The location was perfect. The history of the residence fascinating. The hosts most accommodating. We had a problem that was quickly attended to and solved. Everything we needed was on hand and our dog loved walking about in the yard. Elder visitors alert: the top step is tough to negotiate, but we did.

This is a lovely cottage that's perfectly situated between the town of Woodstock and the Overlook Mountain trail. Wonderful ambiance, great mattress, generously-appointed kitchen. Only caveat is that the ceilings are quite low in some spots — especially the kitchen entrance and the upstairs loft-style bedroom. Bumped my head a few times when I forgot to duck!

For a peaceful getaway this cottage will serve you well. It’s a long walk (15 min) to central Woodstock and also feels quiet and away from the hustle bustle. Fully equipped, cozy, quaint place. Perfect for - couple and a small pooch, if you have one. Easy communication with owners rep.

The herb cottage was amazing. Has everything you need and is just around the corner from downtown Woodstock. We stayed over the Thanksgiving holiday and were really pleased with the quiet and quaint environment the cottage offered. Would recommend for those looking for a peaceful relaxing stay. (also the wood stove is great)

My husband and I enjoyed a long weekend at this cozy cottage situated within a 5-minute drive of Woodstock’s great shops and restaurants and equally close to Woodstock’s great hiking trails. After long days of walking and hiking we enjoyed relaxing on the chaises in the backyard, and in the evenings the expansive DVD collection was a treat!

Set in a gorgeous, quiet, woodland neighborhood that is a quick walk from the lively Woodstock downtown, it's perfect for a solo retreat or a couple's get-away (which was our situation). It has everything you need for a restorative, comforting stay and feels like an actual home, not a rental unit. Powerful woodstove warmed up our mornings. Big comfortable bed in the loft. Wonderful collection of books tucked in everywhere as well as a huge array of throw-back BluRay video disks for the TV. Loved everything about it. Wish we could have stayed for a week!

My beloved and I just spent 4 unforgettable and wonderful days at Herb Cottage! We would have happily stayed for weeks. Judy's place is a peaceful haven and is a true gem. Very cosy, comfortable and heartwarming. Her assistant Chelsea went above and beyond to make sure every aspect of our stay went well. It was all brilliantly organized and free of any stress or concerns.
We are deeply grateful for such a joyful experience.

The property was very pretty and full of character. We were warm with the stove and heating and found the chairs and sofa extremely comfortable. It was within easy walking distance from the town. We were very happy with our choice and it was a perfect break from the stresses of New York!

Extremely clean, quaint, charming 1 bdrm with great proximity to beautiful hiking and to downtown Woodstock. Lots of great DVDs and a lovely wood stove for cozy evenings. Will definitely be returning!

Great Stay at The Herb Cottage
It was truly a pleasure to stay not only in a cute and quaint cottage but at a part of Woodstock history. Check in was a breeze and the place was stocked with everything we needed for a comfortable week long stay. During the day we hiked, explored Woodstock and other nearby towns and ate at many of the great restaurants. At night it was sitting in front of the fire watching a movie, playing games or reading a book all supplied by the proprietors. On warmer nights the outdoor chairs were a comfortable spot to look at the amazing sky and listen to the nearby stream. An added bonus was the lilacs were in bloom. (my favorite) We highly recommend staying at this cottage and exploring Woodstock and all that the Catskills have to offer!

Cozy cottage getaway
The cottage has a wonderful history and the owners have stocked it with a library of books about Woodstock as well as all kinds of other books. The kitchen is small but stocked with nice plates and cookware so it’s fun to cook here, we made lots of good dinners when we weren’t going out. The owners have great taste and generously provide the cottage with a million different touches that make it special to be there. Wonderful time to be in beautiful Woodstock. Nothing but thank you to our hosts.

Cute, cozy cottage
We really enjoyed our stay in the cottage this fall. It's a little secluded, but still close to everything in the downtown. It looks just as cute in person as in the photos. Most of all we loved being able to hang out by the woodstove as we got a true upstate NY November with 20 degree temps :)

Loved cooking in the kitchen and eating in sunlit breakfast nook.
Wonderful selection of books, games, and DVD's . Especially loved the book `Woodstock, History and Hearsay`because it is about the cottage and the family that loves it.
Appreciated that we could recycle and compost.
The woodstove is awesome!

Cozy Cottage
We loved our stay! The cottage is very cozy and we especially loved the fireplace! We stayed just for a weekend of hiking and enjoying town. The cottage is walking distance to town (10-15min). Being a bit of a neat freak, I appreciated the cleanliness and order of the place (the DvD collection is organized by alphabet- that just gives me joy 😂).
We also appreciated the history of the place! The Upstairs VHS collection & player brought back nostalgic thoughts! So fun! The only downside are the low ceilings/doorways, especially when going up the stairs, so be careful when going up the stairs so you don’t bump your head. But hey, there’s nothing that can be done about that and it’s part of the old cottage charm! 🤷🏼♀️ We’ll be back for sure!

We came to Herb Cottage for 2 nights, needing to to revive & exhale & it was just what we both needed......
So charmingly appointed that you feel transported back to a time when the cottage was actually a thriving Herb Shop.
Lovely location walking distance to the quaint town of Woodstock.
Great communication with the caretakers of the property made for a seamless visit.....only wished we’d stayed longer!

A charming and unique cottage with lots of local history and nice outdoor area. it's a brief drive or a walk to Woodstock town from here. Cozy and comfortable downstairs with plenty of books and DVDs to keep you happy on a rainy or snowy day. Warning to tall people: the upstairs sleeping area is deeply dormered and you need to be a bit acrobatic to get into bed but the bed is comfy once in it!

Great location in quiet cute town.
The cottage was perfect for 2. It was just big enough that we didn't feel claustrophobic but small enough to be cozy. Kitchen was great for cooking and location was perfect distance to give us walks to town and bike some longer paths. We will stay here again.

A Relaxing Return!
This was our second time at The Herb Cottage and it did not disappoint. It was the perfect place to slow down and get some reading done. It was a beautiful few days and it is the perfect location to enjoy the outdoors and the nearby town. We look forward to more visits in the future!

My boyfriend and I stayed at Herb Cottage for a few days and it was an awesome spot. The cottage is quaint, cozy and tidy, and the hosts were extremely hospitable. Herb Cottage a great weekend get-away
We loved our stay at Herb Cottage. It was the perfect weekend get-away. The cottage itself is small but very clean and very nicely decorated. We went up on a weekend that was forecasting snow and we had over a foot. The driveway was plowed out by 9:30 am (the day we were leaving) and the roads were really well taken care of. Any question I had was answered by Chelsea in a friendly, polite, quick response. We felt very well taken care of. We loved the wood burning stove and spent many hours in front of it relaxing and reading. We were able to bring our dogs with us and discovered that they loved laying around the fire. The only thing I would say that was a little challenging is the bed (which is very comfortable) is on the second floor while the bathroom is on the 1st floor. The steps are a little steep and the way the bed is situated on the second floor there is not a lot of head room around it which made getting up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom a little challenging. The cottage is walking distance to town which has really cute shops and very friendly people. We ate breakfast at Bread Alone and it was so good (highly recommend). We will definitely be back for another get-away and will most definitely stay at Herb Cottage! Thanks again, Chelsea for being so responsive and helpful during our stay!

For a trip upstate, look no further
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, over the holidays, at Herb Cottage. The property manager and her assistant were responsive and accommodating, especially considering that we were traveling with a young puppy. The cottage itself is charming, well-appointed and very cozy. We prepared half of our meals in the kitchen and built fires in the wood-burning stove every night. Our hosts thought of everything, down to stocking the place with kindling and wool socks. The cottage is also within walking distance (~0.5 miles) of downtown Woodstock and a short drive to towns in the Hudson Valley (e.g., Hudson, Kingston, Saugerties) and other points of interest (e.g., hiking at Overlook Mountain and the Comeau property and ski areas). We also have to plug Bread Alone and Silvia in Woodstock for breakfast and dinner, respectively. All in all, this served as a wonderful home base for a long weekend upstate, and we would definitely visit again.

Cozy winter hideaway
This cozy cottage on the edge of Woodstock is perfect for relaxing & recharging from the chaos of everyday life. Despite freezing temperatures over Thanksgiving we were kept warm & snug by a fantastic wood burner (& ample stock of logs !) and enjoyed the thoughtful and authentic furnishings that help make this property so special.
It is ideally situated for the short walk into the center of Woodstock and also the surrounding woods in which we saw a variety of local wildlife (deer / barred owl / cardinals etc).
We left refreshed and ready for the world again and will definitely be back.

Great stay at Herb Cottage!
We spent four days at the Herb cottage and enjoyed every minute of it. The house and garden are really nice. The interior decoration is just wonderful. A great sense of detail in every room with lovely taste. You can feel right away that you are in a special place. Then you start to read the book on the history of Woodstock, written by Anita Smith, the former owner, and you realize you are indeed in a very special place, a Woodstock landmark.
We did enjoy some nice restaurants with not only good food but also great service. In particular: Joshua's Cafe, Cucina and the Red Onion. Bread Alone is a great bakery. We also had the chance to go to the Byrdcliffe Theater and see All of my Sons, a wonderful play by Arthur Miller. Also, if you like second-hand vintage clothing, you'll find many stores in Woodstock just for you. Overall, there is a very nice atmosphere in the city and its surroundings, even during busy weekends.
Woodstock is also only 30 minutes away by car from Hunter Mountain and Phoenicia, two places worth the visit when you are here. We also went to see the city of Hudson on the other side of the Hudson river.
Overall, a great experience. I would recommend the Herb cottage to anyone.

Charming cottage close to town
Thankfully it's cooler than the weather outside. We were there during a record setting 100-degrees plus heat wave, but it was mostly ok even without aircon - the ceiling fan and shade offered relief. Easy check-in, well-maintained charming place. Well equipped kitchen. Nice to eat outside in the shade.
