Everyone was so kind, the people around us, on the beach, and especially the grounds manager. The gated entrance made us feel extra secure. The walk to the beach is simple from anywhere on the grounds; we liked not driving to the beach. The pool, was clean and well maintained. We felt comfortable and at home. So why do I say you get what you pay for, well the place was clean and well decorated, but there are items that would’ve made the experience a bit better. The toaster didn't work, and they never brought in a new one. There was a salt and pepper shaker, but both were empty. We purchased prefilled salt and pepper shakers at the store and left them for the next guests. There were no coffee filters. We called, they explained that's something they don't provide which is fine, but it said fully equipped kitchen in the description? We assumed that included these small items. It would have been nice to have a broom and dustpan. The coffee maker was filthy, we had to clean it to use it. The living room furniture was uncomfortable, the sofa was worn out. There were damages we felt obligated to notify management about so didn't get charged for them. The wifi was bad to the point that we couldn't watch TV without constant buffering. There are a lot of stairs. If you struggle with stairs this is not for you. I know this sounds picky, but I want to offer a fully honest review. We loved our stay and would stay here again.

Location is good, walk from the unit to the beach. Near the pool, but pool has no lights on at night. Felt clean but kitchen could use better amenities. Beds just so-so. They are memory foam but on the firm side. Overall a cute, clean place.

Great location right by the pool with a short walk to the beach. The condo was super clean and had all the basic amenities we needed. Beach chairs and sand toys were a nice bonus. FYI there are two sets of steep stairs, one to enter the condo and one the go up to the bedrooms. Definitely not the best layout for small children or adults with mobility issues.

Not sure if it is a function of Vacasa and no on-site manager, but no one let us know that the beach at Sandcastle was closed for restoration. This was a major feature in our selection of the condo and extremely disappointing that we did not have beach access. We have two small children and had anticipated a relaxing vacation where we could walk to the beach, but instead we had to drive to other (very nice) beaches on the island. On the plus side, the condo is very clean and welcoming and the pool is lovely and very well taken care of.

Beautiful condo! The location was perfect and the pools were amazing (and warm!). Only down side was the bunk beds in the second bedroom, not practical for sleeping more than two people, the top bunk was squeaky, disturbing bottom bunk sleepers, and the trundle mattress was very uncomfortable. But the pros definitely outweighed the bunk beds, a great stay!

The condo was nice but it needed to be cleaned better. The dishwasher had dirty dishes in it when we got there and there was hair in the shower drain.

Sweet, little condo in a quiet complex with wonderful amenities. Convenient to all the island has to offer but is comfortable enough that you don't need to leave. We will definitely visit again.

A really nice condo overlooking the pool. The beachfront pool is closed but the second pool is open and is great. Short walk to the beach. Very clean.

Young family, recommend!
This was our first family vacation to the beach. We were apprehensive about the whole trip but we had a fantastic time! The house was clean and mostly updated. Be prepared for stairs. The BBQ grill didn’t work at all-but the kitchen was appointed well enough to do all the meal prep we needed. The complex was nice and quiet. There is definitely still some repairs in the complex from the last hurricane season but we were able to work around it easily. Would definitely visit this location again.

First time planning a trip for my fam.
Literally had a pool right outside our room. Everything was clean and very nice. One of the kids beds was filled with sand when we arrived so the sheets needed to be changed. Otherwise very happy and would rent again

Great place
The house was perfect for what we needed. We were at Dauphin Island to have our annual family reunion. We were really just needing a place to sleep. This condo was perfect with comfortable beds. We were happy to have a washer/dryer and kitchen with everything we needed. I liked that it also had a Keurig! We will definitely consider this house for next year!

Beautiful Condo
This was our first time on the east end. The condo was beautiful and very clean. Only a few complaints and they aren’t major. We would have like to have TVs in the bedrooms and hangers in the closet. It was a very short walk to the beach. We will definitely be back for another vacation.

Completely Inaccurate - no beach, unsafe
My family and I stayed in Sand Castle #2-A over the past weekend. There are a number of issues, including significant inaccuracies in the listing, that we only discovered upon checking in. If we had known of some of these we would not have stayed here. Some of these issues are safety hazards. I contacted a local vacasa staff the day we checked in and she offered a 2-day credit for a future stay., which doesn't make up or unsafe conditions. I followed up with management after our stay and they didn't have any further response.
Here are the issues in order of most importance:
The beach was under construction and unsafe. There was broken concrete and exposed steel bars all over the bulkhead, not roped off or marked. There is literally not a usable beach attached to this property. I specifically asked about beach access and condition ahead of time and was not told about the condition. The photos on the listing do not represent the beach as it exists.
The pool by the beach is closed, and half full of green putrid water (and also not well closed off from a child wandering in). The photos on the listing do not represent the pool as it exists, and the description is false because there are not two pools as stated.
The photos show swinging hammock chairs under the house. These do not exist, so the photos are inaccurate and do not represent the apartment.
The first-floor balcony has many popped nails that could cut someone's feet; it is unsafe, especially for children.
The first-floor balcony door is extremely difficult to open and close, to the point of danger of falling trying to do it.
There was hair in the master bed linens, and shower.

Girls get away
Celebrating my daughters high school graduation at this lovely condo was perfect. 3 18year old girls fit easily into the little bedroom. It was close to the beach and such a fun area. They met other kids there age and had a great time at the pool. The private beach is beautiful.

This was a great find for our family. The condo is very nice, well decorated and clean. My daughters, grandchildren and myself had a very relaxing time. We enjoyed the pools and the beach every day of our stay. Staff is friendly and we had no problems with anything. It was a great to be back at Dauphin Island and enjoying the time there. This was our first time to stay on the East end of the island and we were happy with our location and access to the beach. Wonderful Trip.
We had a wonderful time on Dauphin Island. The house was perfectly decorated for the Beach. Everything was clean and in its place. We had the pool right behind us, or could walk to the private Beach from the condo carrying our things, not a long walk at all. The kids loved the Beach and the pool right on the Beach as well. Nice white sands, beautiful weather and the Dauphins made an appearance everyday. Will be coming back.

Excellent stay!
We absolutely loved our stay and plan to be back. The place was clean and perfect location to pools and the private access beach. The property manager was kind and friendly. Only issue we had was Vacasa giving us the wrong gate entrance code. We then walked past the gate and ground the correct code written on the office door.

As expected
This condo was perfect for our 5 person family. Being able to walk to the beach and having the pools close was an added pleasure. The first pool can be viewed from the balcony for watching kids swim and the second is on the beach. I only wish they would have left trash bags for when we filled the ones they left in the cans. The kitchen was well stocked with plates, silverware, cups, utensiles, pots and pans. There isn't much to eat on the island so bring food.

Clean well-maintained property
Only issue was a smaller than expected sandy beach from storm erosion. Vacasa staff and SandCastle Property managers were professional and helpful. The pools, boardwalks and landscaping are well maintained,

Clean, updated condo on Dauphin island
The condo itself was very clean, with updated decor and well stocked with everything we needed. The pool was right outside our until, and a short walk beought us to the beach area. Unfortunately, the gate code we were given by vacasa did not work and we were stuck outside the gates of the complex at 9pm in the rain after a long drive. We tried contacting vacasa through every number, email, text we were given and could not get a person to help us. I sat on hold for 30 min with no answer. My husband walked around the property in the rain, until we finally found a sign inside the property manager's office with the correct gate code. We finally got a response from Vacasa around 9am the next day. But for this reason I would not recommend booking through vacasa, and have never had an experiece where the rental company was completely unreachable, although the condo and property itself was very nice.
