It was a lovely stay

I liked the sauna world, it is definitely something to experience. Pool area is also excellent. Staff always friendly and helpful. Breakfast and lunch was delicious.

Ecpect nothing, otherwise big disappointment

The pool when there are no water aerobics The breakfast( unbeatable) The homemade chocolate ice- cream Most of the staff ( except for ‘das Grace’)was very friendly and nice

There is unfortunately much to complain about in this hotel. We had the feeling that it was all about marketing and that the guests did not count. We had booked a junior suite with a garden view, but actually the view was towards an apartment house ( please be honest and state that) The suite was very dark, the bed linen was never changed during our 4 nights, which is totally unacceptable for a 5 star hotel. At the end, it looked like a flea box as the sheets were all crumpled up…. The hotel provided us with 1 bottle of water ( complimentary) for the 4 days which is a joke. The hotel had written us an e- mail that if we did not book one of the restaurants in advance, we could end up with no table. Eventually, we noted that there was plenty of availability for 3 out of the 4 evenings. The only evening that we had not booked was the busy one ( saturday). When we asked at the reception for a booking at James Farmhouse, we were told that the computer is showing ‘’ full’’ and that we should go to the restaurant ourselves and ask there instead. That is what we did and we obtained a table without any problem. So far for the guest service….. We do not recommend the Caesar salad which tasted like in a US fast food…. However, the cherry on the cake was ‘’Das Grace’’, although the food was excellent, the service was something else….I completely agree with one of the reviews stating that the behaviour of the waitresses was ‘’ too much’’. We would call that an ‘uppity behaviour that was perceived as unpleasant’. All in all a bad experience for such high expectations. What a pity!!!

Superb

Excellent and service minded staff in general. The rooms were spacious, nice and modern. The bed was very comfortable. The Spa was also great and both pools indoor and outdoor and Saunas. Location of the hotel is with a view of the fjord so that is also perfect. Absolutely amazing food. The breakfast is amazing, there is anything you can wish for. We tried some of different restaurants and were very pleased with all the food and wine in general. In all, almost a perfect stay!

The staff at the bar 'The Lion' was not service minded - we ended up sitting without drinks for approx. 30mins. After finishing our round of drinks, we waited 5-10mins - nobody came to ask if we were good or wanted something more. Then for like 15-20mins we were trying to make discrete contact with the waiters going around the bar - nobody as much as looked at us. Also, we noticed other tables getting a small snack served with their drinks. Even though we were there for several hours and ordered several rounds of drinks, we didn't get any. Very unfortunately experience, as the staff in general as so excellent. But this was not the case at The Lion for drinks that night. Also, car parking was not included in the stay. For the price of the stay, I do not understand that this is something you need be charged extra 15 euros a day for. This is the justification for scoring value for money a bit lower.

Perfection for a couple getaway

This is an absolute gem and treat. Highly recommend it for a couple getaway. The Minota restaurant was exceptional, service and food. The service is outstanding in general.

The surroundings are not so exciting.

just what the North needed

staff were fantastic and hands on. the room was brilliant, all new, good equipment in the mini bar, I did miss some slippers and laundry service bag though. The beds were fantastic. Food was good. The service staff in the bar was super enthusiastic and attentive.

The gym coups have more cardio machines but maybe I just didn’t see them.

Fantastic hotel!

Everything was great as we splurged for a night after a long day cycle touring. The roof pool, staff, and room quality were all excellent and hotel has great character. Fantastic breakfast. Great bicycle parking in the hotel too!

The “small” room we booked was still spacious and lovely, only had one design quirk of part of skylight/windows had no covering or shade, so we had to really improvise to block light.

Relaxing stopover in good location.

Stylish with good quality without being too posh. Room was spacious with own balcony and bed excellent, adding nice area for work (rare in even business hotels). Splendid bar, and brilliant breakfast.

For a spot like this, staff could be more relaxed - but same applies to Northern Germany. In otherwise relaxing environment a small detail.

Bad start but improved to be fine

The standard of the hotel, food in the restaurant

I asked for check in between 10 & 11, I received an email with ok, but the room was not ready. Then the guy at the reception started a discussion that they never promised it. I showed him the email but he said it was not from them. What a joke to start a discussion with a client and deny the email was real.

Exceptional

We liked absolutely everything. With kids almost 3 and almost 6 the Family Spa just the place to go. Breakfast was delicious but also huge variety of dishes where some of them are from the farm owned by the hotel. The staff was great and parking also very convenient. Location wise it also works well when on one hand you are in Flensburg with 5 min drive to city center and on other hand you are almost outside the city with access to the water as well. And we also received a free upgrade to a bigger room :)
