About this cabin rental

Welcome to our charming Up the Hill cabin, just two miles from town. Enjoy birds-eye views of the bay, the Homer spit, glaciers, and mountains while you relax on the deck, Please be aware that there are 26 fairly steep steps up to the cabin to get that view. The cabin has a loft with a queen size bed and a fold-down futon in the living room. The kitchen includes a gas stove and a full-sized refrigerator, locally roasted coffee and a small drip coffee maker, toaster, all pots, pans, and utensils, and basic pantry items.

Up The Hill cabin will give you a taste of the true Alaska with all the modern conveniences: You'll have wi-fi and Netflix, and a gas grill on the deck that overlooks the spit, bay, and Grewink glacier. The cabin sits on 1.5 acres offering privacy for your stay. A car is required, and if you fly in from Anchorage rental cars are available at the airport. If you stay in the winter, a four-wheel-drive vehicle may be required to get up the driveway.

We live next door to the cabin and are available any time to make your stay more enjoyable. Many people fall in love with Homer after visiting and want to invest in their own place here. The place was quite, cozy, clean, well stocked, as usual. Debbie is always communicative and responsive when needed. We have stayed two or three different times now. This time we were visiting Homer for a family wedding and appreciated a relaxing afternoon and dinner with movie the night before. We appreciate the deck, relaxing with the view just outside, with a hot cocoa, coffee, or wine from the nearby winery, depending upon the time of the day. Thank you so much Debbie!

Check in was easy and the host is a good communicator. The cabin is small, but tidy and well-appointed. Towels and linens were fresh and clean. The cabin is situated overlooking the Homer spit and has amazing views from the bedroom, living room and front deck. And it’s a short and easy drive into town.

Only negative is the low ceiling in the loft bedroom. You have to duck to get into and out of the bedroom. I guess an adult coffee pot would be nice too. The 4 cup pot was a small pain. Would stay again. The view was just incredible!!!

We loved our stay at Up the Hill Cabin in Homer and wish we could have had more time. It had everything we needed, plus an amazing view of the Homer Spit and Cook Inlet. We'd stay there again in a heartbeat.

The view was perfect and the unit was clean and stocked with perhaps the best coffee i have ever had! We had sand cranes wandering around the property and just minutes from trail heads, the bay and town. However, if you have “really” bad knees the stairs might be an issue. Mine are 65 years of wear and tear but the beautiful view was totally worth it!

We stayed in this cottage for two nights and enjoyed our stay very much. It's a bit on the rustic side but very comfortable. The place was clean. The view from the front windows were stunning. Picture perfect. The views were worth every penny. We even experienced a Momma moose with her baby. They look to be frequent visitors. The host was wonderful to work with too. We would rent again when we are in the area.

We loved this place! Spectacular scenery with so much to do in the area and much wildlife to be observed! We did a half day kayak trip in Halibut Cove. We had wonderful guides and great weather. We also did a few hikes. Debbie was so friendly and an awesome host. Wish we would’ve stayed longer!

The cabin was cozy and the view was amazing. The host was very responsive. Relaxing time, we sat and looked out at the view for hours. The stairs were a bit of a challenge for us with bad knees and the bathroom is on the main and the bed is in the loft (bed was very comfortable) so if you get up in the night often it makes for a fun middle of the night adventure. I would come again. I recommend this cozy cabin for the views and the quiet neighborhood.

Couldn’t have asked for anything different than this magnificent cabin with a direct million dollar view of the infamous Homer Spit!!! Fully furnished with everything needed and very comfortable bed. The only thing different than what is shown in pictures is there is no wood burning fireplace, it is heated with a nice oil burner heater. Outstanding location on the bluff close to all homer has to offer.

I stayed here for two weeks as I went fishing and bear viewing and it was absolutely the most perfect home or cabin ever. Debbie was such a gracious host and everything was in perfect order. I will definitely stay here again.

We spent a week in this cabin, and it was one of those rare instances where the reality was better than the photos. The view was absolutely outstanding: mountains, a glacier, the ocean, and the spit. We even had three moose in our front yard one day. The main floor and loft bedroom were the perfect size for two people, and everything was well cared for. We ran into the tiniest of hiccups – really, not worth mentioning – and Debbie went absolutely above and beyond to address it. She was very caring about our stay and an excellent host. We will absolutely stay here again if we return to Homer and can 100% recommend it. The only thing we’d call out is if you have mobility issues, it might not be a great fit for you. Going down the stairs at night to use the bathroom, for example, would definitely be challenging for some people.

This place is so fabulous that I hesitate to review it because then it may never be available when I want it! Sure, we would prefer a place where we did not have to walk down a winding staircase to use the toilet in the night, but the view is so spectacular that we hope to return many times. The cabin is cozy and well maintained, and Debbie was very attentive and friendly.

Debbie’s place was amazing. The changing of the fog, the full moon you can almost touch, the orange moon as it sets, the spit, the sandhill cranes who live there, fresh eggs. I can’t explain see it for yourself.Streps we’re a workout but worth it.

The Up the Hill cabin was perfect. We stayed two nights exploring Homer and the Spit. The cabin had everything we needed and the view is spectacular! The newly added deck with roof proved to be very beneficial as we did get rain on the weekend but could still sit out and enjoy the sights.

Wonderful cozy cabin on the hill overlooking Homer Spit, Kachemak Bay, Grewingk Glacier and Cook Inlet. The views are incredible from the cabin. Owner Debbie provided everything we needed for being comfortable and for cooking at the cabin. It was very clean with lots of thoughtful touches including fresh eggs Debbie delivered from her chickens. Only a short drive to the Homer Spit, restaurants and other destinations in and around Homer.

Amazing view out the front window of this unit! I just wanted to sit on the front porch (but it was chilly!) or at the front window because the view of the spit was incredible. Be careful on the steps up to the bedroom, though.
