Wonderful family get away, not far from Berlin.
We arrived at Kauperhof on a snowy day and it looked just beautiful. We were welcomed into the house and we even got a little welcome snack board with local delicacies, a very thoughtful gesture! As we went in December, a few bits of Christmas decorations were dotted around the main living space, which we really liked. The house is spacious and offers a lot of space to spend quality time with the family. The sauna was perfect and one of the reasons we went (pool was closed for obvious reasons). We didn't want to go to a busy spa hotel during a pandemic, but the sauna was used by one family at a time and disinfecting/cleaning products were available to clean before/after you have used the sauna to make us feel more safe. The breakfast (Broetchen) service was handy to as we didn't have to find a nearby bakery (also think it would have been quite a journey to find one that's open). The bedrooms all have proper shutters, so no light would get through (especially handy in summer) and beds very comfy. The kitchen was well equipped (plenty of glasses, cutlery, plates) and we appreciated that washing up liquid, sponge and dishwasher tabs were available. If you already bring food for breakfast etc. it makes a big difference. Overall, I would definitely go again.
Whilst a Nespresso machine is available (with plain coffee pods available), we drink a fair amount of coffee in the morning and with all the available space in the kitchen, a normal coffee machine would have been a preferred option for us. The shower is the main bathroom was nice and spacious, however, due to the scene arrangements and it being half open, we ended up flooding half the bathroom after every shower. Whilst everything is provided to dry the tiles, it is just not what I want to think of or do when I am on holiday. I appreciate putting in new doors may not be feasible. Slippers were provided, however they were very big. Maybe offering a smaller and larger size would at least accommodate men and women? (They might have been a size 44-46, so not something that would have fitted my size 36 feet- Nice gesture to provide though). We had a house facing the pool and with big windows and no curtains, we would have certainly felt a little 'watched' if more people would have been there or if people would have used the pool (e.g. when you just had a shower and walk around the house with just a towel around and people can look inside). Whilst the open living space is intended, we did feel that some of the practical aspects may have gotten lost in the design. All of these things were minor to us, but we still felt it would be good to provide the feedback.
