4.5
I like the camera, the view from the camera and from the restaurant “the osteria”, that I suggest.
The spa was amazing!
The breakfast was limited and croissants looked almost like they were from the day before

The owner & staff were extremely friendly & helpful. The location & views are excellent. Great restaurants.
There was nothing to dislike.
3.5
The view was wonderful, room was nice clean
The car park didn't do the hotel any favors for 1st impressions scruffy things abandoned room was mot ready left waiting over an hour so went for a swim that was lovely and views over water but nowhere to get a drink no bar or coffee offered but coffee in room , meal was fine but very expensive and wine expensive but saying this enjoyed the surroundings this hotel could do such better if attention to detail,

All rooms have a balcony with a view to the lake. There’s also a free parking lot right next to the hotel. We spend in our clean and spacious room for two nights and loved our stay.
..there were quite a few spiders on the balcony roof but I suppose that is pretty normal in such warm and humid conditions.

Location
We were here for the fourth time. We always want to eat in restaurant La Tavola (which is a restaurant with a michelin star). Our reservation for the restaurant was not received, though we teceived a confirmation. No effort was made to solve the problem. Alternative was to eat in the other restaurant of the hotel (same kitchen, same staff). They had a table for us at 8.45. We received the first things on our table (some bread and water) almost an hour later.

location, room, pool, parking,staff friendlyness
menu, but that is entirely a question of personal tastes

great views, comfortable rooms, very quiet
would like a bar to open during the day (although I was aware of this before I got there)
2.5
The location was nice - the room very good
We paid full price but we got nothing that was promised. at the breakfast we got served very old bread, old fruit, no choice at all. the old man was very very rude. We got not even an Espresso. they also did not serve the sauna. no one at the reception. it was a very bad experience. we will never come again.
4.0
stunning lake side location and fabulous staff and both restaurants are awesome. the passion that goes into the menu and food are second to none.
we arrived by train and there are no taxis or way of getting to the hotel without a terrifying walk up the road with no sidewalk. not far but not safe.
4.0
Great view, good location, free parking on site. Spa with excellent view of the lake
Restaurants shut during the daytime (only open for breakfast / dinner). Breakfast was continental. A car is useful / preferable as a few kilometres out of town.
3.5
Comfortable rooms.
Great view from room terrace across lake and mountains beyond.
Nice pool.
Most reception and chambermaid staff friendly.
Needed more storage space in room.
There was not a bar.
Walk from the hotel to Laveno was along a road which is partly unpaved with blind bends.
Owner was not at all welcoming. Mostly ignored us unless we specifically had an issue that needed dealing with.

Location was excellent ; view from our balcony was superb.
Although the town was only a short walk, the road from the hotel was busy, and pavements were minimal

not much
our first negative review. the owner is a grumpy man and not at all hospitable. He treated us as though we were an inconvenience. at about $500 per night it should have been $200. His wife is also unfriendly. we stayed 5 nights and couldn’t wait to leave. the corridors smelled fusty also.
The two young people who worked in reception were the only saving graces. The hotel is in a dark corner and receives no sun and the foreshore below us was littered with plastic bottles etc which the owner should attend to. It wouldn’t take much to clean it up. would never stay there again. an awful end to our 4 weeks in Italy.
2.5
Room had comfortable bed and sofa. Nice lake view. Indoor swimming pool. When we asked, did get a kettle for the room. Receptionist and waitress friendly.
Hotel directly onto road and always in shade. Views of scaffolding and debris covered beach adjacent. No communal lounge/ bar area. Same limited breakfast daily at €18 each. If you didn't eat the pricey tasting Michelin menu the other restaurant again had a very limited selection. Shower over bath awkward to use and plumbing hopeless, freezing to scalding. Coffee maker in room but only allowed 2 cups a day. No milk or tea option unless you could find someone near the kitchen. Manager took no interest in making us welcome.

The view from the balcony was nice - across the bay to Laveno. Unfortunately there is very little in the town except for a couple of bars. The view also takes in the mountain behind Laveno and across lake
There is no hotel bar for a drink - we were told you could get one in the restaurant but this was closed until the evening. There is no outside communal area to sit in - the best you can do is to sit on the jetty attached to the restaurant. (Note, because the restaurant seems to be closed for a big part of the day, the lift to its floor doesn't work. That means trying to navigate yourself to the jetty via some sort of odd route.).
To get into town you ideally need to drive - not ideal when you've driven for over 8 hours to get there. We were told the restaurant (and therefore any chance of a drink) was closed on our day of arrival. So we decided to walk into town which means traversing a narrow-ish road with only fleeting bits of pavement. Very dangerous - particularly when returning in the dark. We were told that there are no taxis in Laveno and so no choice over getting back.
The room itself is OK except the shower head leaking - water squirting everywhere - sockets coming loose and uncomfortable plastic chairs on the balcony. We dragged the room chairs out which worked OK. This is rated as a four star hotel but no-one showed us to our room (unlike in a 3* hotel a few days later in Honfleur, France) or explained anything about the hotel. It basically doesn't have any amenities except for the restaurant. Apart from the funival ride, in a bucket, up a mountain there is nothing to do in Laveno. A very disappointing part of our trip and a part of the world we certainly won't be returning to.

Amazing view. Amazing people! Outstanding restaurant La Tavola.

Besutiful views, quality of the food and wine was fantastic
Unfriendly and rude staff made us feel very unwelcome. Arrived late from a long drive and decided to do dinner based on restaurant being in Michelin guide - told waterside tables are only for guests doing the tasting menu so had to sit virtually inside while tables with view were empty the rest of the evening. Wanted to swim next morning and owners were shaking their heads at us swimming from the jetty which was actually mentioned in the hotel description as a bonus of the hotel. We ordered 2 glasses of Prosecco and were literally ignored trying to pay with one staff member giving and eye roll and walking off and then having to wait while the owner answered the phone in the middle of serving us to check whether they had taken our payment or not. Spa facilities were not working e.g sauna and steam room turned off. Overall it felt like we were looked down on the entire time and was way below a 4* experience. Having just travelled from Switzerland the night before and had a fantastic experience this was a stark contrast. Hotel has wonderful views but let down by unfriendly service
2.5
The view from the rooms is great - and with that the positives are mostly over.
Staff was also helpful, although it is a strange practice to note down credit card data and to keep passports for photo-copying for longer than a few minutes (as noted by some other reviewers as well).
Room was rather small and basic. We stayed for one night and hardly spent time in the room, but for extended stays it may prove to be small - depends on your needs. If I recall correctly, their was no aircon; for us sleeping with the window open was OK.
My biggest disappointment was the breakfast. Selection was very small and not everything looked appetizing (i.e. wasn't in "best shape" any more). Not what I expected at a 4-start property that has a Michelin-star restaurant...

Excellent location
It would have been nice if someone had offered to carry our bags to the room. Also we were told the bar would be open but it wasn't. Breakfast wasn't very good, all 'hot' food was cold and offerings were poor
