Used Olives Cottage as a base to wander about Northern Tasmania. Stayed for eight nights. We loved our pre dinner drinks

Relaxing, fully contained and great property owners.

Great view, comfortable, close to everything but still serene and relaxing.

Chairs and sofa in the lounge are not the most comfortable. Something more modern might work.

Our best stay, during our trip to Tasmania, was at Olives's cottage.

The Views were amazing, The Kitchen was very well stocked. the quality of the house was above par. we shall definitely visit again.

Lovely little cottage getaway

The cottage was lovely. Spotless and well equipped, cosy and charming. Location was great and the view was beautiful. Everything we needed had been considered. Highly recommended and I would definitely book this cottage again. Great for 2 singles, or 1- 2 couples. Beds were really comfortable. Dishwasher and washing machine were greatly appreciated.

As a disability support worker, the only issues i could see were the steps into the back garden and the pebbles in the driveway and front path. For a person with mobility issues, this may present a problem. My friend managed perfectly fine when using her walking stick, but using a walker might have been a problem.

Drink in the Views

Olive’s cottage instantly makes you relax . The comfy, well appointed cottage, the views and the big bed that should have it’s own postcode! So well located to easily access Tamar attractions. We did wine tastings at Bay of Fires, lunch at Barnbougle , visited Launceston and did a lunch and wine experience at Josef Chromy. Sounds like we were constantly on the go, but we spent many hours just drinking in the views at Olive’s.

This is really minor, but the outdoor settings could use a cover between guest stays as naughty birdies left messages on the chairs and table . Maybe some bird scarers or wind chimes might deter them too.

Enjoyed our stay loved the outdoor seating area and fire pit with views over the river - beautiful

loved the main bedroom and the outdoor seating area by the fire pit so beautiful to sit and look out over the river. kitchen very well stocked with everything needed for a short or long stay. thank you for the wine it was lovely.

the electric bbq did not work properly - could not manage the heat. our friends did not like having the washing machine part of their bathroom. It would have been nice to have a dryer as able to do washing but due to weather unable to dry.

Exceptional

Beautifully restored cottage on one of the best spots along the Tamar river. Very private and lush lawns and gardens rolling down towards the river. No neighbours in size thanks to well planted hedges. Sit out on the rear deck or on a garden lounge on the lawn and sip wine, coffee or whatever and enjoy the view of the Tamar and abundant bird life. Walk 20-30 minutes up the road to visit the historic Windermere Church, built by Matthias Gaunt, a pioneer instrumental in ending transportation of convicts to Tasmania. Also a romantic- he built the church for his wife, Frances. Two houses along on the other side of the road you will find an expert woodcarver, John , whose specialty is boxes featuring the local birds. Inside the cottage you will find comfortable bedrooms for a great nights sleep , spotless bathrooms and a well appointed kitchen with startup provisions. And last but not least enjoy the lovely photographs of Flinders Island throughout the cottage, taken by Rhonda ( owner) . I was sad to leave this tranquil haven. Thanks Olive and George ( also Robin and Rhonda)
