It worked for me for the three night stay - I’ll be going back in two weeks time for the next event. Very central and a
Was close to my work event - had a 20% discount to the Italian pizza restaurant opposite which I used. Rebecca the receptionist was very friendly and helpful. Bed was comfortable.
It was just a bit old and tired but it was warm and great for me. The pillows were as flat as pancakes so maybe an update of those would be good

Nice staff, fighting an impossibly old-fashioned building ; you should apply for a LOTTERY GRANT.
Pleasant, helpful staff. But very cold room, no wardrobe or HANGERS EVEN, to hang clothes. Worst of all NO HANDLE on the door ; how dare you expect people to tolerate such PRIMITVE conditions ! With not even a chair to sit on, either, nor even a net curtain on the window.
You should have admitted that your wi-fi wasn't working. It's just as well that guest's laptops pick up the local signals, isn't it !!!! You quite obviously couldn't give a damn what travellers think of your facilities, as you allow any Tom, Dick or Harry to park in your 10-car Car Park.

Great expectations aside, a nice place of literary history..
No question, a perfect location for access to shops, cathedral, marina, bus/trains, pubs, eateries etc. Room could have done with a little pastel decor rather than the clinical white, just to 'warm' the appearance a little. Tea, coffee provided. bedding was crisp & clean (the most important aspect of any room) BUT mattress did suffer from the old 'worn bed springs' issue. New shower/bathroom suite fitted. The Reception staff were always on hand and most helpful when needed. Fact is, the Bull is getting to be an old gal now (400 years of history) but at least she's still standing. So we accept her shortcomings and enjoy her historical/literary heritage while we can.
Mattress spring issue, uncomfortable. TV not in the best place for viewing (sit on bed) Shower water temp was a bit unpredictable WiFi available but couldn't access it No resident ghost

Another night in the Victoria and Bull
make no mistake this is a budget hotel and looks like it in some areas. But it is on the High Street and it is friendly and clean. And it is half price of any other hotel in the area. This time we paid a little more for a suite and we had a king sized bed, a big room and even bigger ensuite bathroom a lovely free standing antique bath.
nothing, it is even opposite cafe nucleus
