a complimentary massage on arrival. The pool area, the beach and the food were definitely highlights. Gina’s barracuda was to die for! The stay was made super special by the staff, especially Neema and Nice, who made us both feel at home. Trips organised by the hotel were really good - would recommend snorkelling at Mnemba Atoll. Overall a perfect stay!

Wifi didn’t work in our room. We were often woken up at 7am by housekeeping sweeping directly outside our room.

Great food, incredibly planned property and very warm staff! Absolutely loved it!

incredibly planned, good landscaping, lovely villas that need no air conditioning and gorgeous pool. the restaurant is excellent especially their lobster pasta! the entire staff is jovial, helpful and warm.

as it’s right by the beach the rooms could use a couple of floor mats to reduce bringing the sand inside. Some ant and mosquito repellants would be great too.

A lovely, relaxing stay in a very peaceful part of the island.

Lovely setting and layout. Rooms a great size, comfortable and lovely views. Pool area was a great place to relax - comfortable seats etc. Restaurant had good food. Lots of fresh seafood and a tasty breakfast. Staff very welcoming and helpful.

In some areas it feels like a little extra maintenance could really lift the property further.

I love it all- Nothing to say except lovely staff, beautiful pools, garden, tastefully decorated, comfortable. We didn't want to leave.

The water pressure was a little weak and the water a little salty but it didn't really disturb us 0 and I expect it is difficult for the hotel to do anything about that. The pool is a little tricky to get in and out off for limited mobility people as it is a big step in and out.

Great facility but overpriced on everything else .

love the layout , small intimate and quiet beautiful views .

No AC in rooms , very hot and uncomfortable to sleep . expensive overpriced on essentials at shop up to 3 times whats available outside of the hotel and food was good but expensive . On top of this expensive pricing a 5% Additional card fee is charged if using a card to pay . this is a rip off . would certainly never visit again .

We liked the whole concept of the hotel, room, yard, pool, beach in front. Everything looks and feels really nice. Staff is very nice and helpful, they do great job!

air conditioner is a must!!! In such a beautiful hotel and there are only fans?!!! we couldn't sleep because of the heat in the room!

we had the very last room near the road which felt airless and very dark and hot. it felt that the rooms were all crammed together as many as possible in a small area. this may be different for the sea facing rooms and ones that got a bit or light .

A very relaxing stay in a breathtaking beach location

We spent 4 nights here and we loved everything about this place. The resort is well laid out and the gardens, pools and communal areas are immaculate. The Spa offers excellent treatments at very good prices. The restaurant area is lovely and the food was generally excellent. We loved the cocktails too. And then there is the beach - wow! One of the most breathtaking we have ever come across - dazzling white, powdery sand with beautiful shells, starfish and sea urchins. It is stunning both when the tide is out and when it is in. We could swim easily each afternoon and there are very comfortable sun beds with shade on the beach (as well as round the pools). The resort provides tide tables, so you can plan your day. You can walk to other beach restaurants and to local places behind the resort. We highly recommend this place. A real haven of peace after a hectic safari! Thank you Prisca and all the staff for looking after us so well!

If we have to be picky, you sometimes had to wait a long time for your food to appear. Also, the Masai on the beach, whilst extremely friendly and respectful, will not leave you alone until you buy something from them. Make sure you have small dollar notes with you (or shillings), as the resort was not always able to help with this.

Superb

Very friendly staff, beautiful view from the room. Nice pool. Good food. We could make earlier check in, very good welcome Juice and wet towels. Sun beds on the Beach. Recommended. Close to Mnemba Island So You can get good price from beach boys to travel there. Its windy beach good for kitetesurfing. It's a good place if You want to avoid a lot of tourist, more cameral. A lot of trees/palms on beach line.

Breakfast only egg and very dirty coffee they charged me foemr 2 cappuccino daily. breakfast included but u have to pay to get clean water to drink and only black coffee if u want cappuccino they charge u. pool were dirty and with wet paint every time we enter we go our white. and no hot water in the room. wifi gets off at 11pm daily and most of the time not working it was our worst stay ever. we run to go back home will never go back.

Modern idyllic Zanzibar beach haven

The property was stunning, a perfect blend of luxury and rustic with modern African flair. Unlike most of the resorty type properties in Zanzibar, this was small, personal and idyllic. The grounds are very green and lush and blend beach and jungle. The staff were really lovely, spoke impeccable English, and found a perfect balance of being available, kind and considerate without being in your face all the time. The restaurant food was the best we have had the whole time we’ve been in Tanzania. We do not normally eat in hotel restaurants and much prefer to go local or authentic restaurants but we ate here several days in a row because it was such good, fresh, well prepared food with the menu changing daily. The location of the hotel is right on the beach, so there are stunning views over the pool and from the rooms and quick access to the beach. The hotel was very clean, and the staff made it feel very homely. On arrival we were upgraded and got a free massage which was a lovely touch. The whole experience, the staff and environment have meant it has been one of the best places we have ever stayed.

They charge $5 for most things outside of 1 x plate of fruit and bread which most hotels include in the standard price (e.g oatmeal). If at all possible (appreciate it might not be) I would recommend looking into filtered water. Some of the other eco-hotels we went to provided filtered water to help the impact on the planet (granted this was on mainland so may not be feasible on Zanzibar). We used lots of plastic bottles to have access to drinking water at dinner/in the room etc. Matemwe is so much cleaner and more tranquil than more populated areas of Zanzibar, however you’re very remote and reliant on taxis (which are more expensive when ordered via the hotel than on the street) I would recommend hiring a motor bike at some point (requires a permit).

Paradise on earth

I have no words to describe this amazing property! Fantastic facilities, magnificent local people running it at the best location in Zanzibar! Also must mention the restaurant, food to die for! we were eating there daily! I totally recommend this place to both couples and families! Wow!
