Exceptional in every way

Martin is an exceptional host. We were welcomed with a pot of tea and warm homemade mince pies with clotted cream. Martin had very kindly let us check in early because we were going to a funeral at the nearby church. The place itself is beautiful and full of genuine traditional antique style furnishings. One of the most welcoming, warm, comfortable and cosy places we've ever stayed. We loved absolutely everything about it. I couldn't reccommend staying here highly enough. We didn't want to leave.

It's all just perfect.

Great host, very accommodating of my dog. Great breakfast and room. Room was huge. Have stayed here several times and would recommend.

Good enough considering convenience, friendliness and food.

Great breakfast with lots of choice. Host was very friendly and amenable.

I did feel there were rather too many personal trinkets/pictures of the host in the bed- room, and I would have liked a kettle and tea tray in the room.

A perfect place to stay

Room very comfortable and clean. Breakfast spectacular - lots of choice. Host very warm and friendly and a very interesting and intelligent person to chat to. Also very accommodating to my night time late arrival. Highly recommended place to stay and would definitely return.

Exceptional - would definitely stay again.

A lovely property with beautiful bedrooms, and exceptionally welcoming host and large choice of breakfast items. Would definitely stay again.

The only reason I marked facilities down to 4 instead of 5 was that the bathroom was shared - this was not a problem for us however.

Thoroughly recommend

Very warm welcome with tea and cake, lovely friendly host,large comfortable room. Breakfast five star with fresh fruit and croissant. Well placed for dog walks.

I found the bed a bit uncomfortable but I do have hip discomfort.

I would definitely recommend this property to anybody who would like to stay in the area

The whole experience was very good MARTIN was a good host and an excellent cook when it came to breakfast.

The property was well appointed visually pleasing no traffic around so quiet nights sleep

Perfect in every way.

The breakfast was amazing. All cooked to order and served on hot plates, with a huge choice. So hospitable, tea and cake served on arrival, cosy and warm throughout with the added bonus of real fires. Fab little pub over the road. Excellent hosting. I travelled on my own and felt at home right away.

There was nothing that could be better.

Welcome and breakfast second to none!

Grand old house in lovely village location with just a tiny stroll to the pub. Martin was a superb host with tea and cake brought to us on arrival. He was friendly and informative and couldn't have done any more for us. The breakfast was sublime, so much choice and scrummy. Good thing we were only staying one night or I would have had to buy more clothes if staying a week. Good hot shower and proper sized toiletries. Best B&B we have stayed in.

Bed was too hard for me.

Wonderful setting and hospitality!

I was a sole traveller, on training in Okehampton and had booked the double room with private bathroom. The room was nicely done, with TV and good amount of space. Beautiful outlook over gardens and lovely walk in shower. . Owner was welcoming and friendly, offering me tea and amazing homemade cake on arrival! I then retired to my room for the evening. In the morning, breakfast and hospitality was incredible! I felt like a queen! Beautiful outlook, located in a lovely village tucked away in the moors. I will be visiting again!!

Outstanding!

We have stayed at many properties but none compare to the excellent stay we had with Martin. He is a fantastic host and couldn’t be more helpful. Breakfast was delicious and much appreciated. Totally recommend a stay at Elmfield and the house is beautiful 😃

Very convivial, welcoming host. Nothing too much trouble and a mine of information re where to visit. Fastastic choice of Breakfast. Extrememely comfortable, tasteful furnishings. Felt so relaxed, I could have stayed longer. Thank you, Martin. Will definitely return and would highly recommend!
