About this chalet rental
Chalet Oz is a private, self-catered chalet located in the Oz en Oisans resort in the heart of the French Alps. The chalet is completely detached with its own front door. A button lift is located just 50m from the chalet giving a ski in/ski out location. Oz is part of the Grandes Rousses/Alpe d’Huez ski area which is one of the largest resorts in the Alps. The ski area has more than 175km of pistes and plenty of off-piste routes for the more experienced skier. Two Gondolas provide rapid access from Oz to the main resort area with queues a rarity. There are a number of aspects that make Oz the perfect resort for families with children. There are no cars in the main resort area. The skiing in Oz itself is self-contained. A carpet lift and 2 button lifts is ideal for children as they start to learn and develop their skills. Access to the high mountain is not possible without taking one of the gondolas. For smaller children there is a creche, La Petite d’Oz in the resort, which takes children from 6 months up to 6 years.

This must be our third stay at this chalet. It is compact and at the bottom of a few steep steps but it is cosy and great value for money.
Very easy hosts to deal with and all very relaxed.
Chalet is directly below a drag lift that takes you to the Poutran lift into the Alpe d’Huez bowl.
Oz is small so not many ch apres ski but we like it!!

Tenant compte des avis précédents, nous n'avons pas été déçus par cette location...qui nous a permis de profiter pleinement de la dernière semaine de ski sur Oz...Le sherpa étant fermé ( sic...), nous avons apprécié la présence de fonds de placard conséquents et de produits d'entretien...
Nous étions 2 familles, le chalet était très bien équipé, lits confortables et faits à l'arrivée...linge de toilette...Nous reviendrons sans hésiter à l'occasion. Sandrine, qui gère le chalet a été très disponible et réactive...

Un détail que nous aurions apprécié : disposer du plan du chalet parmi les photos proposées sur l'annonce. Les photos correspondent parfaitement au chalet mais un plan aurait facilité l'installation rapide des affaires de chacun en permettant d'attribuer les chambres à l'avance quand on a un groupe constitué de personnes qui ont des soucis d'articulations...

Très beau chalet
Le chalet est très fonctionnel, bien décoré, il ne manque vraiment rien. les linges de lit et de toilette ont bien été appréciés. Le coin salon avec cheminée est très agréable après une belle journée de ski.
Il est important de préciser que l accès au chalet est difficile. Un haut escalier doit être monté pour accéder à la route.
Attention aussi à séparer les oreiller plumes et synthétiques.

Parfait
Ma famille et moi avons séjourné deux semaines dans ce chalet qui nous a enthousiasmé. De plus, la communication avec le propriétaire ainsi qu'avec Sandrine, que nous connaissions déjà, est tout ce qu'il y a d'aisé. Encore mille mercis a eux deux pour leur disponibilité et leur écoute. Quant au chalet, il est hyper bien situé dans Oz station. Il est doté d'une grande terrasse exposée plein sud. Toutes les commodités sont disponibles dans cet hébergement, aussi beau que fonctionnel et pour lequel les photos publiées sur le site ne rendent pas justice. Séjour parfait !!!

Excellent séjour avec une procédure simple pour l'état des lieux
L'accueil et les procédures pour la récupération et la remise en fin de séjour du logement est ultra simple et rapide.
Du sopalin, du café étaient déjà présents et nous ont bien dépannés pour la première journée.
L'équipement est super : lave vaisselle, machine à laver ..: très pratique !
Le cadre est sympa avec des ballades de différents niveau à portée de main.

Avons passé la première semaine des vacances de février à Oz. Une jolie petite station familiale qui, malgré le contexte sanitaire, a su nous séduire. Logement super agréable, propre, spacieux, accueillant. Très fonctionnel et bien situé

Un très bon séjour COVID compatible !
Un très beau chalet très bien situé. Malgré l’absence de remontées mécaniques nous ne nous sommes pas ennuyés : raquettes, ski de rando, luge et chien de traîneau. Station un peu morte cause Covid : pas d’alimentation en dehors du week-end et beaucoup de magasins fermés.

Grand chalet familial bien équipé (literie, cuisine, équipement hifi, jeux etc), au calme avec vue, belles balades autour, petite station piétonne avec tous les commerces qu'il faut.

Vraiment très bien, je conseille
C'était un séjour vraiment très agréable. Le chalet était très propre, très bien préparé (les draps et serviettes fournis et les lits faits à l'arrivée, c'est vraiment très appréciable). La capacité d'accueil sur place correspond réellement à l'annonce (notamment table et chaises). Le propriétaire a répondu sans difficulté à nos questions (nous étions un groupe d'amis) et s'est montré très arrangeant. La gérante a également été très agréable et de très bon conseil. Les équipements sont parfaits (manque peut-être un peu plus de points de lumières à certains endroits), le choix et l'aménagement du mobilier sont très bons, l'ambiance est très agréable. La mise à disposition de bois pour la cheminée est un plus. La literie est également très convenable. La gestion du chauffage reste peut-être perfectible. On a trouvé un fonctionnement par rapport aux chambres, sinon on avait trop chaud. Egalement perfectible : la possibilité de stocker les skis en sécurité dehors ; pour les chaussures (ski + ville) l'entrée est très bien aménagée pour cela.
L'accès au téléski est proche, même si l'escalier de 30 à 40 marches pour accéder à proximité (route et bas du téléski) n'est pas forcément des plus attirant, mais franchement c'est quand même facile (marches peu hautes) et par rapport à d'autres chalets aux alentours ce chalet est très bien placé.
La mise à disposition d'une carte pour le parking couvert est un plus. Pour les voitures complémentaires, le parking découvert gratuit non loin est également très pratique.
Le petit bourg est proche. On y trouve l'essentiel pour des courses de base. C'est sûr que ce n'est pas un bourg où des jeunes s'y retrouveraient pour faire la fête mais pour une bande d'amis d'âge mûr qui passent les soirées au chalet, cela est très bien. Le prix de la location est très raisonnable (c'est forcément un critère de choix aussi).
A refaire dès que l'occasion se représentera pour notre bande d'amis.

A wonderful week in Oz
We stayed, as a party of 10 (6 adults and 4 children aged 1 to 7), in this beautiful chalet for a week at the start of February 2020.
From start to finish we were better looked after than any self catered accommodation we have ever stayed at! Sandrine was so helpful and Niamh and Ruairi were excellent owners.
The chalet was extremely generously equipped in the kitchen, towels, linen etc. Again for party of 10 the chalet had more than enough equipment and it was spacious, at no point did we feel crowded.
The chalet was warm, the floors are heated in most areas and there is the option to have a fire although we were too hot for that! Even after 30mm of rain on day one, we had space and heating to dry all our gear ready to go for day 2.
Yes... There are some steps from the back of the chalet to the piste but if you're going on an active holiday... Maybe you have to expect a 3 minute walk here and there! Even our 1 year old walked most of them.
Oz en oisans served as a good hub, we mainly skiied in Alpe d'huez as it was sunnier there. For our kids the availability of green runs was better there too. From the chalet, walk up the steps, catch the Clos du pre drag and then ski left to Poutran. It's a 10 minute gondola up to the runs in alpe d'huez.
As we had a bit of rain at the start of the week, the run down under Poutran was icy so we took the gondola down when we had the kids or took DMC2 up and skiied bartavelle and alpette instead to bypass it.
The TV was an issue for some earlier reviewers - this has been sorted. The new TV has facility to use your Netflix account or if you don't have one there are other smart features eg YouTube for the wet days or evenings.
We had some rainy days and explored Oz en Oisans a little. They have a climbing room under the office de tourism (no equipment provided but there are big mats), there's a nice pool just below the sherpa supermarket and ice skating in Vaujany or alpe d'huez both accessible with your lift pass. If you do go as a group with young kids, try to catch the alternative sledging Wednesday and Friday as it was a great laugh.
Absolute 10/10 experience from host to accommodation to facilities. Would happily recommend and stay again.

Excellent chalet in great ski village
Well equipped chalet, with everything we needed, very warm, with plenty of hot water. The furnishings were comfortable and very much what we expected from the pictures. There are around 70-80 very steep metal steps leading up from the chalet to the road (or piste) so we chose to leave our skis in a locker near the lifts. Only disappointment was that the TV had only French channels and there was no DVD player - some evenings we would have liked to have just flopped in front of the telly!

Le chalet est très bien équipé et très bien entretenu. L'assistante personnelle très réactive. La proximité des pistes est idéale, le seul point noir est la montée des escaliers. Parfait pour 9 personnes.

Charming chalet in excellent location
We were in Oz for a week and really enjoyed the chalet. Very well located close to the slopes ( less than 5 minutes walk). The chalet was very well equipped for cooking in and the log fire added to the atmosphere. Sandrine, who welcomed us, could not have been more helpful. Would definitely book again, many thanks!

Perfectly situated with everything you need.
Sandrine met us and explained all we needed. The Chalet is very clean and perfectly situated close to the main ski lifts. Very quiet with amazing views to wake up too. Slept 7 people very comfortable. Had all we needed to cook. Would recommend as we will definitely be coming back here to stay again

chalet bien équipé à 1300m, excellent accueil, mais site peu intéressant pour la randonnée.
Concernant le site: nous étions venus en famille, à 1300m, du 14 au 21avril pour randonner.
Ce n'a pas été facile vu le fort enneigement de cette année et l'orientation NW de la pente; malgré tout en fin de séjour, nous avons bien profité de la subite floraison printanière.
Les sentiers du coin sont assez abrupts et peu entretenus. Se munir d'une carte bien à jour, éventuellement sur portable.
Nous avons appris aussi qu'avec la fin de la saison du ski, 21 avril, tout les commerces de la station fermaient : supérette, boulangerie, magasins de sports.
Donc Oz station, c'est agréable l'hiver pour les skieurs, mais après...
Il faut aller chercher le pain et la nourriture à Allemond à un quart d'heure de voiture.
Par ailleurs la fiche de renseignements fournie par le loueur n'est pas toujours exacte : il n'y a pas quatre chambre + mezzanine, mais trois chambres + mezzanine + deux canapés-lits dans le salon.
Pour la pharmacie , il faut aller à Allemond.
Par ailleurs le lotissement, agréable et tranquille, avec petite terrasse et balcon pour chaque chalet, se situe sur la pente raide, et reste inaccessible en voiture: on accède au chalet en descendant un escalier métallique de 75 marches par lequel il faut porter ses bagages à l'arrivée et au départ.
Bon séjour, donc, mais quelques surprises.

Comfortable and well equipped
The chalet had everything we needed and it was good to have a washing machine/ dryer. Plenty of kitchen equipment and we particularly appreciated the multi point electric socket leads, which are always extremely useful. It was an easy walk to the Clos du pre button lift and we would certainly recommend this as ideal accommodation for families and friends.
Our only disappointment was that the oven wasn’t working, which meant that we spent more money buying food to cook on the hob and eating out. A pity that the electrical,appliances hadn’t been checked before our arrival.

Great ski chalet very well set up for family skiing.
The chalet is located a short walk down from the main part of Oz En oisans ski station, in a small group of other chalets. There is also a button lift which can take you up to the main resort (opens just before 9 am). There is good accommodation for a couple of families (we had 4 adults and 4 kids) with everything you could need for a comfortable stay. The only thing we could have done with was a snow shovel- but we borrowed one from next door anyway - and we were blessed with far more snow than would normally be expected in December.
Sandrine, who is based in a local village, looks after the chalet for the owners, and was very friendly and welcoming and could not have been more helpful.
Overall we would thoroughly recommend this chalet, and Oz more generally, as a great place for a family ski holiday.

Lovely, well-equipped ski chalet
We had an absolutely fantastic week at the chalet in Oz-En-Oisans, despite the fact that the snow was somewhat reluctant. The chalet is really homely as well as being spacious enough - we were a group of five adults and three children and fit very comfortably. It was really well-equipped in terms of utensils and equipment generally. Everything was clean and well-looked after. Couldn't have asked for anything more from the property and will definitely be hoping to return.
The resort itself is small and friendly and gives great access to the bigger Grande Domaine skiing area - my children were beginners and because of the lack of snow their skiing was a bit limited but there was enough to get them started and it's clear that if the heavens had done their bit and dumped loads of the white stuff then it would have been perfect.
