Really lovely experience. Woud definitely return for a couple of days. Its a 15 min drive from town

The infinity pool is very nice with amazing views of the river valley and surrounding hills. Nit very big and can be easily dominated by two families of four. Poolside furniture is Ikea wooden, which may be in keeping with the eco ethic but is maintenance intensive and looks a bit weathered.

Walks around the extensive grounds could be better marked out.

Relaxing stay with great views, pool and breakfasts.

Lovely setting with a beautiful pool, with fabulous views. Great buffet breakfasts by the pool.

it was a little way outside town.

The quinta itself is amazing, very well located in the middle of nature and not too far from the town. The breakfast is generous and very nice, staff is very friendly. The only and major downside for us is that off season the jacuzzi and sauna are out of service, however it was not mentioned anywhere which really disappointed us because we were looking for an hotel with these equipments since we knew it would be raining all weekend and it wasn’t mention anywhere when we booked it. Hopefully the fact that it’s in the middle of the nature, with animals and not so far from town made our stay super nice.

Forced to pay extra

- large room - walk in shower - nearby free parking - very comfortable bed - microwave to heat my own meals and also a fridge in the room. - lovely view from the room, and nice patio area - lovely rural location - a remote control with the room key to open the property gate

- Basically there is only one BIG negative thing which has influenced this review in a negatieve way. I had booked the room and stated my preference for a walk in shower. I received no response to that. However, when I checked in I was told I needed to pay a supplement of €25 per night for a room with a walk in shower. Frankly, I was furious to be put in this position and having no choice but to pay the extra amount. The accommodation was far from full. Why could they not have 'upgraded' me without the extra charge. It doesn't cost them more, and they would have had a very happy client. Now they have a very unhappy client who will never return there and never reccomend it to other travelers. - the breakfast was o.k. but I really would have appreciated eggs, and for the price I was paying, I think that is not too much to ask. - besides breakfast there is no food or drink available.

relaxing tranquil spot

The staff gave excellent recommendations for dinner. Pool area was beautiful with an amazing view over the river.lovely walks through the pine forest down to the river. Quiet and tranquil.

Perfect for resting, enjoy nature and slow down.

I loved everything. The room was comfortable, it had a TV, AC, a mini-fridge and a tiny outdoor area with a table and 2 chairs, perfect to see the stars at night. The area surrounding was very peaceful and pretty, all the houses had the Alentejo typical look which makes it adorable. The pool area is perfect to chill and enjoy a beautiful view across the valley and river. And finally everyone was very gentle and friendly. I totally recommend Herdade do Freixial!

Nice rural place!

It is a beautiful rural establishment with a nice view over the river and a friendly staff. The location was perfect for us, as Vilanova is a little spread out, the location was perfect for us as everywhere we wanted to go was close (but you need a car in that area, anyways). The infinity pool/pool area is great, and an additional highlight is that breakfast is served there with a great view.

Just small things: they provide water cooker and tea, and a coffee maschine in the room - but you need to buy the coffee seperatly. The breakfast was tasty, but some eggs would have been nice. In some parts it seems Corona / missing customers took its toll. But that seems to be the case in many places in Portugal.

location & quietness

houses in need of repair. kitchen cupboards are showing the signs of the constant use and some lamps did not work properly. daily cleaning is efficient but not very thorough.

it was far from town if you are hiking the Fisherman’s trail.
