About this chalet rental
HighlightsA magnificent 4-bedroom rental chalet in La Tzoumaz, in a stunning location for winter or summer rental. The entire front wall of the huge kitchen / living / dining area is made of glass, providing you with a magnificent feature window onto breath-taking panoramic views of the valley and the mountains beyond.
Bedrooms & BathroomsThe two large bathrooms and four spacious bedrooms in La Tzoumaz Chalet Gentiane have each been beautifully decorated and finished to give a homely feel. With one twin room, three doubles and an extra single bunk over one of the double beds, the chalet sleep up to 9 people with ample space for two families, or a large group of friends. In addition to the two large bathrooms, there is a separate WC on the main living floor.
La Tzoumaz Chalet Gentiane is equipped with a high chair and a folding travel cot (bedding not provided) suitable for children under 2 years old, and a second is available on demand on arrival. Please note that in accordance with the manufacturer's safety instructions, additional mattresses are not provided with the cots.
EquipmentThe kitchen is fully fitted to meet the needs of cooking for large groups, including a fridge/freezer, oven and induction hob. There is a dishwasher, microwave, kettle, toaster, electric filter coffee-machine and Nespresso coffee machine, plus fondue and raclette sets for a traditional Swiss evening in front of the log fire. A washing machine, dryer, iron and hairdryer are available, and there is a portable barbecue for outdoor use.
RelaxingThe only challenge when trying to watch the modern flat-screen television from the depths of the sumptuously comfortable sofas in the living room is trying not to be distracted by the beautiful and ever-changing views from the wall of windows behind the screen. On a blue-sky day, the view stretches 20km, up to the peaks of the Haut de Cry and the Mont Gond, which tower 2000m over the Rhone Valley floor below. When the snow is falling, you can watch it drifting slowly past you, as it settles over the traditional village of Iserables across the nearby valley.
InternetChalet Gentiane is equipped with free, high-speed WIFI for your own private use.
PetsWe're sorry but Chalet Gentiane is a pet-free property. Please browse our selection of pet-friendly chalets if you would like to travel with your pet.
ParkingParking for 2 or 3 cars outside the chalet. Winter tyres and/or snow chains necessary in winter due to steep access road. Alternative parking is available 170m away, in a lay-by on the main road. At least one car is advisable in both summer and winter. Contact us for railway or airport transfers.
WinterThe free ski bus (less than 200m from the door) whisks you the 2km to the Savoleyres telecabin in a matter of minutes. The modern high-speed telecabin carries you from La Tzoumaz up to the top of the Savoleyres in less than 8 minutes, from where you can decide to ski back on the quiet La Tzoumaz slopes or ski down to Verbier’s legendary slopes and world-class off-piste opportunities in the vast 4-Valleys ski area.
SummerIn the peak summer season (from early July to late August), we provide you with free VIP pedestrian lift-passes, half-price mountain-bike daypasses and a range of other discounts. The telecabin link to Verbier operates daily at this time of year from 08:45 to 12:30 and from 13:30 to 16:45, meaning that you can easily access the famous resort as a pedestrian, or accompanied by your bicycle or e-bike. For a small supplement you can even use a variety of mountain lifts to make your way up to Mont Fort at 3300m for the highest fondue in Europe and incredible mountain panoramas that include Mont Blanc and the Matterhorn.
In summer, the area turns into a hiking and mountain biking paradise, with hundreds of kilometres of marked trails criss-crossing the mountains, awash with alpine flowers and a range of wildlife to spot. Visit the Maison de la Foret with its wildlife exhibitions and its Five Senses Nature Trail, and the starting point of many beautiful hikes. The Bisses are relatively flat footpaths that follow the water as it trickles around the mountainsides, where for centuries farmers and villagers channelled the streams for their own uses. They have been preserved and can now be an incredible way to spend a day or more on easy hikes with stunning views across the Rhone Valley or over to the Massif des Combins. We will provide you with plenty of tourist information including our favourite suggestions for day trips that are easily reachable from La Tzoumaz, from spectacular gorge walks, cheese factories and roman festivals to rainy-day ideas such as underground lake tours. The road that winds up the mountain-top to the panoramic Croix-de-Coeur Cafe-Restaurant opens as soon as the snow melts and from here you can continue the drive (or cycle) all the way down into Verbier. Try not to miss the Swiss National Celebrations in La Tzoumaz on August 1st, or the famous festival of live music performances, the Verbier Festival, which runs from mid-July to the beginning of August.
For familiesThe centre of La Tzoumaz benefits from an outdoor ice-skating rink in winter, and a children's playground area in summer, with a rope-based agility park alongside more traditional equipment such as slides. A fun channel system with running water is built into the hillside to provide plenty of entertainment for older children too.
At the exit of the village the Domus playground is a fabulous spot, often bathed in late afternoon sunshine, with swings, a zipline, see-saw, climbing frames and even old tractors to clamber on. It is overlooked by an outdoor cafe (check opening hours) providing drinks, snacks and ice-creams. There are rabbits, donkeys, goats, and there is also rock-climbing on the local crag in the background (contact us for equipment and instructors).
The Maison de la Foret has a cafe area for drinks and snacks (check opening hours), wildlife exhibitions and its Five Senses Nature Trail with hands-on activities to borrow such as bird-whistling and learning to draw. The Nature Trail has disabled parking and is accessible to wheelchairs and children's buggies.
Right at the top of the village is the "Defis de la Riviere", which is equipped as an outdoor physical challenge area for older kids on the river. There are sensory walking areas for younger children and a basket swing, and also a picnic spot nearby.
A short drive down the valley takes you to the large lake at the Parc des Iles, with its playgrounds, high-ropes park, minigolf, restaurant, miniature train and more.

chalet Gentiane

We enjoyed our family ski vacation in Chalet Gentiane and loved it! Very professional and friendly service from the agency, best in class. Clear recommendation.
On the downside, the only item really missing is a Sauna. Definitely something worth to add.

Well appointed modern chalet with lovely views.
Property was clean and modern, and most importantly, the beds comfortable. The admin side was straight forward, and the support/info from the 4-Seasons office excellent. Inclusion of a cableway/postbus pass was an excellent addition and encouraged frequent trips up the mountains. We’d have no hesitation about returning to Chalet Gentiane should we holiday in that general area again.

6 Night Stay in La Tzsoumaz
It was exactly as was described in the booking .com. Which is very good experience.
Only thing that will be helpful if there are soaps & detergent for the stay as u need to come prepared from the night you start your stay. Since if u reaching at night getting everything isn’t possible. So may be a few small things will make things comfortable from day 1. Otherwise super good stay & wonderful experience.

The chalet was a wonderful space and had fantastic views. Rare to find two double beds and two bathrooms (powerful shower) with a separate toilet, so that was great. It is a little way from the town, so you do need to read the bus timetable carefully to make sure you don't have to walk up the hill. We were only 4 people and we did cook every night. If we had filled the chalet then I think we would have struggled with large dishes and the oven space (as one tray was too small and only worked if you sat it on a wire rack). People before us hadn't cleaned the dishes very well so we ended up washing everything before we used it. Dishwasher was out of rinse aid and in general the cleanliness could have been improved upon. One basin wasn't draining and a plumber came out to fix it promptly. The chalet was very warm and we live in a cold house, but you can turn it down if you ask. Only supermarket in town was pretty well stocked but extremely expensive. Having a car a benefit.

Great property, Great location, Great views
This property is fantastic. It is about a 10 mile drive up the mountain to get to La Tzoumaz. Chalet Gentiana was very clean and had everything we needed. Our family only has 4, but it could sleep up to 8 people. The only drawback is the house gets very warm in the summer. At night it was a bit uncomfortable unless you kept the doors open. The drawback to doing this is it attracts a lot of bugs and access from the ground floor. Even with this, it still gets 5 stars!

Amazing view in a modern chalet
We could not have asked for a better chalet experience in La Tzoumaz - the Chalet is spacious with incredible breathtaking views and equipped with a small backyard for children to play or to grill and relax in the sunshine.

Great views, well-equipped, everything you need
This was our second stay in this chalet. The view of the rhone valley is fantastic. It has everything you need, good quality, very well-equipped kitchen, and just great atmosphere. In a quiet settlement of 6-7 chalets. A short drive to the telecabine in La Tzoumaz, or close to the stop of the skibus. Very helpful and competent rental company.

Perfect chalet with breathtaking views
Staying at Chalet Gentiane ticked all of the boxes. If you are going to ski it is perfect however if you would like to travel using Gentiane as your base the public transport from La Tzoumaz to the bottom of the mountain is very limited. In hindsight we should have hired a car which would have made life much easier. The staff at 4 Vallees were very helpful. Just a shame it didnt snow this year for Christmas.

Left Speechless - amazing Views of the Mountains
Stayed at Chalet Gentiane with friends (9 of us altogether). Large chalet, enough room for us all. Didn't feel like we were on top of each other. 4 bedrooms, all very clean with plenty of space. Bathrooms clean and fresh towels provided, fully fitted open plan kitchen/diner, couldn't ask for more! Anna & Percy very friendly and on hand at all times. Very welcoming. If you stay, we recommend you buy wood for the fire, so cozy with snow outside and the view....wow! Leaves you speechless. We watched the mountains everyday and couldn't take enough photo's, it is the best part of the chalet, we promise you will not be disappointed. La Tzoumaz is a small quiet ski resort, and we felt slopes for intermediate and advanced skiers only (no green slopes or beginner slopes) but quiet was nice and what we wanted. Two cable car rides and you're in Verbier if you want more shops and bars. Not much going on in La Tzoumaz for non-skiers but the walks and the views are breathtaking and make up for the lack of shops. Would highly recommend this chalet. We're sure you'll love it.

Great Chalet and Great Hosts
We stayed at the Chalet Gentiane with a party of eight. The property offers plenty of space and is easily accommodating two families. Everything is like described on the website, the kitchen is perfectly equipped, enough warm water for all of us taking a shower after a ski day, good quality linens and towels. Anna and Percy were always available and took care immediately of issues such like exchanging bulbs or re-booting the dishwasher. Walking distance to the ski bus is max. 200m, it took us less than 30 mins from leaving the house to the first turns on the slopes. We felt very much welcome from booking to leaving and would highly recommend the Chalet, the agency and anna and percy in particular. Thank you! Colin

Quality is everything
I have had the pleasure of staying at Chalet Gentiane both in summer and now Winter. The chalet is modern with high quality fixtures and fittings. Fantastic views from the picture window in the main open plan living room, whether lounging around, dining or preparing food in the well appointed kitchen area.
Lovely having your own view from the bedrooms. Found the bed extremely comfortable and along with the peacefulness of the local area slept "like a baby".
The skibus stop is just a very short walk along the access path ( about 1min in skiboots unless your dragging the kids).
It is possible to ski back from the Telecabine ( you just have to walk across the road) to open grass area up behind the chalet. Doable for intermediates IMO.
Will definitely be back.

Stunning Views
Just returned from a week in this lovely chalet. The chalet is beautifully furnished and equipped to a very high standard. The views are amazing, fantastic place to watch the New Year fireworks. We found Anna and Toby very helpful at the agency particularly when we arrived in difficult weather conditions. Highly recommended!!
