Charming hotel with incredible mountain views

The Hotel Sonnenberg was well signposted and easy to find from the Grindelwald train station. It’s about a 10 minute walk from the station which is all uphill and gets steeper closer to the hotel, but this shouldn’t be a problem for anyone with standard fitness. We had a self-service check-in as we arrived after 4pm but this was well organised. We highly recommend booking a double room with a mountain view as the views were spectacular! The room was small with two single beds pushed together, the beds were comfortable and were remade daily. Complimentary coffee pods and hot water were provided. The bathroom has a shower and a bath but the shower area was not very spacious. Breakfast is available from 07:30 and we found there to be a limited choice of options, however a couple of croissants and a cup of tea was a fair start to the day. There's about a 5-10 minute downhill walk to the main street, although uphill on the way back. Overall good value for money and the views from the hotel were just incredible.

Ein in die Jahre gekommenen Schätzchen

Sehr freundlicher Empfang Da ich vor der Frühstückszeit abreisen musste, bekam ich ein leckeres Frühstück to go (Kaffee, Gipfeli, Apfel Käsebrot) Terrasse mit Liegestühlen mit Aussicht auf den Eiger sind super Ich werde das Sonnenberg weiter empfehlen

Einrichtung ist in die Jahre gekommen. Teppich geht gar nicht mehr...

老板热情，风景优美！

1、位置很好，可以开窗看到梦幻山坡，很美很美！ 2、老板很热情，入住的时候帮忙搬行李，介绍酒店的情况，周围的公交信息等。 3、早餐品种不多，但味道不错，奶酪不错，唯一一家有榛果的餐厅，餐厅也能看到绝美景色。

1、酒店位置在山上，需要爬坡走一段路，坡度有点陡，拖着行李箱走真的挺累的，5分钟的路硬走成15分钟，由于位置高，看到的景色很美。 2、酒店没电梯，一共3楼，老板在的话会热情的帮忙搬运行李箱。 3、房间厕所没有排风扇，毕竟闷热，不容易散味。

Very cozy rooms with a wonderful view of the picturesque Grindelwald Valley, very nice hosts who gave us valuable advice on the attractions in the village and the proper equipment for day trips in the valley and around it, excellent location close to all kinds of transport and restaurants, delicious rich breakfast, very clean. We would be happy to visit them again.

the staff was very friendly. They provided bacon for breakfast just because we mentioned it at check-in the room was very nice with a stunning view as you can see all the mounts without any block.

Excellent value, wonderful management and staff at the Sonnenburg and overall a great experience.

Super traditional Swiss Hotel elevated above the village with awe inspiring rooms views of the Eiger Northface and other peaks. Very comfortable room - I appreciated the in-room coffee making facility. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Great breakfast!

The location above the village makes access a little difficult particularly when snow has fallen. However, the walk is only 10 mins up and 5 down and you do get used to it!

the cozy atmosphere. the receptionist George and the kind woman who served us at breakfast. moreover the deals with other hotels and Buri sport to keep your things, this helped us enjoy the hotels location instead of seeing the hill as an annoyance

Great breakfast and a lovely view from the breakfast room. The room was very warm (almost too warm!). I appreciated having a bath in the bathroom after a long day hiking. The location is great - it's up a bit of a hill, so be aware of this if you have a lot of luggage, but this didn't bother me and resulted in a great view

I didn't find the pillow very comfortable, but this is a minor thing

Very cool

Single room (with balcony) is so amazing! The view facing mountain is so good! And I really like the wooden furniture it’s so classical and cozy. The staff is very friendly. I have problem with my WiFi connection then I told reception and it was perfectly solved. It’s a little hard to climb the mountain to get to the hotel but I think it’s okay for young guys (I’m 20+) definitely recommend! And will comeback!

Very good

Location was quaint and quiet, being slightly away from the main station. The room we got was spacious, clean, and with a balcony which was nice and offered a good view of the opposite side of the valley.

Read several reviews and was warned about the arduous hike up the hotel. Was mentally prepared but still slightly winded dragging our luggages up.

Great location and even better views!

The room had an amazing view of the Eiger mountain and was very spacious. The hotel itself was nicely situated near town and close to the train station, which made going out for activities during the day easy.

The woman at the main desk was a little cold and standoff-ish.

Surprisingly comfortable stay with a beautiful view from my room and at breakfast

Very near train station but up on the hillside so it was quiet and had a great view with my own terrace

I didn't mind the hike up the hill, keep in mind if you aren't traveling light

Views if the bedroom is facing the mountains. Great breakfast and the waitress is efficient and has a happy personality

There is no baggage service to the hotel. We lugged the luggage up steep hills to the hotel. We only found out later that there is a sister hotel Hotel Derby that we can leave our luggages to be transported to hotel Sonnenberg

We enjoyed!

Breakfast: sausages, cheeses, tomatoes, eggs, milk, coffee. Small room, but with everything you need. With a small balcon, with a beautiful view.

The view was spectacular. The hotel position is not in the middle of the city, but a bit uphill, so in the evening it was quite.
